Pt.2) Agnostics are often thought of as being 'ATHEISTS'..this is not the fact. They are merely the doubting Thomas', yet believe in SOME form of creator. To expect that MAN can not explain this in full is only accepting your limitations instead of blaming ourselves or mankind in general for all our advancements AND woes. In the end..there is no answer. Only one scientific FACT...energy exists! You can not create it, you can not extinguish it ..it just transforms from one shape to another.
why does GOD have to be a Christian God!?? One creator is all..after that its just a call made by MAN! A call sent forth to control, and set law...and basically a slap in the face of all intelligent humans to say those intelligent ones need to be told and explained to what is right and wrong.
But what about if God exists and punishes people who believe things without sufficient evidence and rewards skepticism that is healthy as would be defined by application to the natural (not supernatural) realm? You have yet to show that this has a lower "Bayesian probability" than the other way 'round...
Why would a god be so fervently obsessed with the idea of belief or disbelief? What kind of a narcissistic mind would be involved in such a process? Who cares whether there is a god or not? Why does it matter, pragmatically speaking?
Christians are always trying to palm off the idea of faith, like it was something pivotal to the very life and death. Why? Isn't it more important to be a good and honest person? Isn't it more productive and constructive to act morally?
I forget the context in which I said. I don't see how that can't make sense, though. If I disbelieve atheism it just means, I would think, that when I consider the claim that God (or some specific god) doesn't exist, I form the propositional attitude of that being false. Does that make things more clear? Thanks for the interaction.
The context is irrelevant. The lack of a claim is not a claim itself. A-Theism is simply the lack of theism as an explanation for anything (if you can call it an explanation), but it does not entail any claims of its own.
"I form the propositional attitude of that being false"
Ok. I don't care so much about how you want to define atheism. If I said, "The Christian God exists", though, certainly you would say "No, the Christian God does not exist", right?
I don't know where you're at in the study of these things, but, just for future reference, only arguments can be valid or invalid, and validity only has to do with the logical form of the arguments, not their truth value./So let me just ask you, "Do you think it's false that the Christian God exist?"
Here's premise 1: "If the probability that God exists is positive and not infinitesimal, then wagering for God has the maximum expected utility." - this says nothing about belief or about getting into heaven./It seems or question is really directed toward the original version of PW, *not* my PWR. On PWR, belief doesn't get you into heaven - PWR doesn't not reference belief or what it takes to get into heaven./Thanks for the comments - keep them coming! - but please watch the video again. (:

Ever heard of focus?

@locohammerhead Yes, I have. Haha... I thought it would be a cool way to start the video with the music. Sorry if you didn't like it.

@drsuessre14 It just takes away from what you are trying to say and really makes the video hard to pay attention to.

So, option: do you think it's false that the Christian God exists or do you think it's improbable that the Christian God exists?

"disbelieve atheism"
??? That phrase makes no sense whatsoever.

"I form the propositional attitude of that being false"
It's already a negative statement.

drsuessre14 2 years ago
No, I would say, there is not enough evidence or good reasoning to justify that claim, so I'm not convinced that it's valid.

I think it is much more likely that that statement is false than true, yes.

Also, if you haven't already, looking at the side comments might help understand what I'm saying...on both videos.

A problem with premise 1, how do you know the mere belief in God is what will get you into heaven, surely an omniscent God can see through this.
