She had Mick Jagger's first child - a daughter - and won a paternity suit against him. She is the inspiration for "Brown Sugar" by the Rolling Stones.
This is an example of very bad singing.....don't know anything about the lady, but i am sure she is/was a nice person...now, the trumpet in the background, THAT is a totally different story!...i believe that is the trumpet sound of the late, great Maynard Ferguson!
Made it on her looks, like lots of others before and after. Wouldn't make it through the first round on Idol. . .but neither would Alot of big stars of the past.
Of course this lady could sing. In this clip you can't hear the band all that well. The vocals are way too loud; an unfortunate occurrence for a lot of European show clips. Many American ones, too.
I'm looking at the audience. They have the whole WTF look in the background :) That out fit wasn't working for her. She looked pregnant or had too much cake.Oh well. Her hair is fierce.
She's alot better than quite a few sistas with the silly ass weaves, fake nails and other nonsense that exist now. Go to grocery stores and clubs and you see it. The sista was essentric(even for that time period of 1966or67) one of the earliest to show that "style". The singing is interesting to say the least but not every sista needs to have a gospel sounding r&b voice. I love a sista who doesn't always try to have stringy hair or permed hair
She's aggressive. And that intro was JOKES.

Marsha, nice effort, but you needed to polish your act more before going out on a world tour. It was a little rough. And that's being gentle.

She couldn't sing but she's a very interesting, intelligent, courageous and nice woman. Read the Wikipedia piece on her.

Marsha was a great singer & is and even greater author. 'Oh No Not The Beast Day' is a great single - should have been a hit.

she was Marsha and Marc Bolan rated her good enough for me and the producer put his own stamp on it just like Visconti
