  • they are the sons of spanish gypsies that emigrated to france thats why they sing in spanish.

  • I wish the Gipsy kings would come to New Zealand. Talented and beautiful music, I don't understand Spanish but it doesn't matter the music rises above any language.

  • as a matter of fact they don't actually sing in spanish, but you're right, they're awesome!

  • dab song

  • It's incredible the impact 800 years of Moorish dominance has had upon Spain. This song represents only a mere reflection of that amazing culture left behind a long time ago.

  • they are not moorish people, i think you are confused and don't know a lot of moorish cultures, this singers are gypsys, they copy the moorish people songs, but they are not from Moorish culture, they moorish hate them cause the gypsys are consider pagans and had different traditions and cultures, as well as blood.

  • this is a mix of , Moorish, Spanish, Gipsy and south american. Not only Moorish. btw fuck islam if that's what your up too ;)

  • @motan1968 I think you have to read books about spanish history romanis dont have moorish roots they came from India,Gitano music is not the reflection of islamic culture at all.

  • india now romani,gitano gypsy mezcla spanhis,egypcio

  • it's very nice music Gipsy King.. this is an arabic song called (YA REEM WADY THAKEF) in GipsyKing version. coool

  • I dont think they are singing in Basque...I bet it is Romani.

  • I think they are sing a litle bit ARABIAN

  • the best of the rest.

just for info they are singing in basc - because they are from the basc country in spain.

they started with their father Jose Reyes - ans ever since they sing the same way as their father.

I love them. For me they will always be in my heart forever and ever.

    beautiful music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the best of rest answer all the comments herein.

Hey I love you all that is the fan of them.

  • wrong, they aren´t from basque country. They are from cataluña and they go out to france in the civil war in spain.

  • The best of the rest - they are singing in basc - the most beautiful language in Spain.

I will love them always - forever and ever.

  • wrong, they aren´t singning in basque.

  • real singer

  • its not arabic.. its kind of spanish languages i think

  • Tonino is the king!

  • It's a bit like arabic music...

The spanish language is related by the arabic language.

But I think this mix is very good.

  • Arabs of North of Africa conquered Spain in VII century and had been there until XIV century. The influency arab in spanish culture is very strong.

  • True. That's why Gypsies (word which comes from "Egyptian" are usually darker toned) some are even black-ish...u know which the "Moros". I think Spanish is so beautiful- the culture, the language, the country, the people- because of all its mixtures and rich history. Viento Del Arena is the most underestimated of all great songs. OLÉ

  • yes, the mix with gypsies and Moros get the Flamenco and Folk andaluz to Spain.

  • I'm about Ya Reem Wadi Tajeef

  • yah yeah yeah

  • que buen ritmo!!!

una de mis favoritas de los Gypsy Kings

  • I would really like to hear them live. Has anyone been to one of their concerts so they could tell me? Are they good?

  • like you wouldnt believe! There's so much energy flowing though the air when they play. The only thing is that theyve changed their repertoire over the years and alot of songs like this one arent played any more.

  • TRANSLATION:

"God,I sing your splendor, You who are the earth and the fire, the water and the wind. All your sons of the wind are your sons All the sons of the winds are brothers. This is why i sing my brothers of the desert, the sons of the sand of the desert".

  • esta canción ya va para los 30 años deberian componer otra con ese aire arabesco porque es GRANDE!!!!!!

  • God Bless the Gypsy Kings, Ole, Allah, Ole, Allah, Ole, Allah....Beautiful Music....The influence of Arab Music extends from the Atlantic to China

  • Vamos quillo p'allá....ta,tacatá,tacatá, tacá.

  • oleeeeeeee

  • it's sounds more arabic than spaniol ..

  • It's because is not European but from the Arab World and far East brought by the gipsies and Mours when they invaded Europe. The pure spanish race come from the North of Spain and same thing goes to Portugal.

  • true, that's why arabs, or those who have some arabic blood in them (like me) reallly feel this music. By the way, even the flamenco 'ole' is probably a derivative of the Arabic way of saying 'God' and exclaiming greatness: Allah

  • I'm not of arab descent but I must say I love this sort of music.

  • Hungarian here...we invaded Europe from central /western Asia 1,000 years ago. I feel this music too..:)

  • So . . . are they singing in Spanish? Because I can't understand a bloody word, and I've studied Spanish for a good five years. LITERALLY.

  • It's Arabic

  • It's arabic

  • This is an Arabic song from the sixties (Saudi Song by Talal Maddah) but played the Gipsy Kings way (THe Original song is called: Ya Reem Wadi Thageef)

Translation: The Deer of Thageef Valley

  • Thanks! I heard this song and I have it on my comp. You' re right. They changed it's rhythm a little, but the spirit was doubled by their guitars.

  • es una mezcla de guitarra española con musica marroqui muy buenaaa!!!!!

