  • So, in summary, 'greed corrupts even the best of intentions' For instance, did you want to post the plan Kucinich proposed?

  • Socialism is EVIL! Gimme a break!. How dumb can you be. But if Socialist states are evil so is the entire Europe. The U.S. needs UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE! Freedom of choice? The insurance companies chooses its candidates. There those people with insurance coverages who still die because they are being denied costly operations. Being social and living is a social state is the best thing of HUMANITY, it is out obligation to help the people in need.

  • Kucinich's plan is very unrealistic and romanticized, but he is on the right side of the argument. But too much of an idealist to use his brain..... counter productive to the cause.

  • Health Care is not a right given in the constitution.

It is time for people to stop looking at the government for help. You see how incompetent they are at running our country, what makes you guys think they will take care of you when your sick. Whatever happened to self reliance?

Although I disagree with Kucinich's helthcare policies, I respect him for speaking out against the current establishment.

  • dude you are an idiot. He has made no plans of backing down and will not. i happen to respect him as a real candidate. as a matter of fact the only real candidate. i agree completley with mirsmagicmoments people just vote for who the media tells them to and insted of having a democracy the media chooses who is our next president.

  • You are a real loser! That's right vote, for the candidates that are paid by the big corporations to keep them rich....Kucinich running this country would be just a dream come true..unfortunately most of Americans do not even know any other candidates besides the top rich ones which the media have chosen for us.....good luck living in the clouds.

  • Kucinich 2008!

    Strength through Peace.

  • Who has your vote Q?

  • Not someone from the UK

Why are you all glued to a US election?

  • dennis4president (google it)

I am voting for Dennis Kucinich for President, because he is the only one who voted against the war 5 years ago and every single time since then.

-Has a plan to end the war, H.R. 1234

-Has a UNIVERSAL health plan that covers every woman, man and child for medical, mental, dental, vision and longterm care H.R. 676

-Moved articles of impeachment on November 6-07 kucinichtv (google it)

  • I am voting for Dennis Kucinich for President, the voice of reason, passion, compassion. Dennis will win the presidency,

There are three things one cannot hide for long: the sun, the moon and the truth. Dennis speaks the truth.

  • If Dennis were tall, he would be the front-runner in the primaries. He is the best of the lot.

  • Denis is the only candidate offering real universal healthcare. Check his website and understand his plan.

    He will have my vote!

  • Go on.. tell us who has your vote?

  • Q- Who do you like?

  • Follow the white rabbit...

  • Dennis, YOU ROCK!

  • Kucinich got the most votes in the DFA poll! 50,0000 votes. He won as he will win the presidency!

    Dennis

  • RON PAUL 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dennis is a very smart man. Government does such a great job at everything. Government has worked wonders for the people in the path of hurricane Katrina. Government has done a great job in Iraq. So, yeah, let's turn over our health care system to government.

  • if you all like kucinch, then why arnt you all getting behind RON PAUL. he has the momentum and a real chance to become president. dont be scared that hes running as a "republican", he knows the system is bias to 3rd parties running. vote for the constitution, vote RON PAULLLLLLLLLLL

  • Ron Paul is a right wing nut. He will kill workers rights for people here in the United States. A "freer market" equals less worker's rights.

Kucinich will not only end that war but he will also ensure worker's rights here in the United States. Paul will not do that.

  • Dennis voted against giving Bush authority to invade Iraq, voted against NAFTA, the Patriot Act.

Dennis is for not for profit health care and a living wage for working Americans.

    Come on vote working Americans!

  • Vote Dennis Kucinich in your state primary.

  • Linguy, have you heard my songs?

  • Yes, I have heard some of your songs, a while ago.

  • Linguy, see if he's interested in a campaign song, will you?

  • Aside from this The only thing I am curious about still regarding the voting process is whether or not the last two presidential elections were rigged. Do our votes matter at all?

  • Change=Kucinich. He is the only viable option. All the other candidates will just be more of the same. How anyone with a heart can vote for anyone but kucinich just completely baffles me. What the fuck is wrong with us? If people vote for more of the same they deserve more of the same and every time they complain about the effects of it I will turn a deaf ear to them. Period.

  • am voting ONLY for Dennis Kucinich. I am voting with my heart, I am voting with my intellect, I am voting with my conscience. That is why I am voting for Dennis Kucinich!

