A lovely voice but Karen Carpenter she is definitely NOT! There is a simlarity in some songs and to Dusty Springfield in others.However, she IS Rumer and has her own, most excellent voice and interpretations.

To say her voice is like Karen Carpenter's simply means it's "alike", with resemblance-- same "tone", like they have similar appproach in singing the notes. It's just the easiest way to describe her voice to someone who has not heard her yet. BUT their voices are definitely NOT THE SAME. I guess that's clear to everyone who recognizes the similarity...as much as we understand that she's neither trying to produce a multiplex copy of the legendary Karen nor is she attempting to ressurect her c",)

She has a nice voice but no way like Karen. She has a way rougher voice, and sounds like Dusty Springfield....

I think she was a little nervous but done a very nice version off this song,especially as all the karen Carpenter fans (including myself) would be comparing her voice.After plan Bs singing this was like a breath of fresh air!!

@hornby9 I agree. Give her time. Karen got better and better and I think people always compare new singers with the voices of stars like Karen AFTER that star had got their voice. So people are comparing Rumer with the later, vocally experienced Karen, not the starting out Karen voice.
