  • Great work, thank you!

Maybe something unknown for many people: Back in 1984, she was supposed to play the leading character in the never filmed tv series called "All That Glitters", foundet by Knight Rider creator Glen Larson. The Knight Rider episode "Mouth of the Snake" was a back-door pilot for ATG.

Her character name was "Joanna St. John", and her partner a guy called David Dalton (portrayed by L. Charles Taylor).

It would have been an adventure/crime series.

  • @NDoraku Oh I didn't know that. Thank you for the information. :) She is a great lady and I have the pleasure of having her as an occasional pen pal.

  • I remember that Night Gallery episode, altho she might have been in more than one.In the one I remember, she was given a pin of a mouse to wear and it attacked her at the end.Or maybe she was driving around a lot looking for a particular house.Or that may have been another episode.

  • @kittysusca Joanna Pettet appeared in 4 Night Gallery episodes.

Se1Ep09 - The House - She plays a ghost who thinks she is a real person.

Se2Ep10 - Keep In Touch. We'll Think of Something - She plays a devious dreamgirl.

Se2Ep22 - The Caterpillar - She plays a young wife of who is pursued by a treacherous letch.

Se3Ep02 - The Girl with the Hungr Eyes - She plays a soul-sucking succubus created by mass media.

"Hungry Eyes"is the best. JP is so gorgeous in this episode, you will cry!

  • So I'm watching old Night Gallery episodes, and see this women who looks like a cross between Susan Blakely and Sharon Tate. Not only that, she has a wonderful voice and seems to be a good actress. Where has this woman been all my life? I always thought Sharon Tate was the most beautiful women ever to hit Hollywood, but now I'm not so sure. I wish I was a talent agent in the 60's. I would have made this woman a superstar!

  • Was that really Joanna Pettet who posted comments here?

  • always liked joanna, loved her in an episode of 'the fugitive' a beautiful and sad story that always moved me... anyways, again, she was a classy lady, just like sharon was...

  • Baybea, THANKS for posting this tribute! I was Damien's best friend when we were kids, and stayed in contact as best I could with him as I moved away to Hawaii and Australia. I spent many years now looking for Joanna and Alex, I found and talked with Alex in Texas last year, but have been unable to contact Joanna, to tell her how much I have missed Damien, how much I too loved Damien, and how very sorry I am that we lost him, I always thought we would be life-long friends. I love you Joannna!

  • As a teen,I first saw Joanna watching "Night Gallery" ,she was beautiful! Now I have this dvds and watch it with my son.I wanted to be like her.Its very sad that she lost her son, like Barbara Eden and Farrah Fawcet to drugs. Thanks for this bio, great!!

  • Baybea,

Thank you for this tribute. I just discovered it. How do I contact you?

    Joanna Pettet

  • What an incredible beauty, it's too bad she didn't do more movies. Her Feb. 1968 Playboy pictorial was beautifully done and very tasteful. Great talent and Lady.

  • Hi Beautiful video-

I helped Joanna Pettet one night about 10 years ago- her truck broke down on the Oro Vista road going into Angeles Crest mountains where she lived. I drove her home so she could call AAA and she did in fact start crying in front of me about the death of her son, Damian. I talked to her for awhile that night and will never forget that night. An amazing human being. Thank you for making such a nice mini-bio. - David

  • Hi David,

I just discovered this mini-bio of me and was overwhelmed to read your post. I do remember that night and thank you so much for posting your memory of me and reminding me that moments in time are there forever.

    Bless you,

    Joanna Pettet

  • As an actress, she had such appeal and class--that face, voice and beauty. She may not have had the depth in her career as a Meryl Streep, but she did not look like a "chicken"(as Truman Capote once described Streep's appearance) either!!!

  • Wow she was in the return of frank cannon?? really? lookout Meryl Streep!!

  • Hands down, one of the most underrated actresses. Ever. I always was looking for her on tv. She was never on enough. She should've been HUGE. I don't know why she wasn't.

  • Thanks for posting this-- I always thought --"why she did not become a bigger star"--she had it all. Though she was well respected for her acting skill, especially for "The Group." Glad to hear she is still going. I also read she had another close call with death involving murder besides Sharon Tate's--was it called "the career girl murders."

  • Joanna was last person see sharon alive several hours before the murder on August 8th 1969. Sharon and Joanna were close friends. RIP Sharon.

  • I loved Joanna Pettet. She was an icon. And could steal a scene just by walking in the room.

  • Greatly underrated actress and star.

  • baybea, Awesome, Joanna is my alltime favorite babe. She is my ultimate woman what a beauty. Thanks for posting!

  • I still have the hugest crush on her. I hope she's doing great right now. Glad to have found this video.

  • I remember Joanna. I was wondering what happened to her, now I know. Thank you

  • Hulu has an episode of NIGHT GALLERY available she was in called "The House".

  • What a beauty she was, and still is ! I have her in CASINO ROYALE and THE GROUP.. the latter should be on DVD, she gives a great performance in that film.