  • Yes I agree, it should be mandatory that Universal health care should be OPTIONAL and available to all Americans, but not be a madatory OBLIGATION required of ALL Americans. The people should always have the choice and freedom to maintain their own health. Don't let Hilary and Edwards take that option.

  • this guy for dems, ron paul for republicans. too bad neither of them stand a chance of winning. :(

  • here here!!!

tough choice but i'd go with dennis because of his corporate regulation stance

i also think many libertarians feel that way

small government is good, until walmart takes over

  • Wilbur,

Beware of trolls. These people will say something controversial, or out right lies, to bait you into arguing with them. If you have the energy, go for it, brother. If you don't, I think you realize that DENNIS KUCINICH has our interests in mind and his victory is assured!

  • Our colleges are filled with foriegners while Americans can't afford to get in, unless they're good at basketball. The government already controls your life, you can't even decide whether or not to wear a seatbelt in your own car. The insurance companies 'own' healthcare now and only want to give it to healthy people that won't make claims to cut into their profits.

  • Octo: I may not be as educated as you but what I've seen since Reagan is a careening to the right which has only made life even better for the filthy rich who don't need any help from government, and worse for the rest of us. All governments take money from their people, ours is no exception. What I want is SOMETHING BACK for this money, MY MONEY and yours.

  • That is a fantasy based in Democratic rhetoric. They will take your money, and more so if you let them. What you get back is the government controlling more of your life and taking more of your money. The more you allow them to control, the more money they will need. Vote for lower taxes and less control over your life.

  • UHC is all about control. The Government owns Healthcare, can give it to who they believe is most worthy, at whatever interval they decide and can take as much money from you to deliver it as they desire. You think you are without now, wait until the same people who regulate FEMA, IRS, and HUD take over.

  • My 'ignorance' is based upon a lifetime of living on the bottom rung of society. I've worked as a nurses aid, janitor, and garbage collector. Take your three tiered idea and run for congress. If you put forth anything I can agree with, I'll vote for you.

  • Wilbur: In a truly free-market the only wealth input a corporation would have is from its investors and predominately from its consumers (daily dollar vote). In our system corporations can bypass the will-of-the-people through Gov't subsidization, which Kucinich has voted many times in favor of (Agri-Farmers and Prison Conglomerates). Ron Paul is 100% opposed to Subsidization, the IRS, and the CFR controlled Fed Reserve!

  • I had only a high school education, and I was tired of being without. So I went to college at an advanced age, while I worked full time and got a degree. Now I have things, and make good money. You can complain or do something. Your choice.

  • It's like this. The more the rich and powerful corporations get, the more diminished I become. I don't agree with handing out money to people with gold chains on and a Cadillac parked outside the welfare office, but there should be a socialistic net, in my opinion, if people are truly in need of food, shelter, and medical care. The 'free market' always seems to benifit the people at the top. That's why people are working for $7.00 an hour at Walmart. So that fat cats can get fatter.

  • Nothing bothers me more than to hear this type of ignorance. You can look at people working for $7 as people being held back, or people given an opportunity to work. Someone has to work for $7, but the people who do can either do that until they educate themselves or make something better, or stay at $7.

  • Wilbur: People work at Wal-mart because our Socialistic (Big Gov't) educational system and 12 years of education produces people without skill. I trained my daughter in home-school for 2 years (5 - 7) and she had a 12th grade reading level, then again from 10-12 and she entered college at 13. I've helped other parents do the same thing (not a "gifted" issue)!!

  • Wilbur: You've never seen the "free-market" model in practice. It cannot exist if there is Democracy where the many rule over the few. Our country was founded as a Constitutional Republic based on freedom and liberty. I meditate on these principles (I follow Yogananda's teachings - Gandhi's Guru). Christ taught these principles and "socialists, communists, and dictators" have killed to control these teachings.

  • I would rather see anyone, including the government, take health care away from insurance companies. They circle like vultures and bite the dying.

