  • Ashley has been a favorite of mine since he first hit the air waves!!! Love love love him!!!!

  • this guy is my cousin... not even kidding either! i was at his parents house looking at his juno awards a couple days ago! :) amazing fiddler though

  • @k0dpkin I'm so jealous of you. Could you please tell him that his song always make my day and when I have free time, I always play this song and couple of others. His song is always my performance's top list!

  • I've just added this to my eclectic mix of violin favorites ranging from blues to bluegrass, heavy metal to Polish reggae, and some other genres you've probably never imagined. Check them out by clicking on my jazzmessenger123 link in blue below to the left.

  • Fantastic fiddler.......he took the instrument to a new level

  • Fantastic fiddler.......he took the instrument to a new level

  • cbfiddler(Ashley), saw u last nite in n battleford n u met n exceeded all my expectations! cant wait for the new album, luv u!!!! bringin fiddlin to the masses....n ur canadian 2!!!!!!!!

  • if you like this- then check out the new tune coming out inthe next couple of months- the cumpendium to devil in all my shows touring the first two years of high how are you today- but now recorded with daniel ray(of ramones fame)and the best rythm section ever for tight metal fiddle chrunchy grungy strathspey called

    poka rockin

  • I have one thing to say...if Ashley MacIsaac joined forces with Charlie Daniels (best known for "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"), can you imagine the fiddling power between those two!? This could seriously rock!

  • I wish he would make more music like this...

  • folk you !!!!!!! this song brings me in a folkish mood ! xd

  • this is gonna sound weird, but am i the only one slightly aroused by this music?

  • I'd tap that.

  • i would like to see him do a set with the real mackenzies.

  • Awesome!

    Benedikt MacIsaac and Tobias MacIsaac

  • Boy you said the dude jams!!!

  • summarizes the noise in my head

  • Reminds me of SLC Punk

  • his lives shows are fkn great im fr the island,,,,,,,,,not 2 sure who the others are

  • Is this the one he played at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Games?

  • @animeserena Yes, it's him! :)

  • He's the dog's bollocks.

  • anyone who likes this song should check out lightning bolt. they're a bass and drum duo but they sound almost exactly like this in terms of energy

  • I've always been amazed that violin music can be turned into something like this. This song is straight up punk rock.

  • does anyone know if this guy has similar songs??? :D

  • he kissed my hand once.... :)

  • I WENT TO HIS CONSERT AND SAY HIM PLAY

  • SAw this video way back in the day it still kicks a major's ass.

  • hell yeah!!!!

  • I'm seeing him in August! Can't wait!!

  • fuck off with retarded comments he may be a fag but who the hell cares his music is great and although i don't support homosexuality i can still appreciate his amazing music

  • @MrHellsservant hell yes good way to put it ,,,,, tolerance rather then childish hatred !

  • Personally a straight patriotic West Coast Cdn citizen I think this guy is an awesome musician and artist. On a logical evolutionary; pro-creative level his targeting or partner/fluid preference may be considered flawed; however it is a free personal choice. LMARO 'bye

  • A lot of greats were gay,so fucking what. Oscar Wilde for example, but you not going to read his books because of his personal choices, I think not!

  • @devilman666 fuggin rites

  • @Windegowally Thanks :)

  • Yes I remember back in the day... They would play this and then play a Pogues song. Everyone was trashing on these songs in Montreal.

  • @mogwai142 the pogues eh quite a show that must of been

  • i wish this guy could have gotten bigger...i may be remembering incorrectly, but his star seemed to fall once he came out of the closet. Like that has anything to do with this kick ass "cape breton punk rock"! Kilt flashing FTW!

  • @Vandalspeed Probably had more to do with the fact that he left the major label he was signed to and the coke habit he had.

  • The Devil Went to the Maritimes ;)

  • KSU Folk Festival about '96. He just won the Cape Breton title. He could dance and fiddle at the same time. No one here had ever seen THAT ! it was incredible. A year later he dressed differently and had a world hit. And ask him about that night at Kent when he heard a uillean piper and some bongo players. I like to think it inspired this tune.

  • Loved hearing this guy at the olympics, does anyone know what song he played?

  • Yeah Riverdance to this Michael Flatley ya great poncey haggis!!!!

