Lennon was a complete arsehole who made fun of cripples on the streets of LIverpool before he became famous. Chewing gum would be the height of intellectualism for such a low life. I live in Lverpool and am of the same generation as Lennon so I know what I'm talking about.
@safeway56 I beg to differ. The best male singer alive today is chewing gum right before your eyes....and he learned that trick to keeping his mouth "moist" from the bass player(also a fantastic, fantastic singer) right there on the same stage with him(Wayne Nelson)....so I'll leave the answer to the question of "Gum chewing while singing?" up to the professionals.....Farnham and Nelson.
@safeway56 So tell all of us how you were personally "disrespected" by seeing Farnham(or anyone else for that matter) chew gum while singing. How exactly does "not" chewing gum while singing make someone (more) professional? ....or will you just come back with a joke like you did with my last post....IE...avoiding admitting you just got your ass handed to you.
*Ass handed to you* doesn't work as an insult in the UK...do try harder old boy.
On the subject of necessity of chewing gum whilst singing...Have you ever witnessed the great opera singers chewing gum whilst performing ? I think not.
@safeway56 Ahh....so an opera singer is better than any "lowly pop or rock singer" because opera singers don't chew gum....is that it? Maybe you'd better ask Anthony Warlow about getting upstaged by a "lowly occasional gum-chewing, pop or rock singer". OOPS....looks like your "opera" tactic backfired as well....:):):):)
He may have been unwell and chewing a menthol gum - ultimate professional "The Show Must Go On!".

@cat131313
Chewing gum whilst performing is direspectful to the audience as well as unprofessional. Farnham should know better.

@safeway56 Are you ready to start bashing John Lennon for chewing gum while singing....in front of an audience?
