It only freezes on certain games. Black ops & assassins creed II mainly.

You forgot about putting thermal paste down before putting the heatsink down.

You also lie when you say you don't need special tools- what about the torx needed to remove the motherboard and the RF unit?!

Why buy the repair guide when you can just use this? I have 2 xbox's. One of them has 3 rings so I'll try it tommorow and the other one over heats easily so I have to have a fan blowing over it and the disc drive is fucked. Lawl

doesnt work.. i just did it all step by step followed other videos too... however now it doesnt have 3 red lights flashing it has 2.. i turn the xbox on and the fan begins to work 2 seconds later the fan shuts down, and 2 red lights start flashing..

ya did same fucking thing 2 lights but if u heat like 4 spots up it satrts working again but only 4 a few hrs and leave the top part off so colling system can feed more air

or at 3:04 in the vid your see thoses 4 pink squares thoses are insulation take thoses off and make four stacks of pennies each stack being 2 pennies tall make sure you have no metal exposed on the pennies then take a bottle of heat sensetive salovent glue put about 2 drops where the pink squares used to be attach the pennies let dry for 5 minutes make sure they dont fall off and no salovent gets on the motherboard once completed reassembly your 360 and get to playin

ok nobody listen to this guy obviously he doesnt know what hes talking about the towel trick is perfectly safe to do and all you have to do is place some pennys rapped in electrical tape on the hest sink and make sure no metal from the pennys is exposed once their rapped really you want to make 6 pennys anlone warpped and 3 doubled up then tape to the top of the heat sink whichs pulls heat away thus solving your overheating issuess

why coudent of microsoft had modified the heat sink to fit over the dvd drive it coud have saved a lot of xboxs and save them money but the heat sink im talking about is the ps3 heat sink i modified mine from a spare heat sink it tokes around a day tell your friends about the repair and dont tell microsoft after my first 360 died i found out that this mod might have saved my xbox so i put it on my new one

i got the red ring of death about half a year ago and wrapped it in a towel till it shut itself off took about 16 mins and after i did it i cooled it off for about 15 mins and now i got the intercooler ts on it and keep it on its side and my xbox 360 has been working great i havent had one problem with it!