  • Notice that in those times, Spain didn't exist. It was only kindons-castles here/there. Everyone in the Peninsula was adquiring territory. The moors got to the land & took some for their king. The greatest knight in European history "El Cid" -on his famous white horse, was responsible for the total Reconquista of all moorish territories for his monarcs.

  • The song is a tribute to the people of Morroco. They're descendant from those moors throughn out of Spain by the famous knight on a white horse "EL CID". They were totally independent from the spanish Christians and very rich and sofisticated peoples. It was the "Reconquista". I think the arabic theme mixes quite nicely with the gipsy sound. WOW. I think of sand dunes in Sahara! Bye

  • Me encanta esta cancion con todo y que mi fuerte es el metal

  • What a bummer that when I go to the concerts they have never performed this one. This is my alltime Fav too...sigh

  • Love this song.

  • Esto es música, soy de México y estos gitanos siempre me ponen de buenas joder!!

  • andalusia, since 1492 we missed you.

  • they mix it up don't they?? :) their brother-in-law [Chico - he's way right next to Canut] is Algerian -- he must have had alot of input for this one/ in fact on the "US tour '90" video's version at the end he adds a cool little overlapping chant w/ the lailos that make it sound even more arabic-ish -- awesome!

  • Certainement le meilleur morceau des Kings

  • great music...i love it

  • Oce i did not like this song, was to Arabic, now i LOVE IT !!! THANKS FOR UPLOADING

  • AHHHHHH incredible!!!!!!

  • Magia .... pura Magia Gitana

  • Because of the influence of the Moorish culture on Spain this music does have an "Arabic" heritage.

    Anyway:

The guys make every song they sing something magical.

The even pwned The Eagles when they covered "Hotel California", added some real heat to it, and made it something that The Eagles never could.

    Viva GK

  • hammerogod, that is not the reason. The arabic sound has been added deliverately to the gipsy music they produce. Gipsys're a different ethnic group; not descendants from moorish, not spanish, or french; just gipsys. The Moorish culture that lived in Spain was a very independent & totally different from the Spanish Christian inhabitants. The moors occupied the Andalusian/Levante regions.

  • come on everybody knows the gypsys came from India, this soun has nothing to do with arabs or allah, lol

  • hah from india??????? funny!

  • By the picture in your profile you look a little hindu,so what's so funny about gypsies coming from the north of India,if you don't know read books about it and educate yourself.

  • Yes i think that you have to check again that you said about the sound has nothing with arabs?

The sound is arabic and mixed with flamenco .. also by the way they are french .. please watch online their biographies

  • Well i think you should check were spanish gypsies and gipsies in general came from (north of India),the Gipsy Kings are sons of a famous spanish flamenco singer Jose Reyes who escape general Franco persecusion of gipsies during his ruling,so that makes them very spanish, spanish gipsys.gracias.

  • Well everyone here tell to another people about what we know. Share knowledges is the best and thanks for you comment..bye Habbibi yo hablo espanol puedes hacerlo si deseas.

  • 3 of them are Baliardo: Paco, Diego, and Tonino the Poet Laureate of guitar. Two sets of cousins. Those three are distant cousins to Manitas de Plata [aka Ricardo Baliardo].

  • Manitas de Plata a great guitar player.ole

  • yeah, but their parents are refugees from spain

  • yeah thats right!

  • i like your comments morgoth199.... i noticed the same things when i watch their videos or listening their music really i feel like outside of the real life they have a extraordinary energy when they play!

  • Very awesome, one of my favorite Gipsy king songs, very warm, passionate melody, make you feel sad and happy at the same time i love it,just heart touching, my thanks to you

  • I wouldn't call it Arabic, but gypsy. Look for similar structure in the eastern European gypsies' music.

  • marykmusic, you obviously know about European old history. Most people keep on with such sterotypes! They should be careful how they speak about spanish people, the great majority have no moorish heritage at all! They're simply who they have always been Spaniards. Their heritage is that of the different cultures that make Spain.

  • History is all about stories. People are not familiar with history because it's not being taught in the old way anymore, by storytellers and poets. Now it's something that many students grow to hate and avoid, because they're forced to memorize so many names and dates... but to me, it's all fascinating.

  • marykmusic, I agree; it's sad that history isn't taught in a different way- "factual" history without the prejudice, or fantasy. Simply as it was, with an understanding of the "times" & the "peoples" involved.

  • Insane!!

  • When arabic melody combines with spanish you get magic

  • great!

  • Bravisimo!!! ke cancion tan hermosa. This is a beautifull song.

  • ou ieeeee xD

    perfect =)

  • What an awesome performance of an awesome song by an awesome group! Thank you for posting this. I've always wondered what they are singing though...is is arabic? Anyone know?

  • it's an old arabic music and they sing phonetic arabic and spanish
