When this was a "new" episode, I kept on thinking how BadAss a showdown between Michael (played by Dean Winchester) and Lucifer (Played by Sam Winchester) would be. But then I got thinking that it would be more badass to have Dean as a normal human take down the Devil w/out any powers. Go to the tvtropes.org and look up the "Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?" trope and you'll see why I dig the idea of normal humans overcoming omnipotent/unbeatable things via willpower.

One of my favorite episodes because this proves without a doubt that Lucifer would've OWN Michael in "The Final Battle" if Dean and Castiel hadn't interfered!Of course maybe I'm wrong and there was no fight because Dean refused to say "Yes" in this "reality".

What if Sam said no to Lucifer and Dean said yes to Micheal, then Micheal in Dean's form would fight Lucifer in that other guy's form (the one I mostly love because he's ... such a boss! Especially when he's on killing spree.). Wouldn't that make Sam survive this Apocalypse ? I mean, Lucifer would be gone, Micheal is the winner and everything has become fine again. Plus, Dean gets to left behind with his brother unharmed. It's what Micheal said to Dean before zapping him back to his time.

@aliddas If Michael and Lucifer fought they would "roast half the planet" so there is a good chance Sam wouldn't survive anyway. The Angels wanted to keep things the way they were supposed to be (them fighting with their true vessels) so Michael might have just killed Sam afterwards.

He claims that humans were flawed and did not deserve to have "greater beings" bow before them........yet Lucifer's refusal to bow before humanity and betrayal of his father(whom angels were created solely to serve) showed a flaw in the angelic nature as well! Yeah usually when Dean cries like that, I'm stunned by his performance and feeling it with him. But I gotta say, this particular scene here..I always forget that Dean's heartbroken cuz I'm AMAZED by Jared! I always knew Jared could act, and I love the brotherly moments between Sam and Dean, but Jared as Lucifer will always be my favorite. ;)

@discovery2808 This isn't in any way saying that God was on vacation. God gave them the choice of free will and gave them the way to do whatever they need. God also puts people through tests to test their faith. How do we not know God was doing this to test the faith of Sam and Dean. A true believer would put their faith in God that everything would go okay. The angels even lost faith in God and look what happened. They start a civil war.

I haven't seen this scene for at least 3 months, came to watch it again & still found myself crying with Dean! It happens every time I see him cry or about to cry. This is still one of my favourite emotional scenes by the both of them, but my real favourite is the end scene from Heaven And Hell when Dean tells Sam about torturing souls in hell. I cry so much with that scene!!

This is the way I see the fall of Lucifer. Michael and Lucifer where Gods favorite children until God brought new babys home Eve and Adam. Lucifer got jealous and wanted to kill the new babys so God told Michael to send Lucifer to hell. Or something like that.

Or was it the fact that Lucifer had taken on Sam's form? Or was it that he and Sam would eventually die?

It's one thing to know all of this could happen and to understand there's probably no hope, it's another entirely to have it rubed in your face. On top of that, everything that could of gone rong, did. On top of the greater implications the situation alone would have him scared, angry and stressed. Just my thoughts though. Hope they've helped. They also could of simply been tears of rage.

I love this show, because this is probably what Lucifer would actually be like. He would choose a very pretty form and try to lure people in with his sad little story. He sounds so reasonable, but he's probably going to kill you. And I like when he plays with the rose and the way he says the world is "stunning".

And when he says "you don't have to be afraid of me. What do think I'm going to do?" and it's like... Well, you did just kill future me.

@DRiungi You need to read in between the lines sometimes. It has a good message but you just aren't saying it. Everyone is telling them that God abandoned his children and he is gone. You need faith to believe that God is there. God also gives free will which means freedom of choices. They are the ones that have to decide whether to make a bad one or a good one. Then God is always testing his childrens' faith in him. He tested Abraham's and Moses's as well.

There are like zerochaos76 said, many versions of how it happened and they went with one. I noticed that they research something very throughly on this show before they put it on the script. Everything they have shown about the monsters have been accurate and Castiel is the an actual angel of Thursday.

Supernatural's ending must be set in 2014, while Smallville's ending must be in 2013, not 2011, a year after Supernatural's real end.

And after this finish must be done a film with a continuing story, just like in Smallville, I mean Lex triggers his nuclear apocalypse after Superman's ascension.

In Supernatural's last apocalypse Sam is vessel for Lucifer and kills Dean.

And notice that is a resemblance between Sam and Lex.(white outfit)

@tressoccerchick In this episode it was just showing what was going to happen in the future, i think. Sam is Lucifer's vessel, so it's not Sam that's evil, it's the Devil. Sam is an awesomly brotherly amazing guy but he has demon blood in him since he was a baby, which gives him some sort of psychic power, and that kindof drove him mad. And Dean is Michael's vessel. Michael is an angel that has to kill Lucifer, so Sam and Dean are supposed to fight each other in the end BUT Sam saves the day! :D

Kripke tends to focus more on Dean Winchester than Sam...it's why we have seen Jensen play Dean twice in 3 episodes. Kripke had high emmy remarks to Jensen 4 this dual double mint role in the END , but very little to say about JP's top star performance. EK has a man crutch on Dean/Jensen.
