anyone that thinks its cheaper to mod a 6 cyl vs an 8 cyl and get the same power to dollar ratio is high... of course im high right now... shit what the fuck was i saying... uhhh hmmm...
@noobwellrecords its possible man but u need time and money. the 03-04 cobra had a 32valve supercharged v8 with forged internals and such. u would also need the tranny, but the enigne and tranny will bolt right up. now the costs. an 03-04 cobra engine will cost u anywhere from 7-15k for just the enigne the tranny would probably sost another 2.5-5k. . if ur low on cash just get a 99cobra and twin turbo that. way faster than the setup ur tryin to have
Yeah that is true motor for motor but the main reason people stroke and build a V6 Mustang is to put a Big Ass Supercharger or a Turbo and then you making big power..Also a full build on a V6 mustang with a built tranny, motor, and rear end plus appearance mods is around 20K..A V8 would be what at least 35K with just mechanical stuff and both are without labor..
dude did u get your turbo from tam? if u did how did u get in contact with them cause i emailed them and they didnt reply cause i want there twin gt30r turbo kit .
I have a 2000 mustang v-6 automatic. Is it even possible to put a cobra engine in it and make it into a stick? If so about how much would it cost? I want to give it alot of power but don't quite know how.
@NoobwellRecords Anything is possible with enough time and money.... but you're better off just finding a cobra and buying it. You'll have way too much time and money wrapped up in a project like this to justify doing it. (Not to mention the chances of everything working like you want them to are pretty slim unless you have a lot of experience doing something like this. (And if you're asking on here, I doubt you do.)
@NoobwellRecords It would cost you more than a Cobra.. You would have to get new suspension new rear end reinforce frame.. basically you would have to rebuild the car
@NoobwellRecords look buddy you do know that there are junkyards that have all the stuff you need for a fraction of the cost of buying a new engine/tranny/turbo. learn how to do and it wont cost you much money but it will cost you some elbow grease and thats a great trade off.
Hey man! I just bought a 2000 v6 mustabg and a lot of peolple told me I shouldn't spend money for modifications '' I sould get a V8 bla bla bla''. But I want an answer from a V6 guy...Do it worth it?
@ChronoCrossKid Actually spend 1800 bucks on a 4.3L assemble from Super Six Motorsports and it will handle 1200+hp and up to 45psi of boost...But you have to have a suspension and tranny to take the power.
I have a 01 Mustang, 3.8, 5 speed. It's all up to your finances man, im just a high school student and I already went through one Mustang, now im on my second, but they were always 3.8's. You see girls love Mustangs..and usually they don't know the difference. So it's all up to you, impress the girls..or the guys. I myself never lost a race in my 3.8, except to GT's. But I have also beaten a GT before which I will never let down haha. Hope that helps haha
well if you new a thing or two about engines and how they work and actually working on cars that making modifications to increase power takes ALOT of work to get your numbers up. this guy has done alot looking at the specs. you shoulda got a v8 because you could throw some bolt ons and get good power plus you just dont get that good sound of power from a v6 as you would from a v8
@zr2chevypickupman That is true but there is one thing your missing...Power to Weight Ration..A V6 weights a hell of a lot less than a V8 and when your like itschristorres8 or 700hpv6 you make the V8 guys pay!
@TheMrhoneycutt not really, the aftermarket performance industry just doesnt produce that many parts for v6 engines, their are parts but very little selection. id go with v8 because theirs more selection in aftermarket parts, more power and potential. you have to remember displacement is a core hot rod technique
@zr2chevypickupman You don't need 50 companies making parts just a few good ones..SSM makes an array of parts that are all great..And who said anything about a hot rod technique lol..Not trying to start anything but just saying V8s aren't always the best..Think of it like this ..V8 Insurance is higher bucks a stroker for a V8 is what than V6 Insurance..V8 Parts are higher than V6 Parts..A Stroker for one of these is 1800 bucks a stroker for a V8 what is like 3K minimum..?Sometimes V6=WinV8=lose
@TheMrhoneycutt lol some times its better to have a selection than to have only 2 choices. and when your buying a sports car people usually buy based on performance so the added cost is something you deal with. And if your looking to make big power and getting a stroker in a v6 you might as well just dump a v8 and cam it, youd probably get more power than a stroker v6
@zr2chevypickupman there are plenty of parts available for the ford v6, or specifically the mustang. as for the power and potential, you have a valid point, more displacement=more power, but you can do wonders with lower displacement motors also, and most of the time the build is cheaper than the build would be for a v8 to get the same power. everyone will want what they want, but dont completely rule out the other side, they have plenty of potential to acquire some crazy numbers too
@Granddorifto I know this is an old comment, but I went through the modding my v6 phase. Cammed, full intake, full exhaust, etc. No it wasn't worth it. I sold my car and bought a 99 Cobra. Instant gratification.
If you have to ask... you don't port your heads yourself. You buy ported heads from a reputable source. (RPM-Mustangs or SuperSixMotorsports mostly) And no, transmission has nothing to do with the work you can do to the engine. Hope that helps.
@jakefmxrider Those people aren't asking a random person on youtube how to do it. And just because you CAN p&p yourself, doesn't mean you should. A good pair of CNC'd ports will outperform a diy job most days just because of the time and research involved. (Not that there is a lot of CNC porting happening in the v6 community.) In any case, it's better to leave it to people with experience, which xPRKWAYxDRIVEx obviously does not have.
The internals holding up has a lot to do with having a good, safe tune. I feel comfortable at my current power level right now but if I was to go higher, north of say 400hp I would definitely consider going forged. The stock T-5 likewise should handle around 400hp... for a while. ;)
so, did you blow your engine up yet? im afraid to run that kinda power on stock internals but i guess its an excuse for a 4.3l build.

if you have money - yes. you can buy a built 4.3L stroker motro for $7600 and will handle 500+ hp.
makes 300+ hp on N/A and its warranteed to handle up to 20psi boost on a good tune.

what exactly is a "dyno run"?
fotofinish4 3 years ago
A pull on a dynamometer, in this case to measure air/fuel ratio and power, measured in horsepower, at the wheels.
tbone7281 3 years ago
is it cammed it sounds much more agressive than most v6's

Yes, it's cammed.
