"Catch the gay" is an expression I first heard from Rachel Maddow. I have borrowed heavily from her explanation of GOP prejudice in this regard. Ken Mehlman should explain that although he was living an active GOP lie in public, he found that he couldn't completely suppress who he was by simply being a GOP operative. Now that he has reconciled both parts of himself---the judging and overbearing mixed with living the truth outloud---they should take his example to heart and be honest first.
He should tell Republicans if they were able to hang out with him and support him for the last 20 years of his professional life and they haven't 'caught the gay,' then maybe they should rethink their prejudices.
I guess explain that it'd get them far more votes if they started supporting gay rights. It's really actually a shame that it's taken so long and it's about time that Republicans shed their Evangelical shells and supported something as basic as gay rights.
If the Palin's can be pro abstinence, why not a gay Mehlman? Not to say Mehlman would ever follow after the Palin's pure lifestyle. budumpbump.

Weissman's rule: people who are down on gays in public, are down on them in private.