  • She was and is certainly one of the few in this world with natural beauty

  • lovely tribute to a lovely woman

  • tyvm :)

  • Thanks for posting this Bea! Joanna is an abosolutely stunning woman, and a wonderful actress. I had a major crush on her while growing up and wondered what happened to her. Thanks to you, I now know.

    Keep up the good work!

    -M

  • That's why I like to research actors and actresses and do these mini bios. We all like to know what happened to them. :) Glad you enjoyed

  • When i was a kid..i LOVED Joanna, she was a good actress..too bad her life was so sad.

I will always remember a movie of the week she did in the 70's called The Weekend Nun..a really good movie!

She will always be a favorite of mine!

  • we all have a story to tell about our lives don't we? Doesn't matter about fame or fortune, there is sad times in all of our lives. Thanks for watching

  • wow she has the same name and birthday as mine.

  • Beautiful job!

  • Great video, Bea! I really enjoyed it - I haven't thought of Frank Cannon in years! - roc

  • That's why I like doing these bios. I enjoy the researching of actors that you haven't seen around at all. :)

  • I read that she knew a couple of girls who were murdered in about 1963 which became known as the 'career girl murders'case??? she got close to being killed with ST aswell didnt she.....is it me or does she not look a lot like Sharon??

  • She does look like Sharon...just as beautiful and similar faces.

I don't know about the career girl murders but think I will try to look it up.

  • Ive just looked it up on wikipedia baybea, its mentioned with the Sharon Tate bit.....strange hows shes had a close brush with death on a number of ocassions.

  • I would LOVE to be a biography researcher! It pleases my snoopy senses plus I like to see where they are today; IF they are still around. Sometimes, they just drop out of sight and you wonder what happened?

Thanks Rick for watching and catch up with you sometime.

  • I really don't think I've seen her before.

  • She was probably before your time but check out the movies I mentioned. She was a very good actress.

  • Okie :>

  • Nicely done video, Baybea.

    -- Matt

  • Thank you Matt...I think you are too young still to remember her but she was quite often on television back then.

  • i remember seeing her on television from time to time back then.

i didn't realize she had such an interesting bio. being kidnapped probably would have been the last straw for me too!

  • Isn't that something? I would have been so scared and I'm sure she was. She certainly had her share of ups and downs yes.

Thanks for watching Robin. If you like these bios, there is more coming in the future.

  • Thanks Bea - I just love it when you do this. I love knowing about celebrities - but only what they want to give out. Your have a nice and very soothing voice! Would you read the phone book outloud please? ha ha xxoxoxoxoxoo

  • hahahah...the phone book lmao. Should I start with A or work backwards from Z heheh?

You know, I am really into hollywood from the 80's on back. I think it's because it was a big part of my childhood...t.v., going to movies and when I was very little, I wanted to be a dancer or an actress. That changed drastically when the shy & anxious teens appeared. So, this is my fun...to do bios :)

  • She was a very beautiful woman, and she could act too!

  • She was yes and I wish there were pictures of her now. I bet she is still beautiful.

  • I remember her from a lot of TV. It's sad about her son.

You did a great job on this. 5 stars.

    -- David

  • Thank you Dave.:) This is really what I enjoy doing most on my channel. I love delving into research to find out where the hollywood actors have disappeared to and what they are doing now.

  • Bea I really enjoyed that little bio. Nice video. Will we see more of that kind of thing?

  • Yes, I have done a few so far...Clint Walker, Billie Burke (Glenda the good witch),Agnetha Faeltskog (Abba fame).

I like to research and find out where those actors are that we don't see anymore. Those that made an impact on me growing up. I'm glad you enjoyed it! More coming.

  • How interesting Bea! I remember her from some of those shows!

  • It just goes to show how we all have lives filled with drama.:) thanks for watching Judy xo

  • I remember her. What made you decide to make a video about her?

  • I was looking at pictures on google images (I key in actors names etc. and lots of stuff comes up) and saw her in a photo. Then read what her name was because honestly, I never knew her name! But I did know of her and remember her very well in lots of shows and movies. So I decided to do a mini bio on her. I love to remember actors from the past. :)

  • I do remember her and really liked her acting. I loved all the movies you mentioned and she did a grand job on anything thing I saw her in. Thake care, Sherry

  • Hi Sherry and welcome to the baybea room!

She was an interesting actress to watch.

  • I remember her from the TV dramas. She was very beautiful! :)

  • yes she really was and her voice was lovely too.

  • I hope she would come back and pick up some roles kinda like what Julie Christie is doing not saying that they compare.

She was a 60's chick up there in beauty with Racquel,Peggy Lipton,Yvette Mimueux,Senta Berger and others.

She was always rock solid in her acting on T.V. I do remember a TV movie having to do with Pioneer women she was excellent.

Thanks for the update I did not know she stayed with Bates until he died.

  • I noticed Julie Christie was doing that. I think Raquel is in something either coming up or recently done.

I remember being a teen and thinking that I wanted hair like Joanna and a perfect oval face like hers too lol.

Yes, she stayed with Sir Bates and actually was his caregiver right to the end. There is another bio I will be uploading in the near future...remember the farmer's daughter?
