i use safari and my extremely new imac( 1 and half weeks ) only the finder and safari (one window)i maybe quicktime on-the computer was switched on for less the 30 mins and this noise like a hairdryer ok maybe not as loud but similair and it stopped when the imac standby-but when activated later it was still there -its quiet again-advice what exactly is the problem-what should i do-be nice people-i just wanted to get away from windows exp problems- love the mac-can it be rescued
Lol. It's obvious why it does that. I have the same problem. The fact is that you had heaps of apps open and probably not enough RAM to support that without it making a hell of a noise. Avoid using Firefox - it eats memory. Use a lighter weighter browser instead - like Safari.
Solution: Close some programs, buy more RAM or get a new computer - these things are 5 years old now - that's old in computer terms.

The G5 processor runs extremely hot, since ishowu is so processor intensive on the g5 it gets really hot and the fans crank up

@BradDHarden The system controls the fans, they will run high if the cpu is at a certain temp.
