  • What the fuck? Pretty cool!

  • I LOVE HIM!

  • This is bizarre! Bowie, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan style.

  • I think this song is about not being understood properly. And about being judged by everyone and somewhat feared "If the human race, with their collective brow

Will they know me, know me, know me, now"

Klaus Nomi was an alien after all.

  • @sherlyjusttoday Good interpretation! By the way, the line is "Will the human race knot their collective brow..."

  • @trylonperisphere You're right. Never trust lyrics sites..:)

  • im on that weird side of youtube again...

  • @utassco LOL! Now that's just funny.

  • WHITE PEOPLE

  • der zeit voraus....

  • The 2nd guy looks done up like Bowie?

  • @DanBlabbers That's where Nomi got the idea for his signature costume as well his back-up performers. He was hired by Bowie as a back-up singer when he was on SNL in 1979. Nomi loved the costume Bowie wore so much, he had a similar look created for his own use.

  • 腹筋崩壊

  • Never realized that French Affair sampled this for their song "My Heart Goes Boom"

  • Klaus is largely forgotten today, but in the 80's he was the rage! Miss you Klaus.

  • the part with the multiple arms sent shivers down my spine. excellent stuff

  • Is it just me or is this really, really sad in a strange way?

  • @fishfoodlad I'm not sure if he knows it or not, me probably does, but this is 2 years before he dies of an AIDs complicated death.

  • @fishfoodlad

ya, i feel the same way.

all his songs are sad like this way, in my opinion.

  • Comment removed

  • @fishfoodlad agreed. i feel that about his songs now

  • HOLY SHIT ITS AN ALIEN

  • Is Janus a girl?

  • @PanicAttackResearch Janus is a woman.

  • La wea rara :S

  • This guy was too weird to say something bad about him. I mean, there's different levels of weirdness, and his weirdness was for sure a very very good one. He sang with Bowie, how cool is that?

  • @erwinio007 No. Because no.

  • @ApolloKun777 lol no means no!!! >.< in all seriousness though this guy was an incredible person.

  • Love Klaus!

  • I'm not sure what's weirder: Klaus Nomi, or this French show on which he's being featured.

  • Nobody's yet mentioned that the host is Anne Sinclair, Dominique Strauss Kahn wife ????

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • When I am running the UK all public servants will be dressed like this.

  • just KLAUS!

  • R.I.P.

  • Alice in Wonderland meets The third reich. Crazy.

  • Great performance!! It does feel so awkward particularly at the end, oh well I don't expect a bunch of stiffs with perms to appreciate this genius! He was about 1 thouasnd years ahead of his time, and if he was still alive he still would be! Genius.

  • Oh wow! I just came across Klaus through a live show he inspired David Bowie to do, i am genuinely fascinated and interested in his style and voice!

  • L'audience a l'air bizarre.

  • i love how the audience doesn't know how to react. i can't really blame them, but this is a great performance when you know what to expect

  • Sehr gut. Perfectes entertainment.

  • scarey :/

  • wo sind heute die Unikate im Musikgeschäft?

  • @McGwinn in Russland :-) Haben Sie "Otto Dix" gehoeren?

  • I don't know what the translation for wtf is in French, but that's what the audience were thinking, hence the slightly delayed applause.

  • The sad thing is that this was considered to be something Epic back in the day. Not to bash all you people who like this, Im just amazed at how far music has come... and how fast the music nowadays went to shit.

  • La hueva bizarra...

  • Seemed like a delayed applause

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????

    llamarme tonto.

  • ahora mi cerebro huele a podrido

  • @HenryVenegasDroguett

  • kamishimo, shoji, sakayaki...

  • This guy was a genius! I`m impressed. To bad he died so young!

  • Loved the random cuts to the inactive dancers at 1:35!

  • A work of genius. I have not listen to this stuff since the 80's.

  • Wow. Thanks for posting these. Years ago a good friend from L.A. days used to talk about Klaus Nomi a lot, finding him very amusing. He and I shared tastes in artists like Lene Lovich, Sparks, and many others, and it's a wonder I've missed appreciating K.N. Really appreciate your posting these vids of him!

  • Thanks for sharing this vid!

  • thanks, its like he's around again i recently watched a bio/documentary on him and he really was a genius.

  • Klaus will be singing with the angels on his home planet :)

  • Janus is wearing a slinky around her neck.

  • That's nice to see; a singer who can actually sing.

  • LOVE ON YA BEDROOM BOWIE X

  • Sprockets!!!

  • @nameisrobertpaulsen Touch my monkey

  • no-mi no-mi

  • wie schüchtern er hereinspaziert...um dann erstklassig, und so herrlich authentisch aufzuführen. Großes Kino. Zeitlose Weltklasse!

  • TOTAL ECLIPSE when he is dead

  • starting 1:50 this is magical!

