just came here to see [ahem] hear what Erna didn't want on the IV album, I can't but imagine this song atop the billboard charts with Sully's vocal endorsement, Crane's throat just doesn't do this song justice it's not unique enough
@92Roquemore I know what your saying however, the way you wrote your first comment could be interrupted by others that Godsmack and or a member of Godsmack wrote this song when that is completely false. I'm just making the point of (give credit where credit is due) and the credit for AA's biggest hit came in the way of Lee Richards personal issues.
Good music but I think it would sound so much better with Sully Erna's vocals. Seeing as how all the songs from Another Animal were taken from the writing sessions of IV it is obvious that they were meant for his voice and I think it is sad that these were not recorded as part of Godsmack...
@92Roquemore Actually, Erna nor any member of Godsmack wrote this song neither did Crane for that matter as "Broken" was penned by a man of the name Lee Richards, whom was Godsmacks original guitarist long before Tony Rambola ever came into the picture. Richards left Godsmack for personal reason but later landed with Dropbox however, the band broke up and "Broken" is a result of what he was feeling when Dropbox gave up. Also he wrote this song while he was with Godsmack on "The Other Side" tour.
@Evilshorns13 Check your facts again. First of all I'm not talking about 1 song here, I'm talking about the whole album. The band members have been quoted in interviews stating very clearly that they were luck to have so much material from the IV writing sessions left over and not recorded. They used these written tracks as bases for the songs from Another Animal. I'm not saying that it is a bad song, just that it would have been better if Godsmack had used it in their albums.
@scotty2scoops. This is John Kosco singing. he comes from the band Dropbox. Lead singer of Ugly kid joe is Crane whitfield... Shannon Larkin is in Ugly kid joe though. Larkin is also in the best band in the world. GODSMACK :D
@shorty95teddy do your homework bud this is Crane Whitfield from ugly kid joe I've seen them live, do your research before you comment and look like a dumbass
i have never heard this song until the other day when a AM radio sports used it to come back from a break. i immediately caled the station to ask who it was. i thought to myself i couldnt remember when AIC did this song. AIC influence???,...shit i thought it WAS AIC or AIC with another singer.
" Neil Young and Alice in Chains influence " ........ Sounds like good influence. Also I hear a bit of a Velvet Revolver ' ish sound.........and I dig it !!
great song.. powerful voice, sick guitar, lots of emotion. in a way reminiscent of AIC.. plz dont mention gosmack in a video this good. godsmack fucking sucks they have the same riff in every damn song & all they talk about is getting wasted & banging chicks.. fucken retarded.
@XxZakKeelingXx Yeah, Godsmack doesn't do that. Not to mention that uh yeah 3/5 of the band members are in Godsmack. Another one of them having been in Godsmack before. You're a complete moron.
@XxZakKeelingXx you, sir, are an ass. the only song they talk about "getting wasted" is in Whisky Hangover, there isn't ONE song that talks about "banging chicks", and they are surprisingly eclectic in what they produce. Sully, Robbie, Tony and Shannon are all excelent musicians, extremely versatile and all multi-instrumentalists, in case you haven't noticed.
so, beware of what you say about bands that you don't EVEN dream to know. if you don't know their work, don't say they "fucking suck".
Damn, this is deep like the BEST ( not the corporate release choices which were good, but more like CUST, Tomorrows World & 10 outta 10)UKJ stuff. You can feel the old gel of Larkin and Whit. excuse me while i head to amazon...

Damnnn I found you Mother fucker Ulgy Kid Joe I`m feel great Man, and look this band man, its a great band damn medias, its great see you again Croket, From Buenos Aires Argentina i hear you again man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another Animal doesn't seem that popular, and if you ask me, I truly do not understand why. They are a perfectly good band with great songs and were aired for a reason. Thumbs up if you agree :D
@ILuvSpyroandCynder i get what you are saying and i agree, but the reason they probably aren't popular is because its rock for one thing isn't the most popular genre right now, and this isn't the type of rock that a lot of people who do listen to rock like...its more different, rather than just being another version of nickelback. this is unfortunate, but true
@13loverrock Hopefully one day people will pull their heads out their ass. Until then people like you and I will enjoy this great music by ourselves :-)
@matthewberry77 learn your facts cuz im a diehard about music. Sully Erna from Godsmack had encountered writers block and Tony Rombola, Shannon Larkin, and Robbie Merrill went of and STARTED the band with Whitfield Crane, Soon to be joined by Godsmacks original guitarist Lee Richards
another great (and some how overlooked) band that has a HEAVY Neil Young and AIC influences alongwith a twist of Kurt Cobain is the........... Future Leaders of the World.doing their son........Let Me Out................ If you haven't yet.....check 'em out.
Please understand that Another Animal was a "project" not a "band" per say. All the respective members of this project are in a band and simply got together during some off time and made what many of uf us consider good music
I see that as a GOOD thing. Don't get me wrong, I loved UKJ back in the day - but this is up to date, heart felt rock goodness with oodles of soul and passion.
I don't really think that Another Animal and Godsmack should be compared too much. They're obviously very different bands that happen to have shared Robbie, Lee, and Shannon.
@Phunxk yes it was sad day when i heard he had passed. i remember exactly where i was. i was on I-10 on my way back home to houston. i spent the weekend in florida where i just won the florida championships in a foosball tournament. i just had the best tournament of my life but when i heard the news it put a damper on things. he had such a distinctive voice that didnt sound like every other band. he was a great singer.
@Megablast9 ah too bad man, i was like 11 when Layne died. Alice in Chains really helps me through bad times, bet their own music helped a lot of people get over the death of Layne... And with Duvall Alice In Chains has once again a great throat, but you can't beat Layne... Like their new stuff too though, but it's not that emotionally loaded as former songs. Black Gives Way To Blue does that though, and ironically, it's about Layne
@cromagg1 dude my comment has nothing to do with that my comment was in reply to this "i luv dis song but i heard dis when i was 3" lol No they are definitely influenced by AIC, Godsmack is the name of an AIC song, and even though they say they were named after an incident with sully making a comment about someones coldsore then him getting it calling it a "godsmack" they are definitely influenced by AIC therefore so is another animal since most of them are in Godsmack minus the singer
It won't. Both are different enough and diverse enough to exist as separate entities, and the guys all seem to have the commitment needed to keep it working.
