I just finished building a slightly modified robot on your design and I'm controlling it by an NXT joystick. Is yours in the video RC or programmed? or autonomous???
In this video, it's under RC using a 2nd NXT. In some of the other videos, it's also using autonomous abilities (it can locate, measure, and climb steps autonomously, as well as flip itself back upright, and follow a compass heading over rough or uneven ground).
Very nice. I still can't find a way to get the third motor to be controlled by another NXT. I'm also thinking as using this as a base to mount a pencil shooter NXT project on the back. =)
Nevermind, I got it working.. I have got to say again.... great design... I saw the "model B" on your website. Does it work any better? And is it wider?
I'm sorry you felt it was a waste of your time, but as to "what is it good for", well... it's entertainment. Yep, some of us thingk playing with toys and doing things that haven't been done before in quite that way is an enjoyable activity, not at all "good for" anything. Not unlike video games, in a way.
Perhaps to demonstrate the flipper-tread system this guy has made, as it clearly states in the description, with some murdering of stormtroopers thrown in for extra fun.

Actually, sad to say I think I have 6-7 RCXs, and 6 NXTs (although not 6 full NXT kits; some are prototypes, for instance)
