I can see the Lamb of God comparisons, but it's a lot more sludgier and bluesier. More Pantera and Crowbar influences than LoG. I'm really happy with their direction. I liked Hunter, but I think Iron Gag is their best release yet.

Yes, puss bag, I would enjoy myself at a ALOL show. But that doesn't change the fact that they'll never win any prizes for originality. And, yes, there are a ton of bands that do have an original, unmistakable sound - from Queen and Led Zeppelin to Motorhead and Iron Maiden to Fear Factory and Meshuggah. The list is endless.

Queens of the Stone for one. Also, Killswitch Engage are fairly unique sounding and they've spawned many imitators already. Blotted Science with Charlie Z from BTArctopus on drums are very original and sound like no one else. They are also very listenable despite being extremely progressive.

I can see the Lamb of God comparisons, but it's a lot more sludgier and bluesier. More Pantera and Crowbar influences than LoG. I'm really happy with their direction. I liked Hunter, but I think Iron Gag is their best release yet.

i was very disappointed with Iron Gag. Hunter was a much heavier, aggressive, and better overall record in my honest opinion.

this sounds nothing like scars-era soil, what are you smoking? it's more like stoner rock and old white zombie by far. Hunter didn't sound like LoG at all either, I'm pretty sure you're just on crack. If I threw nasty southern licks under screaming vocals would I be ripping off Pantera, LoG, CoC, etc.? just shut up.

Funny how these guys went from ripping off Meshuggah on 'A Great Artist', to ripping off Lamb of God on 'Hunter', and now they sound like a heavier, more pissed off version of 'Scars' era Soil w/ some Down/COC harmonies thrown in. What's next?

Yes, puss bag, I would enjoy myself at a ALOL show. But that doesn't change the fact that they'll never win any prizes for originality. And, yes, there are a ton of bands that do have an original, unmistakable sound - from Queen and Led Zeppelin to Motorhead and Iron Maiden to Fear Factory and Meshuggah. The list is endless.

Queens of the Stone for one. Also, Killswitch Engage are fairly unique sounding and they've spawned many imitators already. Blotted Science with Charlie Z from BTArctopus on drums are very original and sound like no one else. They are also very listenable despite being extremely progressive.

I agree on the Qotsa, but kse? I don't really know who begun the whole metalcore thing (at the gates?) but KSE aren't really original, they just differ from the mass of shitty bands.

Well, KSE have their influences but they've managed to turn them into something resembling a style of their own. Even you can see that they 'differ from the mass of shitty bands.' And if they 'differ' they can't be like everyone else, right? I don't mean to bag on ALOL because I like them but all they keep doing is rip heavily on the different band on each successive record. KSE had their style dialed in on the 2nd album and have since refined it. That's the difference.

Killswitch sounds like a sermon with a distorted guitar. they need to lose the preacher. Atreyu has more talent, as a band, than A7X. A7X has a good guitarist, nothing more.

Just saw them at the Blank Club in San Jose and they were freaking amazing. I am a first time ALOL viewer and loved the show. They're hitting the Bluelamp in Sacramento on the 22nd of Feb. I am taking my pals to that one for sure.
