  • Could Create a bit more realism by giving the bridges a chipped concrete look with air brushed graffiti hey! "Pods" weren't even around in the 70's cute.

  • @rayamanelly Per our note at the end of the video, we slightly 'modernized' the layout with updated rolling stock and the PODS unit to give a different effect for this video. Overall, the layout is still based in Washington in the mid-1970's.

  • VERY nice layout! Just got to get those cars weathered!

  • a profesional masterpiece! :)

  • how do you run to locos at the same time? im just getting started into this hobby and am unsure of how to do this. is one powered and the other is unpowered or are both powered?

  • 4:08 hahahahhahahahh :D

  • Very nice! im saving up for one.

  • What kind of sound decoders did you use in the units. They truly sound just like the prototype! I'm an NS engineer and I can't believe how realistic these units are!

  • This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen

  • PLEASE READ!!!!! I got an idea for this layout.Make like a UFO crash in the middle of town. and have ALOT of people pionting and going WHAT THE F**! Or have an airplane crash in a river or in town or something. Make it crash somewhere and if you make it crash in the river, have people swimming towards the crassh. Or even make a train crash like a bridge collapses and the train is hanging on by a thread (you will probaly need tape or glue for that) If this was helpful PLEASE respond me back!!!!!

    Alan

  • I love how the top two comments are the same

  • I like all the cute little forklifts :)

  • Mid 70's by the autos and lack of graffitti !

  • Awesome layout. Some parts look super real. But I still think that some more wheathering should be done, for example to those concrete bridge supports at 1:35

  • this is really cool i wish i could do that

  • Great layout! This is the best model RR I have seen in a very long time!

  • In some places the layout in complete and in other parts it's not. Is their anymore new parts you are going to add to the layout? You could do is to put a small camera on the front and go round with it showing just what's involved with your layout.

  • Love layouts that have great scenery and great signal work @ 8:12 Red over yellow, diverging approach XD Awesome!

  • Amazing!!!! Who makes the Dash 9's... or what did they start as?

  • how do you keep your rails so clean???

  • @TheAds656 TRACK CLEANING CARS

  • Oh my gosh, people are mooning the train, thats nasty.

  • You should have a drunk bum that every so often lays on the tracks and gets ran over complete with replica brain matter and blood display. That would be nice.

  • Who made the Dash-9's? They ran so smooth they almost looked like T-55's but that isn't possible. I'm guessing Kato? The details on them were fantastic!

  • @htc6600 Both DASH-9 models are Athearn's models with tuned stock drives and super detailed. Sound decoder is custom file Loksound. LED's for the lights.

  • Superb job on the layout, loved just about everything except one thing, The "Pods" box, I don't think it existed in the era!? but just my personal opinion, I think it should go.

  • @EddieLP2000

The layout is set in 1976; however, for this video we 'modernized' the scenes in order to show a scene from the past decade - hence the modern Dash 9's and rebuilt TopGon cars. Thus, the PODS are correct for the timeframe for this specific video. We'll have a new video soon based in 1976.

  • I love the details that were put into the NS Dash 9's - right down to the operating ditch lights.

  • Love those large radius turns, adds to the realism.

  • wow thats like super-super-elevated track

  • AWESOME Layout!!!! Your viewers might enjoy seeing the latest in DCC engines at Railroad Junction site on youtube. I will be posting the latest DCC engines that are released EACH MONTH. Subscribe and get the monthly updates. I've subscribed to BLMA as well, as your videos and products I buy ROCKS!

  • at 3:51 is that turn at a tilt a little? cause to me it does.

  • @TheHockeystar98 Makes it look realistic to me. :)

  • Is the large grain elevator commercial or scratch built?

  • @nwahsc I believe it's scratch built.

  • lol thats so cool theres an SBU on the back of the train with a flashing light rad!!

  • could you tell me where I can buy the 59&64 fords that are in your layout, Its good to know that im not the only model train nut.....Brian.

  • You might want to try mounting a mini- camera on the nose of the lead loco for a cab ride- type video. Excellent job! ***** PSH

  • where's the Conrail units?

  • Great looking engines on a great looking layout. Are the engines made by Kato and is there a trackplan of the layout published anywhere? Both should be a cover story in Model Railroader Magazine!

  • I am like wow nic layout great lookinglayout

  • speechless indeed, a perfect layout!

  • Very Nice

  • Does it take both locomotives to pull that or is the 2nd one a dummy loco??

  • Yes, it takes two locomotives due to the steep grades and length of the train.

  • @BLMAmodels i think that the second one is a dummy because the lights are off and normally the lights are on but in real life they do use 2-5 engines

  • @BLMAmodels How many cars is it pulling

  • @BLMAmodels im about to start my very first train layout in my basement can you give me any tips for a first timer as my self i either wanna do a ww2 type layout and for another tip i live in nyc and i was thinking of the nyc layout but 80 of the train system is tunnel and 30 is above ground

  • 6:20, horseshoe curve?

  • That looked SOO real in some spots, like coming out of the tunnels and traversing the open terran!

I have a Dash9 NS and I would like to detail it but im afraid to screw it up so im keeping it clean untill I know I am confident enough.

  • thats sweet looking and sounding

  • Hey Paul, when are those NS Dash 9 detail kits going to come out from details west?

  • i now the horn the locomotive makes whene its at the railroad crossing two short horns one long one and two short ones

  • what country is that in? cause it certainly ain't the US

  • Good old US of A!

  • I've NEVER seen that in any rule book (NORAC, GCOR, NSOR) as the horn pattern for a crossing at grade. The horn pattern for crossings actually originates from the morse code letter "Q", for Queen.

  • @NSguy07 Why do you say it's not inthe US?

  • @NSguy07 Why do you say it's not inthe US?

  • Why do you say it's not inthe US?

  • Exactly. Tim's layout is definitely Burlington Northern based...
