Alright. Not trying to spam here, but all of you must have noticed something by now, right?
You must have noticed that this extremely controversial change in direction by Capcom is stirring up a SHITSTORM of discussion and disagreements. This is the best damned (nearly free) PR campaign they have ever done for... damned near anything in recent history! Even if it costs them half their original fans, at least it would have brought DMC to the forefront of everybody's minds.
If you notice in the video Dante was in a pcyhe ward and he was also holding a jail record sign and it switched out from when he had white hair so something tells me that they brainwashed him using some kind of Demon voodoo so he thinks he's someone else in the begining and later finds out his past that's just my opinion.

If this "Dante" was actually someone else (someone that is equally mysterious and interesting, hopefully), but was captured for whatever nefarious reasons, and was gradually fed misinformation into making him think that he's the real Dante, like how Dante was made to look like a murderer in the beginning of DMC4.

No u got it all wrong its still the ORIGINAL dante just young n different looking, what they mean by it dosnt have connections 2 the other dmc's mean like u c in dmc 1-4 theres a character or story element u can relate 2 from a previous dmc game...like dmc 3 explains the story of virgil first seen in dmc 1, then 4 shows a connection 2 virgil from dmc 1 & 4 n connects it with 2 with how characters became this n how they got that, thats the connections with storylines...thats why this isnt like a

There was an interview capcom said that DmC has no connection in story with previous dmc's games they also mentioned that they still didn't forget the original Dante. Maybe capcom want to try with the change thing but if it will go wrong with the sales they still are prepared for that cause they are releasing DMC HD Collection wich they know people will sure buy it.

It's a prequel, it's a reboot, it's a re-imagining, now an alternate parallel timeline. Remember when fans complained about the look and they said this Dante will develop into the Dante we know by the end of the game which is inconsistent with their views that old Dante is no longer relevant.

@gerietis789 Have you been following this game since the beginning? They did not label it so as first. It was intended to be a part of the official canon. Why would they want to focus on more story if it has nothing to do with the original? Why would Tameem say Dante becomes the Dante we know by the end of the game if this is separate from canon not to mention inconsistent with their views that old Dante isn't relevant anymore?
At around 1:59 to 2:00, you can see an image of a white haired Dante lookalike flashing in and out. Should give you all a hint as to where this story might go. ;)
Anyway, maybe I wasn't as attached to the original DMCs as you guys seem to be, so I'm not really all that butthurt about this new change. I would miss the old universe dearly, but this new one is shaping up really well. Hell, I could just watch trailers all day, the world looks so gorgeous.

@ScientificNoodles I agree... if people wee really honest about the original series it wasn't THAT great. They totally skimmed by what were potentially awesome story lines making it style over substance - DMC3 anyone? Frankly I'm looking forward to the new series and I hope they really do explore Dante's story.

@onyxtheforsaken I had to reply to this. While it's true that I'm not fanatical about the old universe, I still rank the old DMC's (DMC3 in particular) as 1 of my favorite series of all time. I could honestly say I loved all major aspects of DMC3: the sibling rivalry, the juxtaposition of Dante and Virgil, Lady, JESTER IS ARKHAM!?!?, the fights, the environment, the weapons, the whole story line. Everything.
Or maybe it could have been better and I just have bad taste?
I hope they improve the music in some way... Ok they are going to put it in the markets any way, and we are going to buy it just to try understand what the heck happened with Dante and so...

@superbrainification I've only played 1 and 4(though I hardly remember 1), so disregard my previous comments. I'm not much of a DMC devotee, but in the gaming industry if you have same exact characters, similar plot and similar story it will mean much less profit, and if Capcom went to NInja City for this, it shows they're pretty much out for profit alone. The game still looks good though, and the benefit is mutual.
@superbrainification Capcom/Ninja get profit for future games, and we get a new DMC(though very different.) If you're so devoted to the story/characters being the same, read the manga/watch the anime.

