Baron Harkonnen, according to the novels, was the father of Lady Jessica, the Duke's concubine, which makes him Paul and Alia's grandfather. Exactly whom he had as a female partner I cannot remember.
It's a heart plug. Some sort of device that purifies one's blood due to all the pollution on Geidi Prime or something like that. Pull it out, and the person will die. I don't recall if they were in the book or not (been a while since I read it), but they were shown in several, but not all, of the seemingly dozens of different edits of the David Lynch movie.
Did he just say that the Heighliners should be stopped from landing? Why bother? THEY NEVER LAND IN THE BOOK. The ships are over thirty kilometers long, how the fuck would you even defend *one* of them?
Hey everybody - I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains electronic upbeat and ambient songs inspired by the music of Frank Klepacki and the Dune video game series. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
Of course, the heartplug was originally used to drain infected blood, due to living in such a polluted environment. But now harkonnens bathe in blood and the baron drinks blood.
@UberGadriel Actually, the heartplug is a form of mercy because the victim will die once the pin is pulled. If the Harkonnen wants to torture someone, it will always be slow and very painful. Talk about pulling the plug...
@bursegsardaukar Really? You've experienced exsanguination? Some people who have survived major blood loss will tell you it is very frightening and painful...
absolutely brilliant acting. Why we don't see more of this guy? At least here I have to say he's at least on the same level as John Rhys Davies (atreides mentat). And even higher concerning the fact that playing Harkonnen mentat is more difficult role than Atreides... This guy should make it to the holywood... sadly he's probably too old just now...
I always thought the acting in Dune 2000 was far better than Emperor: Battle For Dune. EA can learn something from Westwood instead of hiring big name actors to say cheesy lines. Who ever played Hayt was flawless.
It's true that the actors are good. Yet, I can't get over how much they rape the real Dune by basing their characters on the movie. They portray the baron as a retarded monster. He was an evil genius and really the monster was the mentat torturer. The baron was always disgusted at the torturer de Vries but he considered him useful.
I agree, the guy played the mentat amazingly well. You can see the reflection of the very essence of House Harkonnen in Hayt. This was very well done!
We see so little of him, but I'd imagine he's gay. He was in the novels, so why not? I made up all that story stuff in the descriptions so as far as I'm concerned, he's just as pedophilia and homoerotic minded here as he is in the novels and movies. Heck, let's make him flaming. That'd be hilarious.
Actually, in the books they openly admit he's gay. There's a scene in one of them (Can't remember if it's the original or House Corrin) where Feyd-Ruatha attempts to assassinate him by installing a poisoned needle in the thigh of one of Baron's many playthings.
Its in the mini-series too and the baron isn't so much pissed, but disapointed that he didn't come up with anything more original. But I suppose its logical that he's gay, seeing as it was because of his rape of a Benie Geseret sister that he got the desise that made him so fat and ugly and pussy
The Harkonnens are basically hedonists, so he could very well be any number of (fill in blank)-sexual. It wouldn't surprise me if he was a necrophiliac.

If you watch closely, you will see that he has a heart plug on his finger before we see the one on that woman. That means he didn't kill her.

His name is Robert Carin and according to imbd he did a episode on "Beverly Hills Bordello" and this game. He hasn't done anything else.