  • Wilbur: Free-Market Garage Sale - What if the government said people selling items at a garage sale, must have a $100 permit - would this increase or decrease the costs, can you see the formation of a black-market. This is modern day healthcare with HMO's, Regulation, Subsidization, and Political Lobbying, there's the hidden cost. Add to it the rape in value of our dollar by the illegal printing of US dollars by the Fed Reserve and no wonder why people cannot afford health care. Ron Paul 2008

  • Because, in a truly free-market the only wealth input a corporation would have is from its investors and predominately from its consumers (daily dollar vote). In our system corporations can bypass the will-of-the-people through Gov't subsidization, which Kucinich has voted many times in favor of (Agri-Farmers and Prison Conglomerates). Ron Paul is 100% opposed to Subsidization, the IRS, and the CFR controlled Fed Reserve!!!!

  • Wilbur: Colleges and universities (being tenure based, government controlled, and steeped in budgetary policy analysis -- just like Congress) started teaching anti-privatization after Lyndon Johnson created the "Great Society" and thus the 2nd great welfare and entitlement program movement that pushed men (by incentive) out of the homes and destroyed the inner cities. This is why you have a one-sided view of privatization and rightly so. Because, you've only seen corrupt examples in the media.

  • I'm not a giant intellect or even well educated but some things are obvious. Currently insurance companies take your money and try not to give you services. The government will always be taking your money. I'd like them to spend it on something I want, healthcare for everyone based on need for care only. Healthcare, like education, should be paid for by all and given to those who need when they need it.

  • What seems to be "Obvious" on the surface requires some study before you jump head first off a cliff, only to realize in mid-air that you have made a huge mistake. You do not have to be a giant intellect. Think a little. Has the Government ever taken something over and made it better? Have they ever been fiscally responsible? Do you trust them to get anything done properly? (Cont)

  • (Continuation) If you can not answer any of those questions with a positive, then why would you even think about making them responsible for administering to your health? It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that the Government and health do nt mix. Ever hear of the Walter Reed Medical Center?

  • It's time for national health care in my opinion. Most civilized countries have it. Please view searchword wilburjr-thanks.

  • The largest expenditure in the U.S is Health and Welfare Services -- We spend more on this than anyother nation on per capita basis - short of China. So, why is it not working. Because of Budgetary and Tenure Tract Management -- Government is not accountable and by nature inefficient.

  • So, tell me exactly what you think is the answer to the problem of healthcare. Do you think we should just abolish the insurance companies and pay for services directly? If so, how would that work exactly?

  • Windy: Take a boa constricter - wraps around you, squeezes more and more every time you exhale so that the next breath is harder - 'till you die. That is Government over health-care. further.....

  • ....continue Boa-Gov't-Constriction-Healthcare - The Gov't regulates Healthcare Insurance - the specifics of this regulation increase costs or Insurance company, they pass these costs back to you. To offset these costs Pharm-Corps, HMO's go to politicians/lobbyists - Politician creates bill (increase tax) to subsidize insurance industry losses...

  • ...continue Boa #3 (smile) - so 1st you pay as consumer of drugs/insurance owing to regulation, then 2nd you pay again from the increased taxation to cover losses of regulation as Gov't Subsidy. Why they call it a double or tripple pay system, haha....

  • ...continue Boa #4 (smile)...Now the regulation is un-constitutional, the corporate lobbyist is un-ethical, and the role the politician is playing is criminal...But this is not the end no no no, this is only 40 or 50% of your healthcare costs. The next covers all consumer cost issues...

  • ...lastly the Fed Reserve prints money ( money that is not backed by a real hard asset, like gold). With all the taxes we are not covering the costs of Regulation, so they print money and issue american bonds - China holds most our debt. Our dollar is probably fallen 100% in-value since we removed gold as the hard asset. Your dollar has fallen 30% against gold since 2001, what does this mean....

  • lastly lastly -- 50K salary a 30% drop would be $15K - meaning your 50K salary purchases only 35K in goods - specifically foreign goods, which is where we shipped all our jobs off to. Conclusion: Costs of Healthcare #1 Regulaiton #2 Lobbyist/Politicians/Subsidization/Taxation (meaning you have less money) and #3 The value of your dollar is falling because of the illegal Fed Reserve Corporation Counterfeiting your dollar and removed gold as the hard asset.

  • Welfare-Warfare State: Welfare & Healthcare biggest expenditure, now if they told you they wanted $1Trillion to go into Healthcare you would have told them off - because that would criple us. So they start a war, and burn 1Trillion per year -- Healtcare costs rise because of dollar devaluation, and now Kucinich and his ilk say "universal healthcare" take the war money and put it toward healthcare 1Trillion per year and you say yes - better that than this ;)

  • Okay, like most everyone who posts here, you have identified many problems, what is the fix?