  • awesome canadian celtic Cape Breton Style drinking tune, this reminds me of when i was i wee lad looking up to my brothers as they drank their faces off, hapy st pattys day to all,

he saved the gaelic language and drove the snaks out of the land of eire , OI from toronto ontario canada

  • this would be awsome on guitar hero or rock band

  • Man! This is the dogs bollocks.

  • boy can play the fiddle!

  • probably copyrighted

  • @iceman1509 no, 100% trad... like wtf

  • go to shaw on demand its free you can watch it all

  • OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!!! seeing ashley at the olympics was fuckin AWESOME!!!

  • The devil cracked me up. xD

  • the hole performance was great! and this song ....love it!

  • lol i was watching this at the olympics and all i said was "this better be Ashley MacIsaac or he'll be pissed", turns out it was, good thing. GO ASH!

  • I love bands Pogues, Horslips, Flogging Molly, Steeleye Span and I am shamed I didn't hear about Ashley MacIsaac until yesterday. It was really great performance!

  • @stevemagegenuine bands are good xD

  • hi y'all i'm from serbia, and i watched this guy for the first time at the olympics opening... can anyone link me to a better audio of this song, or some other songs that are as fast, and bad assed as this? xD

  • played this at the olympic opening ceremonies and it was a freakin' hit!

  • CAPE BRETON FTW!!!!

  • sick song man! i never knew you could make music like that with a fiddle, and since im a metal fan i never knew id actually like it! and you did a friggen awesome job at the olympics last night, keep playin my man. pce

  • @CaptFat123

this kid is freaking GREAT.. but come on.. you gotta like CHARLIE DANIELS! whoo hooo..

  • did an awesome job playing this at the opening ceremonies for the Olympics last night! way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He never left us.... judgemental r-tards. the world is and will always be full of them.

  • BADASSSS

  • perfect

  • Fuck you breeders gays are fucking talented you don't deserve to even listen. Go fill up a mini-van with your heinous spawn.

  • Same here, I'm so glad they he was a part of it. I almost forgot all about him!

  • as soon as the fiddlers came on during the Winter Olympic opening ceremonies, i was wondering when Ashley Macisaac would make an appearance, and he closed the set...

  • @lazysmarts I wondered the exact same thing. Was pretty pumped when I saw him at the end.

  • I was thinking the same thing, lazysmarts. As the set came up its like "hmm, kickass tappers and fiddlers, kilts, rocker attitude...oh Aaaaashleeey, where are youuuu?" Freaking awesome setup at the Opening Ceremonies.

  • @vesper2006 they're playing this in the olympics

  • fuck gay, fuck straight - the boy can play fiddle - so FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

  • who cares about his sexual preference, that man has skills, this song always picks me up when I am down, such good energy, keep up the good work, hope for more sometime.

  • The fag can play...good for him,great song...welll done

  • yes he can!

  • this tune has been recorded by many people in its traditional form myself included-this is however the first "amped"up version-thanks for listening

    ashley

  • hey markus stop saying that

  • i cant beleive that ashley is my second cousin!!! its so coooool

  • Who did the original version. Heard a much more 'ethnic' version of this, bit slower and this section only kicks in toward the end. Any ideas anyone?

  • It's as if Henry Rollins took acid and played the fiddle. Weird and cool at the same time.

  • Now we know Devil wears kilt and a pair of tapping shoes

  • He's so bloody brilliant. Met Macisaac in Cape Breton last year, real nice guy.

  • He IS a really nice guy and a generous teacher when teaching fiddle! He has such a unique talent!

  • @jezx21 And?

  • wtf. A picture of what nature??? You said he was gay. WHO CARES? You're clearly a moron in assuming I don't understand english by asking you to elaborate on your "he's as gay as they come" comment. I've very aware of what being gay encompasses.

"curiosities of this revealing nature that you are so vigorously concerned about" - it seems you've gone and lost your understanding of english. Using big words doesn't make you sound smart if you're just tossing shit together that doesn't make sense.

  • Ashley Macisaac coulda been fucking huge... he had some awesome songs back in the mid 90's, and then his erratic behavior just turned everyone off so badly... Sleepy Maggie, Devil in the Kitchen, and Brenda Stubbard, great songs from my youth.

