00 is the best gundam series so far. The main thing I like about 00 is that there arent many crazy relationships between pilots and ship operaters (cough cough Seed and Destiny). 00 movie was kinda confusing, and i wish they added more to it, but it is a step in the right direction, as this reviewer has said
I've been feeling aloof about Gundam for a while because I thought SEED was such a snorefest. 00 really exceeded my expectations though. While not completely original, something I don't really hold against Gundam series, it was still different and I felt it took some of the best elements from Gundam especially the good parts of Wing (like the specialized Gundams) without all the bad ones. The modern political commentary was surprising. Was great seeing something other than WWII in space again.
I watched this whole series + the movie and the notes you touched on were well said and explained. I agree most of the character don't have a wide huge character development but I think the most important things were who survives and who bears the terrible events that happen throughout the whole series. Overall good review and I would give this also a 4/5 rating.
I found the series ok but the story and characters where indeed flawed. Even though I watched the whole series in practically one sitting, I still had plenty of questions about the plot. But my least favorite part about the series however was the characters. The characters were well done imo in season 1 and shit in season 2. Allelujah was probably my least favorite since the dual personality thing was pulled off horribly and just a nuisance.
I think alot of people feel that the Trinity was never really meant to be developed in the first place. They were only supposed to go in and accellerate the plan.
I think the only reason Gundam 00 overrated if at all is because it came after gundam seed destiny. Otherwise if probably would be seen as a decent, solid gundam series by most.

You can blame the top brass of Sunrise for making it into two seasons. Then again maybe they were wary of anyone else turning in their scripts late like in destiny.

Not much is explained "how" Allelujah had that split personality other than it's possibly a humanistic anomaly. But that's fine because Allelujah is an example of the Super Soldier project. I didn't care is there's less attention to the Trinities because I despised them. It's been a long time since I "really" hated an anime character, and because of that, the Trinities were a great spectacle of evil characters, much like Ribbons, even though he doesn't "look" intimidating.
Personally I prefer season 2 when it comes fighting because the Gundams didn't curb stomp the enemies like in S1 and winning depended on piloting skills and not ony the machines. (Sure 00 Raiser started curb stomping everything) Looking back I feel pretty selfish and like a man-child seeing my old response toward your review. I do find it funny that 00 has aspects that make it a remake of Wing but at the same time it does surpass it in various ways.

The main thing that irked me about the series was Tieria's character design. I mean, why didn't they just make him a woman in the first place instead of just making him look like one. I mean it would've been awesome to see a chick in heavy weapons duty instead of just the medic or the cheerleader like they usually do. I also think it was cheap with what they did with lockon in the second season.
@Reaper00140 hey, i felt a little weird about terria as well, but after a while, i grew to like him. to prove it, i felt really upset after seeing ribbons shoot and kill him. then overjoyed seeing him take control of seraphem for trial mode.
I can't really call myself a gundam fan seeing as Ive only watched 00, but I have watched A LOT OF ANIME. But from what Ive seen character design's in 00 just seem to appeal to my eye more. And the reason they were able to use tran's am a lot more in the second series is because they only had 4 Gundam's and there only real advantage was tran's am and "unlimited particles" and I thought setsuna got even more interesting during the season giving you some of the largest goosebump in anime history.
I think Tierea was intentionally made to look genderly indistinguishable due to the fact that he's esentially not a human, but...whatever they call 00's test-tube babies...
Never would have guessed Ali was voiced by the same guy as Duo.
I love Graham Aker as a character. In the first season I kept hoping for more screen time and in the second I was interested in getting to see him more and how he developed but aside from his rivalry with Setsuna I felt like Mr. Bushido might as well have been some new character that shared the obsession. I wish he had shown up more but I think they're trying to ease out of having char clones in every series, hence Ali al saarches
after watching the series and other gundams i think this was proberly one of the best after the universel centurey i have seen zeta and the first gundam and others but for newbies i think they should start with this

@TheAnimeOverviewer Well here's how I thought Gundam seed eternity would have played out. Yes the Earth Alliance is through, but not Blue Cosmos. They rebuild as a terrorist mercenary group, kinda like the KPSA or the Zanscare Empire. It falls abroad to the Zaft/Orb alliance to take them down.
In response to you saying that the characters were underdeveloped because of the length of the series, I thought they were developed quite well, you just have to pay close attention to it. Ex. Setsuna and Feldt's relationship seems to come out of nowhere, but if you consider that they spent some time together after you-know-who died and the fact that she was glad he survived after 5 years of not seeing him as well as the fact that she gave him a flower and told him not to die. (Kind of obscure).
I loved this series. the only thing I didn't like was the title gundam meister. I especially liked how most of the people who we didn't think were gonna die died and the people we hated (ali al and nena) didn't die till the end.
@TheAnimeOverviewer well there are a few suits that are wait no that has a few gundam elemants such as a super black and golden yellow colors has like the blast impulse gundam , with the two red (gn looking) beams that shoots alot of badass killos
@deadair101 here is no definite answer, though most hardcore fans will say the Original is the best. Alot of people say Wing, but that's usually only because they have little experience with Gundam. First Gundam's art is of course outdated, but it's story and characters more than make up for it. Or try checking out The 08th MS Team.

