But I've always had the uneasy feeling that the guitarist was absolutely GREAT with the riffy stuff (in fact, one of the best I've ever heard), but not so good on solos. Don't get me wrong - this is one of the great albums of the 60s and 70s. But the guitarist is no Peter Green; David Kossof; Mick Taylor; Hendrix; Clapton or Dave Gilmour. I don't want to start World War III here, but does anybody want to provide some calm contribution to the conversation.
@jamcgar Tim Sult is very similar in that way, I think. These are smart guitarists that play to their strengths. Definitely changes the song writing mechanics and forces some interesting aberrations in the rock formula.
@jamcgar i agree! great riffs and what not but the solos are nothing special.. but none the less it fits and with the songs. the brilliant singer and brums make up for where the guitar lacks though.
I have this song on the Legends of the Mind album which is a 3 CD Set featuring a bunch of underground/progressive rock tracks from the late 1960s to the mid 1970s, great song.