@superbrainification Sadly, things happen like this all the time. Wrongly so, sometimes. Change is sometimes for the better, but unneeded and uneventful change is never for the better. Dante's changes were both. If this is in fact a prequel(Not sure, since Capcom/NT are confusing everyone with the reboot/preq shit)then NT has already made mistakes with origins and various things. Not a good sign. What caused my change of heart you may ask- Tameem. He's a shit cunt.
@superbrainification NT claims(or implies by its actions) that it relies more on story than gameplay, though they are contradicting themselves by disregarding all of the former DMC lore and story and just making it completely different with no (good) similarities between the story(from what I can tell.) If they truly cared for the story they would at least keep it to the same universe and keep the origins in regard when making this. About the UE engine... god no.
@superbrainification Err, Just UE, but I guess I understand what you meant by slow now. The DMC games require 60 FPS pretty much, and 30 FPS(assuming NT doesn't give up various things to up it to 60; that is)will force it to be slower. I don't see this turning out very well, especially with Tameem ANYWHERE near it.
@superbrainification The "assumption" that this will make profit is based on the amount of popularity the previous games had, the amount of discussion going on about it currently(good or bad) and the people behind it(Capcom's name alone could pull a profit). Yes, clearly profit is only company side, and I didn't imply gamer's may be disappointed, but not you nor I can make any knowledgeable guesses on a thing like that as of now.

I've been fighting for both sides on multiple videos, though I've actually decided not to encourage NT being allowed to wreak havoc on this reboot they are being allowed to make with Capcoms "supervision". Reboots are meant to change, but within means. NT doesn't entirely have the right to change the essence of this game and the characters within.

Not legit enough! Sorry to be fanboy, guys. But PLEASE for the love of the Original Classic Dante and DMC3. If you buy into this game, Capcom will let Ninja Theory keep this as a successful reboot and keep rehashing this crap. If this game gets poor record sells then we won't have to worry about Ninja Theory messing up our favorite Devil Hunter. Honestly, I'm a huge fan of the classics, and the first stuff they showed for this game was SOO off base. But this new direction they managed to steer towards, it's actually pretty good, let's be honest. They heard us, and they changed a lot of the problems, without ending up right back at the floundering classic.

I have to say that I had uber mixed feelings about this game for the longest time, and while it still urks me that Dante has black hair (even though when he Triggers it turns white) and that sword he carries look nothing like Rebellion--the game play looks pretty badass and the graphic are sweet as well. So I'll probably buy it just to try and prove myself wrong, still doesn't 'feel' like a true Devil May Cry game though :\

Now I like the (They Live / Little Nickey \ Bayonetta / look about it. But DmC2 is the best to me. The controls and the environment was better then all the DmC's that came out; before and after. That's why i think Dante is ready for the open world. Which is better? the limbo city that NT is creating or the limbo city that Sucker Punch or Radical or even Shaba Game could make.
When I seen the 1st preview, I thought finally Dante meets Cole. Finally Dante is in a open world setting (Think about Dante walking the streets of Empire City? Im a huge fan of the series also, and i gotta say that the gameplay looks very solid, and i like the setting. But for the life of me I just cant get over how Dante looks. This new dante just isnt really dante in my eyes
ive been a huge fan of dmc since the beginning. like HUGE fan, and i have to say this trailer is not too bad. i actually like it a lot. looks like capcom made some right changes to dante from the previous trailer. ps. dont ever call him an emo fag!!
one thing I like about the new DmC is that the really huge step up on the graphics. using unreal engine was kinda risky in terms of texture pop ins but it looks really fantastic. I don't see him as the Dante as we used to know but a new Dante. I hated him before but I'm starting to like where this is going. It'd be real disappointing if they tampered with the current story of the original DmC.
looking nice can't wait to try it out. They said they'll be releasing a demo pretty soon. I'm really hoping ninja theory will get more respect on this one. well he already has more character then the Dante in devil may cry 2, so far that's a plus for me :P. keep it up ninja theory. What i dont understand is whats so bad about the new dante i mean either way, Yeah the old one was 10x better but we shouldn't lose hope and give this a chance, The game looks more modern in terms of our time era and realism. And the games aesthetics looks stunning! Its interesting how you actually see changes occur when he fights demons as if he was in some sort of different layer in life. Now if this is Dante, I imagine Virgil. I want to see how this one is going to turn out to be.