It may be old but don't let that deter you. It's still pretty good. If you're looking for OVA's, check out 0080 War in the pocket, or the 08th MS team. WHat I like about gundam that it sticks to giant robots in hand drawn animation, and I find that more fascinatiing than, let's say, watching those Michael bay Transformers films. Personally i like the complex politocal and moral situations where the mechs jsut serve as a tool and could have been replaced with a simple gun (though mechs are way cooler). While I do feel that Graham redeemed himself in the movie, both Mr. Bushido and Char failed to defeat their respective rivals. Plus Char's rivalry with Amuro only deepens. If Hallelujah did turn on Celestial Being that would just be boring as hell, this show didn't need that kind of drama. Graham did fail to beat Setsuna yes but it ended very close, Graham could had killed Setsuna easily when the 00's drives failed but being badass as he is he spared Setsuna's life for another fight. If they cut Saji and louise out they could have added to Graham in S2.

Unlike Gundam Wing the Meisters work as a team and Gundams are actually designed with strategic significance. This, I felt, made the battles the best in the metaseries barring the realism approach of '8th M.S.' Not to mention that the A-LAWs were everything the Titans failed to be.
I agree with you on the Innovates, but 'Meisters' is not as pretentious as Ribbon's last suit.
And 'though this may sound sad, I liked that Setsuna's love life was unconventional. Laugh if you want-I know I was.
The movie will fufill the thematic ending it's a conclusion to the plot thats very well done as setsuna does it peacefully through understanding which is what the series theme was
when u say the design of the mechs are not original, what about both lockon Stratos gundams sniper ability and Tieria hidden ability (having a extra gundam behide ), thats a first for me

i will admit gundam 00 does have it's flaws but out of all the alternate universe gundams it is my favourite. for alternate universe gundam series i have seen wing, seed/seed destiny(before i got sick of it) and g gundam. i was planning on watching gundam x but after i finish watching zeta gundam
I totally agree with about the characters and that the series was only 25 episodes long each. I felt that the staff had something planned for Nena's character when she saved Setsuna and then it derailles in later episode. And when she died I found myself asking what was the point of keeping her around for so long. As for Mr. Bushido, has got to have the worst timing I've seen in gundam series (if they others please tell me) picking a fight with setsuna when the orbital elevator was collasping
The point of keeping Nena around was so Louise could kill her and learn something about the cycle of revenge.
Also, the fight between Mr. Bushido and Setsuna happened in a significant amount of time before the elevator fell, since Setsuna afterward had time for his shoulder wound to heal in order to perform the raiser sword.
I found the series to be okay...Ihad a lot more favourite characters than in seed/desteny like Lockon,Graham,Sergei, AND MOTHERFUCKING ALI AL SAANCHEZ MAN THAT GUY IS FUCKING AWSOME TALK ABOUT A BLOOD KNIGHT MAN!!!!!!!
i think both seasons could have been maybe 35-50 episodes each to allow more time for the character development and usage. plus, we could see more nadleeh and seraphim. as for the innovados, i have found official books here in japan, in which their sex is considered unknown, lol. love you by ito yuna is also an excellent song.

@deadair101 I have, but I wouldn't classify it so much as a mech anime since the mecha element is pretty much secondary compared to Gundam.

@deadair101 here is no definite answer, though most hardcore fans will say the Original is the best. Alot of people say Wing, but that's usually only because they have little experience with Gundam. First Gundam's art is of course outdated, but it's story and characters more than make up for it. Or try checking out The 08th MS Team.

@TheAnimeOverviewer What is the best gundam I should watch next? I have seen Wing and G only and one thats really old when I was like 7 that I really enjoyed. Oh, and btw could you please just check out my vid of me playing the G Gundam battle theme on piano. @CrimsonPiano Well it's up to you. What do you feel like watching? Something old-school? New school? Short or long? Personally i'd recommend the Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy. It may be old but don't let that deter you. It's still pretty good. If you're looking for OVA's, check out 0080 War in the pocket, or the 08th MS team. Or you could check out some of my other gundam reviews and see which tickle your fancy.

@TheAnimeOverviewer I think I'll watch the movie trilogy. Anywho I am in the mood for something old school. WHat I like about gundam that it sticks to giant robots in hand drawn animation, and I find that more fascinatiing than, let's say, watching those Michael bay Transformers films. I appreciate works of hand drawn art a lot.

