  • He articulates so clearly and makes everything he plays tell a musical story.

  • his free stroke scales are the absolute best in the world.

  • Bárbaro! Así, sí me gusta esta Fantasía!

Felicidades y gracias, al Mr. Rusell.

  • David, you are the best! I have your Renaissance CD and I love this piece, especially as played by you....I wish I could see the action of your right hand at the ending on this video, though...have always wondered how you do that flourish thing at the end! Lol

  • AMAZING. I am currently learning this song and I aspire to your playing of this. Bravo.

  • Minha maior referência

  • Great interpreter, keep always well, Yorgos

  • Magnificent! Absolutely fine! Totalmente encantadora la ejecucion.

  • Yes!

  • With awe and joy I listen to this piece again and again. But can anybody tell me why Mudarra plays D in the ascendant line in measure 57. And for that matter in all the later measures? Why not D#?

  • The name of the fantasia refers to Ludovico el del Arpe, harpist to Ferdinand the Catholic, and renowned for his ability to play chromatic notes on a diatonic harp. Mudarra himself states in the final section that "from here to the end there are some falsas, played well they do not sound bad" (Desde aqui fasta acerca del final ay algunas falsas, taniendose bien no parecen mal). Thus, Mudarra imitates the chromatic playing of Ludovico.

  • Tecnica impoluta, musicalidad, qué mas se puede pedir? genial David, como siempre.

  • Gracias maestro Russell! Can you make a home recording of a piece by Moreno Torroba some day?(I bought your disc and it´s my favourite classical guitar disc.) Anyway thanks for this one.

  • perfect!!

  • Great performance maestro!

  • 5 stars!!

  • The maestro has tuning his guitar like vihuela: the 3rd string in f# and a capo at the 2nd fret. This is the version from the original Alonso Mudarra's tablature

  • he`s a giant...

  • working on this right now...just came off practicing to check out russel's version...totally had that feeling u get when it feels like there are a hundred pinpricks on your frontal lobe. Brain strain..

  • Que tal David? Cuando podremos ver un DVD de larga duracion, para poder disfrutar de tu musica?. Se espera, para cuando?

    Sebadelsol!

  • You play very good. *****

  • David, you are amazing!!!

  • love your music, love your work! i will surely subscribe

    5 star*****

    best wish

    jesse

  • Beautifull indeed, but why are you using a capo? I thought that was really for the flamenco guitar.Just curious.

  • He uses the capo to match the original key of the work, which I think was written for vihuela.

  • beautiful version.

  • Açò són musics i no es de sa banda des Migjorn... van de sambas barates...

  • jo lorch... que bueno... que control. felicidades...

  • So, David, is this really you? From the playing it sounds like it... but I thought you'd not "appear" on youtube!

  • Tu tecnica y tu musicalidad son algo fantastico, Felicidades David, 5/5

  • in this piece the 3rd is tuned f#?

  • yes its tunned on f# on the third string

  • Yes, the 3rd string is tuned to f#.

  • Musical and so enjoyable. David concentrates on the music and not simply on impressing with technique - even though his skill is so formidable.

  • Tout simplement magnifique, que dire de plus...

  • Brilliant control and very soulful playing and your a great chap for the work you do.
