The only successful member of the band is Lyford: at least they got rid of him BEFORE they killed their sound. He really has nothing to mourn. I wish I had known this would happen before I ever put all my hopes and aspirations into a band that I thought was the best and would continue producing fun, ORIGINAL songs for years. Anyone can produce this. They only address us "true fans" cause they know they fucked their unique sound and want to be able to blame others for disliking them. Fuckers.
Honestly, I'm more disappointed that they felt they needed to drop the technicality and breakdowns from their music. I won't criticise them if they feel they've progressed but it doesn't make sense to me. This album is really bland. They really were quite unique just a few years ago.
@Salvlol Move on jesus. If you can't realize this a good shit, then your jus missin out on a influential band and you can go listen to the same stuff over and over,
@gsoto420 It's not influential at all. It's boring and unnecessarily repetitive which means it lacks musical ambition, unlike their three previous albums. I'm not sure there was another band in the world that could compare with them in 2007 (ADTR never played with that same level of technicality). I won't be stuck listening to the same albums, there are always new bands and while they might differ in style, at least they won't have (as of yet) succumbed to mediocrity like FYS.
@Salvlol So wat your wanting is another sythesizer, breakdown record like half the other bands produce out there that are this genre, but when a band produces something that will change them from the rest...its boring. Yeah, riiiight.
@gsoto420 No, I never said either of those things. You ignored the points I made. I don't really care about the synthesizer (nor have I ever done). The guitar and drums on this album is what's wrong. They're horribly simple, a step away from sounding something like All Time Low. The vocals have no aggression. There's no cool odd meters/time signatures (go listen to Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Hell). Rise or Die Trying differentiated this band more than this new album ever will.
@Salvlol when you said "There's no cool odd meters/time signatures", think again. listen to Unbreakable. theres an 11/8 signature in the bridge and is followed by a 6/8 before returning to 4/4. i listen to Men are from Mars, and i still hear the same 4/4. however they did play 6/8 in "This Summer Session" but thats the only song i can think about.
@gsoto420 they were never the same as all the others, they had two technical rhythm guitarists who shared lyrics and had heart in their lyrics. their music used to mean something and now its JUST like everyone else. they had a flavor all their own and to get ride of josh is just bullshit, he added a screaming element to the band. they were perfect before this record. PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!! 8========D~~~~~~~~
@Salvlol You can't carry on being the same forever, it gets boring to some people. Cool that you have an opinion but I like that they change with their albums, all as good as the other but each in their own way!
@dropCbeast you are correct. None of those bands are hair metal. What it says is that he likes hair metal and those bands. That's why there's a comma and not a colon.
Glad people like this but i miss their older stuff. Just like Set Your Goals, ADTR and practically all other band before them, thank you for the golden years. They will be on repeat in my car.
@Peter7beardmaster that's not my point, Josh's job was to give four year strong that unique little additive that set them aside from everyone else. The song prepare to be digitally manipulated for example would sound like a different genre without the presence of his synth and the screaming he did that was layered (flawlessly I might add) on alan and dans singing. and he is a musician, he has his own band now where he is writing more music and playing again
so beautiful this song. I love it.. they never cease to amaze me. They always do such an incredible fn job writing songs for every cd. each cd they have came out with was great but this one is the best one out of all of them.. so much emotion and passion in every song. FYS forever
@TheDeathWalrus we all think that, but a band needs to go forward and make music they want to hear and thats all that matters. ive been a fys fan from the beginning and have them tatted on my body. love them no matter what.
@TheDeathWalrus Well, you see, they're on Enemy of the World and Its Our Time. They didn't go anywhere. I promise. Go ahead and check your copy of the albums. :)
At first, I didn't like this album at all. Now, it's my favorite! Beautiful sound!