@CrimsonPiano Another reason I hated seed because the animation sucked and I did not like the artwork as well as wing, G, and that other Gundam that I wacthed as a kid which, come to think of it I think it was the 08th MS. anyway thanks.

the only problem i have with this series i the music which i hate in all gundam series besides seed and destiny...... and the battle scenes are to short and there are not enough of them

@JerBear772 And this is why seed is perfect for you since u seem to prize the flashy robot fights. I am not gonna down u for that like most people do because ur allwoed to like what u like. Personally i like the complex politocal and moral situations where the mechs jsut serve as a tool and could have been replaced with a simple gun (though mechs are way cooler). Personally i hated Seed cause the fights didnt have much of a point and ever though they were cool teh firs time they repeat scenes

gundam 00 was the first gundam show i saw but yet i never finshed it i moved on the zeta and unicorn and haven't finshed them yet but the only one i have seen and finshed was f91 but for some reason alot of the film was cut out that made me very confused but i still like gundam and i am watching zeta now these days but good reveiw same about what i thought about this show apart from the second season because its hard to find the episodes plus anime is not really shown in uk

Dude you are so destined to be murdered now, questioning Hallelujah is your death wish kid. Unlike most reviewers you have an intelligent way of saying why you like the first season more than the second with an actual thought instead of the idiotic reason of "Because it is." Mister Bushido being a nuisance? Sorry but Char is Mister Bushido's bitch. The show would had been better without Saji, Louise or Marina that's for damn sure.

@CyberSlayer128 Dude, just chill out. I'm just saying that I wish they played to the Hallelujah aspect a little more. It did serve to connect Al to Soma, but I would've liked it if Hal served as a threat to Celestial Being to up the drama. Also, Char as Mr. Bushido's bitch? While I do feel that Graham redeemed himself in the movie, both Mr. Bushido and Char failed to defeat their respective rivals. Plus Char's rivalry with Amuro only deepens. Mr. Bushido's felt a little superficial in comparison

@TheAnimeOverviewer Hallelujah does add character yes but he also does serve a purpose as you see in the movie. If Hallelujah did turn on Celestial Being that would just be boring as hell, this show didn't need that kind of drama. Graham did fail to beat Setsuna yes but it ended very close, Graham could had killed Setsuna easily when the 00's drives failed but being badass as he is he spared Setsuna's life for another fight. If they cut Saji and louise out they could have added to Graham in S2.

gundam 00 revives the gundam franchise from the seed/destiny fiasco but you get that with every good franchise like how star trek enterprise killed star trek
but if anything gundam unicron fully revived it any really should it is freakin awsome

Unlike Gundam Wing the Meisters work as a team and Gundams are actually designed with strategic significance. This, I felt, made the battles the best in the metaseries barring the realism approach of '8th M.S.' Not to mention that the A-LAWs were everything the Titans failed to be.
I agree with you on the Innovates, but 'Meisters' is not as pretentious as Ribbon's last suit.
And 'though this may sound sad, I liked that Setsuna's love life was unconventional. Laugh if you want-I know I was.

The movie will fufill the thematic ending it's a conclusion to the plot thats very well done as setsuna does it peacefully through understanding which is what the series theme was

oh yeah i forgot plus i think this was the first time i saw a gundam pilot use a haro for help but what about tieria gundam within a gundam (Nadleeh strip itself into Virtue or Seravee having a smaller gundam in it back) i am petty sure that a frist for me unless u know they uses this before then let me know but tell me what u think about his gundam?

i will admit gundam 00 does have it's flaws but out of all the alternate universe gundams it is my favourite. for alternate universe gundam series i have seen wing, seed/seed destiny(before i got sick of it) and g gundam. i was planning on watching gundam x but after i finish watching zeta gundam

I totally agree with about the characters and that the series was only 25 episodes long each. I felt that the staff had something planned for Nena's character when she saved Setsuna and then it derailles in later episode. And when she died I found myself asking what was the point of keeping her around for so long. As for Mr. Bushido, has got to have the worst timing I've seen in gundam series (if they others please tell me) picking a fight with setsuna when the orbital elevator was collasping

The point of keeping Nena around was so Louise could kill her and learn something about the cycle of revenge.
Also, the fight between Mr. Bushido and Setsuna happened in a significant amount of time before the elevator fell, since Setsuna afterward had time for his shoulder wound to heal in order to perform the raiser sword.

i think both seasons could have been maybe 35-50 episodes each to allow more time for the character development and usage. plus, we could see more nadleeh and seraphim. as for the innovados, i have found official books here in japan, in which their sex is considered unknown, lol. love you by ito yuna is also an excellent song.

@TheAnimeOverviewer Ok, I was just wondering because you have some pretty deep analyze, and I took a film analyze class recently. And found from that class that watching it twice helped. Because you could story and everything the first time, and then break it down the next times.
