Not only was it expensive to maintain but the old section in the woods had very few spots to watch for spectators. We must remember, it's usually about the Fans when it comes to F1 now a days. Plus the safety hazard, I know I would be pissed slamming into a tree at well over 200 MPH.

I'm not so sure it was Bernie this time. I can remember the track owner getting into financial trouble, i mean maintaining such a long track is costly. I agree that the old one was better, but if they hadn't changed it, we would not have a hockenheim at all today.

Herman Tilke makes bad tracks like Bahrain, new Hring and turkey. That are all big tracks with 2 much grandstands and a lot of run out zone! The public and drivers want to have a bit of adrenaline. The cars are now so save that if one crashes it isn't that bad as 15 years ago

This track was beautiful, the speed was amazing. Used to love watching the German GP. Now its just like all the other tracks. I miss the 90s.

people miss the old Hockenheim because it was different. Drivers had to spend the first practice session getting used to the top end speeds and braking. The redesigned circuit is just another Hermann Tilke standard layout. If it weren't for the tradition of Monza, that circuit would no doubt suffer the same fate.

@covGuk It was better because it was the fastest!! It was a unique and special circuit. The new version doesn't have any special corners, so how is it better?

Sadly F1 is getting more and more bland and uninteresting with every season. I hope that trend stops.

@maidenslayer official version was for more grandstands, not safety, so dont blame. original plan was to make a shortcut between the first and the third chicane ...and there was problem with fuckin green peace, old track has to be removed, because of feeding new trees :(

The track is called the sinner and its by the band called Orbital.... it's on the b'side of the single they did called the Saint, I hope this helps !

Why on earth did they remove the straights- they were the best part, now the track is boring. miss those v10's and hakkinen v schumacher.they ruined the actual spectacle with the car rules and new tracks cannot compare
