@porcimeaeinfloare yes thanks! I find a other video, it seems that he called this song Morning Raga (The Mother's call), well that's what I understood.
i agree with Tbirdbassist, why should anybody be restricted to playing only certain ways?? besides, this guy is handy enough finger style anyways, just put a search in for his name and see for yourselves.
It was not designed for that, you fool. It's all up to the player on what he used his instrument for. Just because it's not what you prefer and whats not the "standard" doesn't mean it a "waste".
Tony is a great fucking bassist and atleast he manages to get a good tones out of fretless with a pick.
Because a fretless bass is designed for a nice, smooth sound, preferrably in a jazz setting, but when you use a pick like that, it deteriorates that tone that fretless' are known for.

Tony is pure greatness but picks are for pussies. He's way better with only his "digits".

Picks are for pussies?
Tell that to Lemmy and he will have his Rickenbacker shove up your ass :)

I play bass with my fingers.
But due to my work in as Therapist I am not allowed to have any nails what so ever, so I use a pick to get more "treble" if you may.

Here is what he told me:
On that clip, I'm jamming on a theme that will be part of something from my bass album. It was part of a bass clinic.
Sorry it took me so long!

What's that he's play? It's sweet!
dragoon419 5 years ago
Hm...I was wondering that too. I could ask him later tonight if you like.
bass247 5 years ago
That would be sweet! Thanks in advance, if you could...
dragoon419 5 years ago
Sure thing! I forgot, I'll try and do it today.
bass247 5 years ago
Wow, he's fast with a pick. I know I couldn't do that. Tony ROCKS.

playing by the book is boring. creating your own style is what keeps playing an instrument interessting.

ITS TONY FRANKLIN!!!!! he can play however he wants

great play man...picking that fast in a fretless is pretty hard.
