you know, everyone is saying "the song has more depth than suicide" and all, but i think that rin's meltdown was about how she realized she had fucked up and she wanted to fix it, and decided that it'd just be best for her to completely 'erase' herself from the world; then miku's is about how miku, being rin's close friend and all, looks into her suicide to find out why she did it. and the reason why the lyrics are exactly the same is because miku is looking at everything that happened to rin.:)

The artist drew it the way that they wanted to and thats that. Stop overreacting, its not that big of a deal if her hair color is different or if her hair length is shorter. For the original, Rin takes that. But for this one, where it's more wispy and techno, Miku's softness has a much better affect then Rin. Kagamine may have a stronger voice, but she can't do ALOT of things Miku's voice can. Hatsune's softness is just something Rin cant have.

Both songs are good in their own way. and rin's song was not "suicidal" and she did not die -_-, it represented realization and revelation. Miku's version continued the whole point(miku went through realization too in this version when she saw"rin's fragment" [came to know of rin's memories]) . Like you said, this song is about realization and revelation. It can be understood when you actualy think about the song and its lyrics. It also helps if you have experienced realization yourself. When you abandon your old foolish self to become something what is rich minded. My realization has always been there slowly increasing its effect. And whit lyrics say about ''perfect world for me'' means that one thing that makes one happy is being revelated and therefore being rich in mind.

Basically I think this is the song that takes place after Rin "jumped into the nuclear reactor", or in other words committed suicide. I think Miku was sent to investigate her friend's death, but what she uncovers causes her to remember things from her childhood as Rin has. This grieves her, but instead of using suicide as escape (Rin), to get away from those memories, she fixes her problems and doesn't "jump into the reactor", or commit suicide.

This is just my opinion on what this song is about. Like other people have mentioned, I think it's about Miku searching for Rin after she jumps into the reactor. So when Miku finds fragments of Rin she imagines herself jumping in the reactor also. But then she snaps out of it. I think that Miku felt responsible for Rin's death because she was always watching over her. (like when it shows clips from the origional meltdown vid. Once Rin dies, Miku dissolves because Rin doesn't need her protection.

I love this version almost as much as the original "Meltdown". I love how dynamic the video for Miku's is. 3:51 is my avatar for almost everything. :) And why are people complaining about the art?
