  • An Awesome Edit

  • You did the decade justice.

  • The greatest movie decade of all time!! The 1970's produced more film classics than any other era!

  • @wiesen246 not true

  • @blaiserfilms The 30s was another great decade of films. However, the 70s brought a great diversity of films in such a short span of time.

  • @wiesen246 Not really, I would say every decade brings to us, great classics. The 70's was the weird time between the end of classical Hollywood and before the birth of modern cinema. Their are great films from the 50's,60;s 80's 90's and even the 200's. The 70's gave us the actors and directors we so love today.

  • @sociallogie Not even close, the 70s is considered the golden age of cinema by most famous directors who are well aware of american cinema history. Fledgling young directors were given almost complete freedom in the 70s. There is a good reason why over 100 film remakes are from the 70s. It's difficult today to make a film that doesn't remind you of a film from the 70s. You left out the 20s, 30s, and 40s.

  • love that last shot of Pacino!

  • what was the Jack Nicholson flick where he had the shades on and he swept everything off the table of the diner?

I love this video by the way:)

  • @RealIves96 that is five easy peices in which he was nominated for an oscar

  • That was fantastic. Great editing and music...thanks!

  • for a long time I thought that "evil dead" was a 70s film, I geuss it just had that 70s flavor to it, oh well. I still wish it was from the 70s so I could say the 70s had all my favorite movies.

  • After Blazing Saddles, what are the next 3?

  • @NillumNaes monty python/grail, midnight run, & pink flamingos.

  • @NillumNaes not midnight run, I have no idea why I wrote that. I meant The In-Laws.

  • blow out came out in 1980

  • @QuietGiantProduction never mind, someone already said it

  • like 43 of my 100 favorite movies is from the 70s. And they have the best movies from genres

Best romance ever made: Annie Hall

Best comedy ever made: Holy Grail

    Best horror ever made: Exorcist

    Best sci fi: star wars

    best movie ever made: Godfather

  • @brickbusterful Don't forget there were lots of fun movies too like the Pink Panther movies and Bad News Bears In Breaking Training.

I believe there have been approximately 88 movie remakes from the 70s. There are probably more i'm not even aware of.

A Great scifi horror film is Alien 1979.

Sometimes i will see a movie from a particular genre and think wow thats original only to find it was first done in the 70s.

  • Who is the man @ 1:49 ?

  • @teminitotoo Dustin Hoffman portraying Lenny Bruce from 'Lenny' 1974

  • OMG the Deer Hunter... probably the best or one of from the 70. So many great ones. Where is Serpico or the Warriors on here? Clock Work Orange was great.

  • In my opinion, the 1970s was the best decade for movies ever.

  • @Kubrickfan27 couldn't agree more.

  • @Kubrickfan27 It's often been referred to as the golden age of movies by most movie critics.

The decade that gave us a Clock Work Orange, Patton, Monty Python's Holy Grail, The Exorcist, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein , Johnny Got his Gun, Dirty Harry, The Godfather, Taxi Driver, Star Wars, The Deer Hunter, and Alien. - Amazing.

  • @Kubrickfan27 Yeah. Godfather, Cuckoo's Nest, Barry Lyndon, Star Wars, Annie Hall, Apocalypse Now, Network, Taxi Driver, The Exorcist, Chinatown. It was amazing.

  • @Kubrickfan27 I agree. Probably because films today are dominated by special effects & cameraman acrobatics. I just can't watch the films of today.

  • The Network was and still is the best

  • one thing i've noticed about movies today is that the better ones seem to be foreign or independent-not Hollywood.

  • make one for the 1960's i relly wan't to see a pshyco clip

  • 1970s = The Golden Age of Cinema.

  • @MorbidBliss22 agreed!!!!

  • it was the golden age! I think the 1990s was pretty cool too.

  • Awesome time travel. No scenes with Brando in The Godfather?

  • This song(excellent!)matches this video perfectly...I can't stop watching it ! So revellant for today..I love it...but IT MAKES ME WANNA CRY!!!!

  • @KOOKY1PANDORA Someone posted a video title The Films of The 70s - The Best Decade part 1 and 2. It,s worth finding.

  • I wish i could go on vacation to the 70s but not like live there

  • @catycatcat4

I kinda feel that way about the Victorian period. Wouldn't want to get sick there. I know it'd Dog Day Afternoon by the Elton John song as im typing here lol

  • @catycatcat4 The 70s was the best. We had so much freedom. In the 70s, everybody always seemed to be smiling and joking. Nobody took things too seriously. Every year had a new fad like the pet rock. Back then, we didn't worry about abductions, school shootings, terrorist acts, etc.

It was great to see new things introduced such as home video games, the personal computer, hand-held games, vcr, instant polaroid cameras, video disc players, 8-track, Mr. Coffee, etc.

    Glad i was there.

  • @catycatcat4

Hah, you read my mind. 70's is awesome.. the grime, the rawness, the innovation, large big boats, funky pimp coats, etc.

  • @catycatcat4 You wouldn't be saying that if you actually lived through the 70s.

  • ist blow out 1981

  • Comment removed

  • nobody cares

  • blow out

  • my old cousin (45yrs) told me about the 80s n 70s movies , songs , cars , styles , night life , sports , love or romance , brands , humours , schools or studies , food dishes and everything , to me 70s n 80s r the best decades ever , I WISH I WAS BORN IN 80S OR 70S not on 12 - 31 - 1989 :(

  • Well in order to have enjoyed it the best you should have been born around 63-67 at the end of the baby boomer gen. Because then you would have been in highschool during the late 70s early 80s

  • 1972- Best year of the century

  • What movie was it when the two men were playing cards?

and when somebody was limping from an elevator?