  • Genius has its own modes of expression, and although it's not really an excuse for his "erratic behaviour" as you correctly termed it, I think the reason his songs were amazing and the reason his behaviour was...um...erratic might have something to do with one another. Still, it's worth noting that many American rock stars have far less talent and behave far worse and get away with it.

  • @uglybuckling He got into it way too young. He was touring and getting exposed to stuff when he was a kid, and never learned to approach it as an adult. He's doing alright now though, at least he's still got some mad talent. :)

  • I am looking for the video for brenda stubberd if anyone has it or knows of it

  • Just saw Ashley play this a t the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival...Loved it ! He rocked it and was amazing!

    Go Gung HO!

  • omg, i love this song. i'm a fiddler myself, & Ashley MacIsaac is my idol!! i met him in Antigonish, Nova Scotia & he is an absolutely amazing player! :)

  • Years ago... way back in the 90's, I used to have satellite tv. Included on my roster of available tv programs was a channel called "Much Music".

Back then, I preferred it (much music) to MTV.

This composition blew me away. While MTV was incessantly playing hip hop, Much Music was playing the good stuff. Unfortunately, that changed.

Anyway, great song and good video.

  • Este tio es un Genio

  • What's up with Satanists and buggery?

  • still a cool tune. i've learned to appreciate it over the years.

  • i play allthe characters inthe video excpet guitarer and drums-i am the devil lolol

  • guys .....noone can deny that this has elements of punkrock in it! great song!

  • It's called a kilt.

  • I would prefer a skirt it's more original!

  • i love the way that the devil dances *o*

  • why would anyone think this is punk? The Exploited poster? the speed of the song? fuck off !

This is nothing more than a 2:24 sec. jam session PERIOD!!

  • ahh haha Exploited poster? this is 2:24 sec PUNK! jam session? jesus.... Ashley McIsaac rocksssss. and is punk as fuck !

  • Well... maybe because it IS punk?

  • In my opinion it's music, and you either like it or you don't.

  • This is in no way punk rock.

  • Not heard this since the nineties, wickid lol! ...and yeah Outcastraider Flogging Molly are a brilliant band.

  • This is freaken awesome!!

  • agreed

  • lots of devil in the video.... yet.... no kitchen.... makes you think.... makes you F-ING think......

  • lol

  • It is indeed the devil in the kitchen! It's true, this song may be celtic in origin but it fits any genre and appeals to all. What's not to like? I'd love to hear new Ashley MacIsaac, if that was possible. I'd buy anything he put a name to.

  • This song fits my bipolar ocd personality!!

The first time I heard it I thought "I want this played at my memorial - it captures my essence!"

  • Well that's... thinking ahead.

  • You could have Ashley himself playing at your memorial! Just write it down on your will, you wont get to lose a penny..

In this case please invite me.

  • i think that ashley can succeed in anything he does. his punk like this is so rebellious and insane.. the kind of thing that's irresistible to play air fiddle to. his pop like sleepy maggie is great... give that one a chance. his fiddle is amazing and he succeeds in any music genre.

  • Song fucking rocks, I havent heard any other electric fiddling is there any other band / artist that does the same style of punk / fiddle?

  • Flogging Molly. They're decent punk and it's not that they're bad, but Ashley outdoes anyone in terms of talent...

  • Comment removed

  • I wish he still played this kind of music. He's playing pop crap now.

  • Good way to represent us on the island man, what a great piece

  • omg! That man is inexpressably hot. I cant believe that he walks among us! (so happy to be on the same continent as him!) Yay! Hope for the future!

  • Holy shit!! Tearin it up!. MF is beyond!!!

  • He can't do anything bad.

Well. Maybe interviews LOL but, nothing musical. Underrated! He needs to come rock the US!

  • He's not a great actor either, but boy can he fiddle! (He was in a late 90's movie called The Hanging Garden) Love! Love! LOVE! Ashley McIsaac! (I'm happy to be from Canada, wish I was his home province.)

  • man hes really original....a musical genius

  • (L) I love Himm

and... he use a scotish skirt (L)

    (L) I love this song xD

  • It's a kilt get it right please.
