I had to put my boston terrier to down, dune to his diagnosis of parvo.He was 7 yers old. I took him to the vet to get shots and vaccinated when he was a puppy. Plus I take him the vet on every recent events, and evrything was going fine. Until it hit me that morning back in feb.. we was up and ready like usual. He was perfectly fine when I start feeding him and I was getting dressed. I kept calling his name numerous of time to lets go. Then I went to the back room, to see whats going on-

I found Jordan passed out on the floor. I had to rush him to the vet as quick as possible to see what was wrong with him.They say that he had to stay for a week for the results. In which the results came in and I was shocked and burst in tears. I asked my dad that I asked my dad. Is he gonna die? My dad respond, It's not that he's gonna die. They gonna put him to sleep. I told him please don't say that. I did'nt want to believe him. Until a Month later that they have too. My dad was right!!

@ThePunisherFan83 im so sorry:( But its better for your dog, and easier for that matter, being put to sleep. Mine was put to sleep yesterday. I herd a noise and came to see what was wrong, my spaniel was on the floor having a siezure, he didnt know what was going on. He was awake, but it was like he did not understand what he was seeing. We rushed him to the ER vet and they said he had a brain tumor. He was 14, and died peacefully in my arms:) exacly the same way the vet in this video did it.

@Saph58 I just put my dog to sleep yesterday, it was by far one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. I still remember picking him at a little league baseball game 11 years ago. He was a fat little puppy with big paws; I instantly fell in love with him. The worst part about it is that I went away to college this Fall, and that's when my dog starting taking a turn for the worst (not eating, skinny, tumor around heart and stomach). My darling girl was sedated and then euthanized. It was not an easy process. The last thing she did before she exhaled for the last time, was to scream in fear, even though she had been asleep before!

Nobody warned me, but afterwards the vet told me this *did* happen sometimes.

When it's time again, I would much prefer a headshot while the dog is happy outside, not suspecting anything.

My darling cat died three days ago at the vet's. She was supposed to have an ultrasound, and I was waiting to take her home. The vet came out and said that she had lung cancer and I should have her euthanized. She was supposed to be brought to me after initial sedation. But they couldn't find a vein. By the time they told me, she was already brain dead, though still gasping horribly for air. She suffered horribly and with strangers; isn't there another protocol when they can't find a vein?

I am about to lay down my dog, he's 8yrs, 1month and 6 days, and he has this incurable skin disease. His skin is flaking and he had bitten himself on his leg.

He used to have heartworm but he has gone through that. Its really painful for me to let go because I think he's a fighter. I was the only one left in the family who doesn't want to put him to sleep until yesterday when I finally let it sink in. That he is really sick, and he is almost infecting our other dogs.

@pizzazzylioness Same with my dog.... I put her down 5 days ago because she had a skin disease.. It caused very bad internal bleeding mostly in the lungs.. She was 3 years old and died with a strong spirit... She didn't want to go, hell I didn't want her to go. When we gave her the shot on the very brused up arm she yelped like crazy, bit me, my mom, the vetinarian. So we had to go to the other arm as qiuck as possible.. it hurt bad to watch that and I don't want to watch another dog suffer....

I am hoping you never had or have to put a pet down, as it's a terrible situation that the heart & mind have to battle with, especially if you were bonded closely with the pet. I don't believe we have the right to take life away from an animal like this. Unless it's necessary, my friends dog was suffering her stomach and bladder where turning on her and it caused her chronic pain. But for something like cancer it's not right, my grandmother had breast cancer but did she blow her brains out for that? No she lived her life to the fullest until it was her time. Dogs are no different they have a right to there life and we can't take that away from them. It's murder!

My dog had a malignant tumour which had doubled in a week. This had eaten away at the bone in his jaw. We were going to take him to have the jaw reconstructed, no matter the cost, but for the reason of the sheer pain he would experience going through that, and even then, not knowing if the cancer would reappear we decided to have him put to sleep. He was already under opperation anasthetic, so we assume that this would be less painful. We had him put down, and already miss him. R.I.P Charlie.

Remember folks, as we leave our own bodies upon dying. So do our animals, and just like us, they will ALWAYS be around in spirit. I am a firm believer in this theory, and have felt my own deceased animals, showing some form of body language or signs, in my new animals behavior. Nothing can obviously replace, years of companionship and loyalty, from a deceased pet. However, for me they are ALWAYS still around in spirit. I knew, once i could accept that, everything was going to be just fine.

As other folks on here, have already explained. There is NOTHING worse, than watching your; friend, companion, protector, spirit lifter, & finally animal put to sleep. You already know going into it, that it won't be emotionally easy. However, you continue the procedure anyway, because you can't stand to see your animal in pain any longer. And since i've had a few experiences, doing this with my own pets. I could feel there spirits, finally saying to me thank you.

Ive been working morning and evenings at a near vet over my summer vacation. (I'm only 16 so, yeah) and today was my FIRST real full day working with walk ins, and the FIRST patient that walks in was a 13 year old dog,She had been vomiting and other horrid things for a week nonstop, the owners were so heart broken, they knew she wasn't gonna get any better...When i was Told they were putting her down I just froze.when i was in the room with the doc and dog, idk.

It's the fact that the dog doesn't know what's about to happen to it. The dog probably thinks that it's being injected with a needle to cure a minor sickness or something.
