Mario because what Sonic has on speed Mario has on power and I prefer power(lifting 3 tons on Bowser inside story with no items), he eats a volt shroom and whatever touches him gets electrocuted and paralyzed, he can come back from the dead countless times thanks to life shrooms and retry clocks, Boo's cape makes him invisible and untouchable and hundreds of more items and powers. Sonic is fast and all but Mario has the advantage.
To tell the truth, Sonic would pwn in a fight with Mario, it's just a fact. C'mon, he has his Super Sonic form, and his Werehog form, both of which would trump Mario's star and fire form. If anyone remembers the explosive power Sonic and create with any of his forms vs Mario's goofy (yet entertaining) penguin, racoon, frog, and other forms, you'd realize who'd truly win just by looking at it from a realistic angle.

Even if he learnt his tactic he wouldn't be able to take it due to his speed. And for now Sonic is not the strongest in the Sonic Universe but Mario against Sonic speed will conquer power same as how Sonic beats Knuckles and knuckles is quite strong and would put up a hell of a fight against Mario

@sassle1 Mario also has the Pure Hearts, The Chaos Heart, The Crystal Stars, which are really powerful aswell.... also in the Mushroom Kingdom... even if someone dies... they dont really die, they turn to a spirit and get the power to hunt you forever until a green mushroom comes but yea..... being honest I like both character but i go for Mario.... and Sonic has Wisps .... ok thats like Mario with the Lumas

Mario because what Sonic has on speed Mario has on power and I prefer power(lifting 3 tons on Bowser inside story with no items), he eats a volt shroom and whatever touches him gets electrocuted and paralyzed, he can come back from the dead countless times thanks to life shrooms and retry clocks, Boo's cape makes him invisible and untouchable and hundreds of more items and powers. Sonic is fast and all but Mario has the advantage.

To tell the truth, Sonic would pwn in a fight with Mario, it's just a fact. C'mon, he has his Super Sonic form, and his Werehog form, both of which would trump Mario's star and fire form. If anyone remembers the explosive power Sonic and create with any of his forms vs Mario's goofy (yet entertaining) penguin, racoon, frog, and other forms, you'd realize who'd truly win just by looking at it from a realistic angle.

It is not a fact neither Sega or Nintendo has said who would win so far it is only opinion, that Mario defeated Sonic in sales and the console war that is afact who who would win is not, besides Super Sonic last a short tie Mario has metal, boo's cape, volt shroom which outlast Super form, as for Werehog form is Sonic is using super currently he cannot use Werehog since it would require the negative energy from the chaos emeralds and even if he did volt shroom which paralyze and Mega form wins.

And to that Knuckles(not in sega genesis)is actually quite fast but no where near sonic whereas you talking about tails being same speed as sonic... well he's obviously gonna be the same speed in a sega genesis game. Please don't refer to speed in games like sonic the hedgehog because there is no scale difference between characters. I know knuckles ain't smart but the fact speed was over to top power says something. And knuckles is only retarded in terms of being tricked so its not really a disadvantage since trickery ain't used between fights from Sonic and knuckles. You can refer to tv shows, comics, games the proof is ther.

@supersaiyangoku128 Those shoes are what allows Sonic to use his speed its everywhere comics, Sega handbooks etc so go discuss that with Sega not me, if Sonic doesn't have is shoes Mario can easily avoid him as noted earlier since Sonic would not have anything and Mario still has super strength and more endurance(resisting a giant wrecking ball tackling him while in normal form in Mario 64), without items Mario can lose just as Sonic can without his shoes.

@maruto0710 Well scourge is one of the forgotten characters of Sonic, Sega. But I can tell you now Mario cannot overpower Sonic. Even if he learnt his tactic he wouldn't be able to take it due to his speed. And for now Sonic is not the strongest in the Sonic Universe but Mario against Sonic speed will conquer power same as how Sonic beats Knuckles and knuckles is quite strong and would put up a hell of a fight against Mario

@supersaiyangoku128 sorry for the late reply i was busy and from what i remember all sonic did was dodge knuckles attacks the whole time they battled and speed wont really help much if theres no power to back it up i mean yea speed might make it stronger but sonic doesent really have much power to make it much of a deal and if knuckles could grab sonic when he spin dashed and he has power to do so mario can do it as well so if sonic decided to do that as hes attack mario could easily stop it
