Wow - church heavy rock. Amazing how a single instrument and person can make such an incredible sound. Wish I'd been there to hear - and feel - it first hand.
It is indeed amazing how well the organ in ND sounds with this registration. Now we know the organ still can sound nearly as beautiful as in Vierne's time. It's all a matter of pulling the right stops! Thanks a lot for this and the other performances!
This is the best I have heard the organ of Notre Dame de Paris sound since before the 1990 bastardization uh i mean restoration. Bravo to your brilliant performance.
@jeanseborg Vierne did use this organ. In fact he died on the console. He was a titulaire. Are you talking about an organ in his personal possession? (this is notre Dame in the Video.
@MrsAlexisClyde I meant that in this recording the organ of Notre-Dame was sounding mostly like "Vierne's organ" (at Vierne's time") but I have listen again to it and I don't know why I tought that 4 months ago because it sounds more like Cochereau's organ (ND of course)...
A fantastic piece and a SUPERB organ. Both Cavaille-Coll and Charles Tournemire were brilliante, each in his own way.

I have a question. Was this song improvised at some point? It says Improvisation in the title. :D

@sediavindivoh
As I know Tournemire did many improvisations. The organist himself did not seem to do one in here.
Tournemire did not write down the notes. The sheets were created by Durufle listening to a recording in radio^^
The organist of the basilika in my home town told that one morning in a matinee.

Charles Tournemire was a great improviser but this piece is a written down as a part of the large organ cycle L’Orgue Mystique (No. 51).
