Well it's really quite simple. When you make a inverse-basketball shot you go by add -2 to your score. in general we write the formula this way

If a basketball shot is 2+, that is to say within the 3point line, then we have

x=y+2 where y = current score and x = new score.

If the inverse of a basketball shot is -2, that is to say with-in the 3point line, then we have

x=y-2 where y = current score and x = new score.

This is a inverse back in the hoopy. In this case, there is no change.