  • Windy: We must put someone in office who has a pure constitutional voting record (Ron Paul is the only one) - He will work to remove Fed Reserve and IRS, how much he could get done in four years is one thing, but it would be very educational for the people. 2) Bring Troops Home. 3) Provide basic healthcare/welfare at the State and Local Levels not from the FED.

  • I hope Ron Paul is the savior you suggest. The problem here is everyone talks in abstracts and no one proposes tangible fixes. I gave you a three tiered idea. Let's implement these first fixes and re-evaluate. No one wants to do that. At least show us a plan.

  • Ron Paul is not our "savior" - but he is the only one with a "plan" to free people so they can implement their own "plans" (success and failure) without as much government intervention. You want things to be written out and "liberty" is not spelled out - within a liberty based society chaos must be studied not controlled. Nature abhors a vacuum and seeks to fill it, so should a "free-market." A society that tries to "flow" rather than regulate will get you what you want.

  • I went and checked out the Frasier Institute in Canada (Do a google search), which is an Independent research and educational organization. If you go to their "health" section, they discuss how effective UHC is in Canada. You might want to look this over before asking for UHC in the USA.

  • The Fraser Institute (note spelling) is a right-wing think tank. They're supported by big corporations. Insurance companies are big corporations and they want to be in Canada. When you Google, look beyond the official site. progressive-economics dot ca/category/fraser-institute is a good place to start.

  • So Liberal think tanks are...oh yeah...liberals don't think. Sorry my bad.

  • The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives would fit the bill of a liberal think tank.

As for your rude attempt at humour, I don't quite understand your animosity considering that all I did was offer information, not condemn you personally. I sort of like friendly debates, so when ugly diatribes are hurled without provocation, I tend to wonder why. :/

  • First of all, it was not rude at all. If you are going to play here, you had better have a thicker skin. People always say things like, "Oh that is a conservative think tank so what they say is not valid, but then tell us all what Michael Moore says as if it came from the mouth of God.

  • Maybe I shouldn't have added "right wing" to my statement, because you're right, a statement like that can appear stereotyping. The Fraser Institute, however, does indeed recieve a great deal of funding from major corporations (many, many who are US-based). I'm pretty sure that's a matter of public record.

As for being thin-skinned, I'm really not offended at all; I was really just wondering why the lashing-out, since it doesn't further the discussion any.

  • It wasn;t lashing out. If I told you to go f*ck yourself, that would be lashing out. But I did not do that.

It seems that anything funded by anything business related is considered "Right Wing" and smowhow has no credibility with liberals. If it were funded by a poor guy, it would be golden, but when do poor people fund things?

  • "It seems that anything funded by anything business related is considered "Right Wing" and smowhow has no credibility with liberals."

I don't feel that way (although I do admit to taking anything corporate funded with a huge grain of salt).

"If it were funded by a poor guy, it would be golden, but when do poor people fund things?"

Unfortunately, not often enough. I think a appropriate question might be 'when CAN poor people fund things?'

  • So what information do you feel is credible? Who do you believe and why?

Point is, UHC is supposed to save us, make everything better, but for those of us who have been to the VA for treatment, we know how bad it can be. Ever hear of Walter Reed Medical Center? So we know how the Government medical works.

  • We all know there is no free anything. We are going to have to pay, and knowing the Government, we know that whatever we pay will be wasted with ineffienceny and bureaucracy. People want to turn a broken system over to the worst fiscal mangers in history. God help us.

  • The only information I can completely believe is from my own experiences and the experiences of people who relate theirs to me, i.e. I know Michael Moore exaggerates, but everything he says about hospitals and insurance I know to be true because I work in health care and see it every day. I don't trust pharmaceutical companies or big corporations because I'm a daily witness to their corruption. As for WRMC, yes, it's disgraceful. The whole US sytem needs repair.

  • So fix it. Do not scrap the whole thing and start over. Take what is good and keep it. Take what is bad and fix it. You do not shoot someone who has the flu, you nurse them back to health. Let's do the same with our health system.

  • Start with loser pays tort reform. Proficiency test Doctors. Add regulation that limits the ability to overcharge for specific things. You can even come up with some form of full Government assistance for those who are totally disabled. If we have any obligation to help anyone, we have to help those who can not help themselves, but not those who will not help themselves.