  • @McGwinn thats my favorite part! :D

  • immer wieder schön, leider ist er zu früh verstorben

  • Awesome! RIP Klaus.

  • you gotta wonder what this dude would be doing nowadays if he was still alive..

  • um, I don;t think it was an "accident" that the male dancer's makeup looks like Bowie's.

  • lol

  • If Betty Boop and Astro Boy had a son...

  • He was one of a kind, out there on his own.

    Fantastic!!!

  • Triadisch Ballet (1922)

    -> Oskar Schlemmer

  • i just noticed...he seems to be in a verry good mood in this video. :-)

  • LOL this guy was awesome. Nobody's got the guts to do stuff like this anymore.

  • agreed, hes got balls of titanium reinforced diamond guts to do this shit

  • Its not funny, its AWESOME

  • Wow, that was really cool! =]

  • 1:48 Haha, did this inspire Madonna's performance of Shanti Ashtangi on the 1998 MTV video awards show? ;)

  • i dont know but i love it :D

  • @csskalet him and madonna where friends ;)

  • This is amazing.

  • This really helps make up for the anguish I felt when I saw the live at Xenon rehearsal video and it cut off right when things were getting awesome. Simply amazing.

  • id love more xenon videos wouldnt you?

  • sublime.

  • Am I the only one who found this funny?

  • I see you favorited this and another Nomi video. There's nothing wrong with finding an element of humor in Klaus' work. But some people may take offense at the way you said it.

  • @trylonperisphere Uh I'm pretty sure there's meant to be a humorous element to Klaus' work, it's pretty well rooted in the whole cabaret thing which is definitely intentionally a bit silly/campy. I'm pretty sure he wanted to entertain and surprise people, not be taken so damned seriously that nobody would crack a smile in response. Of course its funny.

  • @trylonperisphere - Offence? Haha. Might be taking it too serously to take much offence. Different people; different tastes.

  • Yes.

  • @sneakyrabbits

    You're not alone :]

  • @sneakyrabbits It is funny... and cool. It's ok to find it funny.

  • @sneakyrabbits even Klaus is kind of smiling. just listen to lyrics, he had a sense of humour :)

  • Fantastic...

  • Amazing

  • I can't help being offended by the nonchalance of the presentator... Is that the way to introduce a Genius???

  • Get over it.

  • C'mon give her a break, she's French. They're supposed to be nonchalant. Even the word nonchalant is French so they you have it. Tant Pis!

  • I am French raised also... and I still think that she is being rude, not nonchalant. If you watch the other shows that K.N. has made on French TV, you will see the respect they give him. Anyway, let's LOL about an ignorant person

  • OK, so what do you want me to say? She's AVEC chalant?

I HAVE seen some of his other appearances on French TV and her introduction was civil. She only says about 2 words so I don't know where she's judged as rude.

Don't take it so personal lili, I actually like the French. If it wasn't for your country the USA would not exist!

  • u r 2 funny!! and u r right, I shouldn't take it personal. But when it comes to KN, I am "touchy".

  • @lili90277 oh please....

  • @lili90277 He may have not been a genius.... he may have just been insane. Insane people tend to die young.

  • @lili90277 Just the french way, it has always been like that and still remains, genius or not. We are not shouting like the messiah is in front of us when we do tv shows.

  • @lili90277 What's so "Genius" about this??? The only thing that stands out here is the dude's voice : /

  • @XES101watchclub You don't get it.

  • He sounded great live! That's hard to say for most artists today.

  • Oh what I would do to go back in time and see him perform live. Great video!

  • Christ! i thought it was guy perry for a moment...

  • I miss Klaus. He was not just a great talent, but a wonderful person.

  • We'd love to hear any memories you'd like to share!

  • awesome!!! so much talent, so much "guts", so much expression!! Eternal Klaus Nomi...

  • o.O

  • the dance moves at 1:45 are magical , awesome!!

  • Rent and watch "The Nomi Song" then check out a few websites about him. He is/was a fascinating person.

  • The Nomi Song is also free online (legally) on the snagfilms[dot]com site.

  • I have mixed feelings about "The Nomi Song". It made Klaus seem like a cold, calculating person, for getting rid of the original line-up, but we never get to hear Klaus' side of the story. I'm sure he had his reasons. The footage is great though.

  • gee, this is great! just heard of him..huh.. I´m german myself, must be living under a rock

That´s usually not my music style but wow can´t stop listening!!! shows again the 80´s were much better^^ this man got talent amazing! glad I found this vid

  • Glad you liked it! Watch them all! :) Klaus lived in the US for several years before he became famous. He seemed to be most popular in France and Japan.

  • and in mexico xD i heard him in the late 70's and damn i haven been able to get his songs n voice out of my head even tho i was 15 back then

  • What way is that?

  • great quality!

    thank you!

  • I usually dislike the 80's, but this guy is great!

  • Absolutely perfect! We miss you dearly, Klaus.

  • Superb

    Thanks!