Why would they want to focus on more story if it has nothing to do with the original? Why would Tameem say Dante becomes the Dante we know by the end of the game if this is separate from canon not to mention inconsistent with their views that old Dante isn't relevant anymore?

At around 1:59 to 2:00, you can see an image of a white haired Dante lookalike flashing in and out. Should give you all a hint as to where this story might go. ;)
Anyway, maybe I wasn't as attached to the original DMCs as you guys seem to be, so I'm not really all that butthurt about this new change. I would miss the old universe dearly, but this new one is shaping up really well. Hell, I could just watch trailers all day, the world looks so gorgeous.

@onyxtheforsaken I had to reply to this. While it's true that I'm not fanatical about the old universe, I still rank the old DMC's (DMC3 in particular) as 1 of my favorite series of all time. I could honestly say I loved all major aspects of DMC3: the sibling rivalry, the juxtaposition of Dante and Virgil, Lady, JESTER IS ARKHAM!?!?, the fights, the environment, the weapons, the whole story line. Everything.
Or maybe it could have been better and I just have bad taste?

I'm not much of a DMC devotee, but in the gaming industry if you have same exact characters, similar plot and similar story it will mean much less profit, and if Capcom went to NInja City for this, it shows they're pretty much out for profit alone. The game still looks good though, and the benefit is mutual.

Dante's changes were both. If this is in fact a prequel(Not sure, since Capcom/NT are confusing everyone with the reboot/preq shit)then NT has already made mistakes with origins and various things. @superbrainification NT claims(or implies by its actions) that it relies more on story than gameplay, though they are contradicting themselves by disregarding all of the former DMC lore and story and just making it completely different with no (good) similarities between the story(from what I can tell.) If they truly cared for the story they would at least keep it to the same universe and keep the origins in regard when making this. About the UE engine... god no.

The DMC games require 60 FPS pretty much, and 30 FPS(assuming NT doesn't give up various things to up it to 60; that is)will force it to be slower. I don't see this turning out very well, especially with Tameem ANYWHERE near it.

I've been fighting for both sides on multiple videos, though I've actually decided not to encourage NT being allowed to wreak havoc on this reboot they are being allowed to make with Capcoms "supervision". If you buy into this game, Capcom will let Ninja Theory keep this as a successful reboot and keep rehashing this crap. Honestly, I'm a huge fan of the classics, and the first stuff they showed for this game was SOO off base. But this new direction they managed to steer towards, it's actually pretty good, let's be honest. They heard us, and they changed a lot of the problems, without ending up right back at the floundering classic.

I have to say that I had uber mixed feelings about this game for the longest time, and while it still urks me that Dante has black hair (even though when he Triggers it turns white) and that sword he carries look nothing like Rebellion--the game play looks pretty badass and the graphic are sweet as well. So I'll probably buy it just to try and prove myself wrong, still doesn't 'feel' like a true Devil May Cry game though :\

one thing I like about the new DmC is that the really huge step up on the graphics. using unreal engine was kinda risky in terms of texture pop ins but it looks really fantastic. I don't see him as the Dante as we used to know but a new Dante. I hated him before but I'm starting to like where this is going. It'd be real disappointing if they tampered with the current story of the original DmC.

What i dont understand is whats so bad about the new dante i mean either way, Yeah the old one was 10x better but we shouldn't lose hope and give this a chance, The game looks more modern in terms of our time era and realism. And the games aesthetics looks stunning! Its interesting how you actually see changes occur when he fights demons as if he was in some sort of different layer in life. Now if this is Dante, I imagine Virgil. I want to see how this one is going to turn out to be.
