Anybody who said that he was better than Jahvid Best is crazy. Vereen has a lot to work on first. He's a third down back right now. But he's not a playmaker like Jahvid was. To me he just doesn't fit it yet.
Shane is great, and I think he will have a solid year. One thing I do like about him is how tough and durable he is. He fights for those extra yards, and hasn't had a serious injury yet. We didn't have that with Jahvid. But Vereen just lacks that initial burst and shiftiness downfield. Watching this, I don't know how many times I said to myself "Jahvid would have scored on that run." It seemed like where Jahvid was running for TDs, Shane was getting 1st downs. Still, expect a big year!
moving the chains consistently is much more important than the highlight reels. i think his running style is probably the best suited for the NFL out of all the past great cal backs (lynch, best) since he hits the hole and gets going downhill so quickly. his cuts are very sharp and don't slow him down much - he's very efficient in his movements. i know, not flashy, but very very effective
and he can catch? if he can pass-block, he'll definitely do well in the nfl. but yeah, he doesn't have that whoosh like jahvid best or that herky-jerky side-to-side weirdness that lynch had