  • The one with the card game is The Sting

and I THINK the other one with the elevator is Dawn of the Dead. not sure though

  • The card scene is from The Sting and the elevator scene is from Dawn of the Dead. They're both real horrorshow movies.

  • AMOREENA from Dog Day Afternoon, is IMO, one of the best uses of music in cinema in the 70s, mos def the best decade for films, never see Dog Day Afternoon kind of film in a cinema no days.

  • Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, M.A.S.H. and Paper Moon are aborve all (Of course Annie Hall is hors concours)

  • I love this video

  • A lot of good Movies back then.

  • dog day afternoon?

  • correct

  • The influenence of the films of the 70's films is with us today. From the Slasher movies like Saw & Hostel to your typical big budget summer blockbusters, eg Transformers 2. Quentin Tarantino's has made a career referencing this decade.

  • @yodasteveo Yes, movies like Torso and Black Christmas. When i saw Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses i thought it was an original concept until i saw a trailer of a horror movie from the early 70s.

  • Thanks barringer82, it's highly appreciated.

  • great mashup. touches all the big bases, and a few small ones. good job

  • the guy who hasn't seen A Clockwork Orange is so lucky, he won't believe that a picture of a few men in weird costumes will turn out hopefully to be one of the greatest film he will ever see. Enjoy

  • It's interesting not seeing any heavy CGI scenes in older movies, no, quaint.

  • what is the movie at 2:06

  • lol.... Clockwork Orange, I'll kick ya in the Gulliver me lord.

  • Clockwork Orange! The movie that I was not allowed to see as a kid! LOL

  • I don't think that's Saturday Night Fever, I watched the film a couple weeks ago and I really don't remember that part. Besides, John looks older than he does in S.N.F. Thanks for answering my, I appreciate it.

  • What are the movies at: 0:40, 1:15, 1:45?

  • The last two are Saturday Night Fever and Tommy. Don't know about the first one.

  • Seven-Ups, Blow Out, Holy Mountain

  • I stand corrected. :-)

  • no worries.

Blow Out was in 81, so we all make slip-ups

  • Was Thelma Schoonmaker your teacher?

  • in many ways

  • this is probably the best song for this. I fell in love with it the minute I heard it on Dog Day Afternoon.

  • 1-Taxi Driver

    2-Star Wars

    3-THX

    4-Clockwork Organge

    5-Dawn of The Dead

    6)Apocalypse Now

  • Eraserhead and Network- surrealism to reality- excellent

  • At least this one hasn't been bastardized by Youtube.

  • Amen to that!!!

  • Nicely done.

  • my top three favorite movies of the 70's are harold and maud, a clockwork orange and star wars

  • Whats the movie 2:33 to 2:44

  • Network

  • What are the top 3 movies of the 70's that I should put into my decade's book - just for my my son - I want to do a fun book - I was born in 1970.

I'm thinking Grease, Jaws and ????? Any classics you think that really sum up the 70's? Thanks, and don't make fun of me !

  • @LongIslandBird It's difficult to narrow it to 3 when there so many great movies to choose from. Fun movies would be Star Wars, Bad News Bears, and Young Frankenstein.

While serious drama would probably be The GodFather or The Deer Hunter

  • Oh man! What an awesome decade for film, and a spectacular video! Thanks for taking the time to create this wonderful piece of work!

  • what are the movies... will you list them please?

  • that was the song used in the opening credits of dog day afternoon right?

  • The golden period of cinema...

  • @mybirthday0104 I also think it was the golden age of Directors like Spielberg, Coppola, Scorcesi, Ridley, Lucas, Carpenter, and Hooper. I'm sure there are other directors that i cant recall right now.

  • great speech!!! which movie is it from?

  • it's from "Network"

  • Sorry, I meant to ask which film it was at 0:40

    Anyone know?

  • It was Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, RingoW.

  • I don't think 0:40 was Butch Cassidy, I don't remember any car crash.

    Anyone else?

  • What film is it at 0:30?

  • blow out was made in 1981, not in the 70s.

  • Anyone know the movie in the beginnning at :31 (The car crash) ?? Thanks.

  • ƒrench connection

  • thank you so much ZLW516, I'll probably ask the same questions about some more of barringer82's videos. Again, thank you.

  • I'm a huge film buff and many of those I didn't know either, but here's what I got:

0:53 - "The Last Picture Show"

    1:05 - "THX 1138"

    1:15 - looks like "Blow Out" (1981)

    1:23 - "Paper Moon"

If anyone else knows the others I'd love to hear it too.

  • 0:51 is straw dogs

  • i got most of em.French connection, starwars,sting,deliverance,strawdogs, lastpictureshow,chinatown,jaws, andjusticeforalconversation,cucooks nest,thx, anniehall,enterthedragon,mash,papermoon, allthepresidentsmen,deerhunter, jeramiahajohnson,halloween, texaschainsawmassacer,dawnofthedead,lenny, godfather,clockworkorange,apocalypsenow, eraserhead,marathonman,taxidriver,network, fiveeasypieces,haroldandmaude, holygrail,willywonka,americangraffiti,meanstreets, dogdayafternoon,closeencounters

  • I got those but these two that keep haunting me are the one with the two women while hands pull handkerchiefs off their faces. The hands have black fingernail polish, so I thought it might be Phantom of the Paradise, but I haven't seen that. The other one that gets me is the one in the dark bedroom where there's some kind of statue and a person writhing in front of it. If anyone can deduce that from my vague recollection it would make my week!
