For me, I just ran the source code in Qbasic and played the game. It was 1994-1995. Gorillas inspired many other games such as Worms or Gunbound. Another favorite back then was Nibbles, similar to Nokia's Snake game.
It's shocking to watch the graphics drawn element by element. I first discovered Gorilla.bas just prior to the Windows 3.11 days, and even then, there wasn't this kind of delay.
Long time ago I made a pimped version of that game where you could adjust the angle with the arrow keys and other things. (Let's see, high score, sound toggle on/off mybe something more)
I wonder if I have the file lying around somewhere.

Yeah Im not even sure if its that speed. I think its a NEC processor of some sort.
