Perhaps the best answer would be community based food producing resoarce groups. But that would cut into the mega-corporations profits. We need to get back to the land somewhat, but everyone needs to have access to the land and materials to produce from the land. I think we could even rid the whole planet of world hunger if that was our goal, but greed gets in our way. I will say this though even though obesity is not healthy, I would rather see these kids obese than half starved.

Very good video! I also think what you can buy with food stamps should be limited to only healthy foods. I get pissed when people use their bridge cards to buy loads of junk food. And I also think qualifications for food stamps needs to be limited. From what I've seen, almost anyone can qaulify for at least some food stamps nowadays. I think they should only be used in emergency situations.

@ccfan81 Well gosh last year I went with out eating for 3 weeks with out eating after I lost my job. and I was told that I did not qualify for food stamps because I did not have kids....

Personally I support wic which can only be used for healthy foods...and I understand...I was lucky...a neighbor saw that I had lost so much weight, my pants didn't fit me any more, and he and his wife fed me till I could get a job.

Basically if you're bottom-barrel poor, food stamps are money you can recieive from the government in order to buy groceries. Nowadays most of them are put on a bridge card, which is like a special debit card specifically for things like food stamps, WIC, cash assistance, etc.

I like the idea of limiting what stamps can buy, but meat should be included. Anyway, these people are obese primarily because they do not move enough. Put them to work and they will burn the excess calories. Video games and TV and bad parenting are the real culprets.

We have this very popular pizza called "Grandiosa", and today I read the news about the "meat" that's being used in it; it only contains 40% real meat!

Those are the people who make the good people who use the stamps for good look bad. :/ When things get good in the food card department healthy foods are in the list, but yes there are quite a few people who do abuse the system with junk. Now some people buy junk because it's cheaper, I've seen this. Particularly during a shortage of healthy foods in the fruit and vegs section. I can't blame'em if the city isn't providing and some families can't go to another city to get.

Some markets don't have nutritional foods and most of the time stamps don't last that long if going to the healthy stuff (they are quite expensive). I know I have stamps, but luckily there are further programs, such as the one my father is in, that give away healthy foods for free and give tips to people where to buy good food for low prices, unfortunately people at times don't have the time to do some searching and find out more on such programs.

I remember living with my Grandparents in rural Mississippi. They were poor, living on social security, but had a few acres where they grew vegetables to eat, sell, or trade for meat and eggs. Grandpa grew bamboo which he sold as cane poles, whistles and such. Each month, we'd go into town to pick up 'commodities'; cheese, beans, flour, peanut butter, etc. Grandma made biscuits every morning with bacon and eggs. They worked hard and ate well for poor people... some of my best memories.

I work at a gracery store and the majority of the people waste foodstamps on junk and then they use the "cash side" of the card which they are supposed to use on diapers, toilet paper, and other neccesities that aren't food on cigarettes and lottery tickets.
