Though not from Cronulla I'd often take my young daughters to Cronulla beach. Wasn't the riots started over a shower. Near the beach there used to be a shower near a car park and girls would shower there. This video shows a community in desperate times. These riots needed to happen because the police wouldn't do anything. What is forgotten is the initial Protest was the end result of years of Non-Christian mainly Lebanese youths regularly causing problems to everyone else on the beach including "Non Anglo" Australians with beatings, robbery and knifings. The protest was meant to highlight this to the State Government and the in-action of Police who for unknown reasons didn't perform their duty in protecting the general public. The positive result of the protest is regular Police patrols and safer Beachs.

Though not from Cronulla I'd often take my young daughters to Cronulla beach. There were occasions I'd removed them quickly due to large numbers of Leb youths descending acting like total arses to control a section of beach and harassing any girl over 12 in a bikini. The problem was the Police's years of inaction leading to the Life guards being beaten up. The protest turning into a riot was shameful BUT Cronulla beach is now safer with families from all walks enjoying the sun and surf together.

In 1982 I had argued with a Christian Lebonese friend of the time who warned that Australia was making a mistake allowing so many Non Christian Lebonese people in. My argument at the time was like many waves of positive immigrantion prior they would be happy in their new country forgetting their hatreds, to my saddness he has since been proved the righter.

Wasn't the riots started over a shower. Near the beach there used to be a shower near a car park and girls would shower there. Then guys in their loud ass cars( Nissan skylines, pulsars, all those p-plater cars) would drive up and wolf whistle and shit. I always thought it was about territory but then when i found out about this through a friend in Cronulla who researched the riots I was laughing my ass off at how one small thing could cause a huge riot.

@Laitalafraise no the first Australians were any British subject residing here before and after 1948 when the concept of Australian citizenship first occurred, also you know France isn't the poster boy for racial and religious harmony either and so forth, clean up your own country and allow the Roma people to stay as it is their right to, I personally do not care what anyone's background is most of my friends are either South East Asian or Continental European, my partner for example is Dutch.

@RHCPHeadHunterz why are lebanese so highly represented in our prison system, it's not rocket science, these people have a much higher per capita propensity towards crime. im 40 now and have never met women of any other ethnic group than middle eastern who will date a lebanese man, gang rape, shooting at police stations, rampant drug dealing and car rebirthing seem as much a part of dailylife as the drive by shootings we daily havenow. multiculturalism at its best hey

@elbeako1303 Hey, I'm from a lebanese background & I still won't date a lebanese man. I've tried it & it was hell. He was lazy, inconsiderate, didn't have a proper education & hated the fact that I had a better & higher paying job than him. He even wanted me to give up my job and to just focus on him! My point is that not all lebanese women would date lebanese man...Only the dumb ones, which seem to be nearly all of them :/