  • I agree with keeping the good and fixing the bad. I believe the first thing to fix is to get the corporate agenda out of it. And I believe what Kucinich is saying could work. It'd take *plenty* of time, longer than any candidate will probably admit to because the system is just that damaged.

  • Prim: Univ Heal Care - Socialism always needs a prosperous nation to pin it's economy too or new lands to conquor. This is the Welfare-Warfare state -- Our largest two expenditures right now are Welfare and Warfare. France and England - long standing Social Democracies, long standing tradition of Welfare-Warfare. Google: Constitutional Republic vs Democracy.

  • Windy: You are a crack up, but your words ring true. We need to build a dialogue with Liberals instead of bashing. There are three non-CFR candidates - Paul, Kucinich, and Gravel. People take it personal when their choices, which carry their egos, are bruised. We need language to avoid this. I use the word Corporationist (Corporatist) to imply companies that get Gov't Subsidization and G-Corp (Good Corpration) that bows to the will of the consumer through daily dollar voting.

  • They really do not want dialog. You are trying to apply common sense to those who do not have it. They want to dictate and we are meant to shut up and listen. We are not supposed to show why UHC is bad and will hurt the country. We are supposed to get in line and bend over.

  • Windy: I've been on the horse, so to speak, for a long long time -- I've found techniques that work pretty good, but there are catch words that they respond negatively and positively too. The Free-Maket model gives everyone what they want, it's just we've never seen it in practice. Hong Kong has "universal healthcare" because it is a free-market society. When there is competition and government is ot of the way corporations must listen to consumer, right?

  • Also, in free-market employers compete for labor - giving power to the individual to choose, right? So, as an incentive the corporation pays for almost all health care needsthe greater the liberty the greater the competition for good labor. Liberals can understand this if you keep it simple.

  • Where can the "Free Market Model" be seen in detail?

  • mises(dot)org/journals/fm/jan06(dot)pdf

Delete the two (dot) above, replace with "."

Free-Market is basically the right of two people or agents of the people to exchange goods or services of their own free-will and mutual benefit without intervention. No intervention there or in the inputs.

  • Well, that said a whole lot of nothing. Where is the free market model for healthcare spelled out? Of is there one?

  • Windy: You are all sass, hahaha. You asked for Free Market Theory - you didn't say Free-Market or Constitutional Republic answers specifically -- This country is founded on those principles not on a Democracy which is rule of the many over the few. I'll explain

  • I asked an honest question. You made it sound as if there was some model of healthcare based on free market principles. I was asking about it so I could learn.

  • Dennis Kucinich is truly thebest among them all,but he has a major obstacle! AIPAC (the israeli spying corrupting agency) opposes him4his lack of submission2its treasonous dictates. That's why it willB almost impossible4him2win the democratic nomination, let alone the presidency! He would have a greater chance of winning if he breaks free as an independent &speak against AIPAC to alert the sleeping voters! I do respect him, regardless, 4his genuine positions2 make America&the world a better place!

  • Kucinich rocks

  • We are pretty much the only industrialized nation without Universal Health Care. We also spend THE MOST on health care, and yet we are pretty much just an inch or two above third world countries. This is inexcusable. The money we are spending on wars could be used for universal health care and college too! Americans would also be more profitable since they won't have to scrap for savings to get their basic needs!

  • The man with a plan. I'll be votin' for him.

  • Amen, Dennis! Not peace in the abstract, but peace in action. Strength thru peace - what a novel concept! Kucinich talks the talk and walks the walk. Substance-substance-substance. Vote Kucinich!

  • Theres no such thing as a free lunch.

  • Strange how Congress can cough up $billions$ for HOLY CRUSADES (Iraq, Afganistan, future holy wars-praise Jesus) but when a Medicare-for-all is presented on the table...it's where will we get the money? Yes, corporate money pays for a lot of things to get done. It also pays for a lot of things to not get done.

  • Man, gotta say two things...

    1) This is the funniest I've ever seen Kuninich!!!

    2) Whats the deal with the other canidates trying to hijack the phrase Universal Health Care when Kucinich is the only candidate that is calling for Universal Health Care for every individual... Its possible, and the amount of money the government already spends on healthcare would be enough to implement this program!!!
