That was a Thursday afternoon game and as usually the Pirates Suck. No one wanted risk the chance on going through military check points so no one show up for the game.
Good day for the cheap seat fans though. They probably let everyone move closer to the field. I went to a Cardinals game one Sunday, rained 3x by the time they started the game again there was only about 5,000 fans left there, so I went down to the edge of the field :)
Was that game on thursday 9/24/09 ? I read in the news that the paid attendance was 15,892 — well above PNC Park's all-time low of 8,201 on April 25, 2007, for an Astros-Pirates game — but the actual turnout was about 3,000. Because of the G20 conference.
