Hi sigalakos! I have mediastream running on my machine but I cant seem to figure out how to add tv shows. I add the source with the folder containing the diff. shows but I dont get the fan art, posters, descriptions etc like you do. Any advice. Maybe a video tutorial on how to do it? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
I read your post on insanelymac. Thanks for sharing on how to make a cheap hackintosh media center. I currently own a Shuttle SG33G5 with a Q6600@2.7ghz, 4 GB RAM and a 8800GT running on 10.5.5 and Plex. This set up rocks. Plex rocks. I'm doing research now on using a video capture card.
Download the cover from the internet (I recommend getvideoartwork just google it) place the covers in a easy to access folder. Now find the movie without the artwork or any artwork you want to change and press the key i on your keyboard select "get thumb" then at the bottom of the list you'll see browse. Browse to your folder and find your cover. Thats all. Another cool hot key you can use about everywhere is C it's just another menu. One more is \ (right above enter) that toggles fullscreen. GL
Since you seem to have it all set up very nicely with art etc. I'm assuming you have a fair bit of experience with Plex. Im considering getting a MacMini (im aware the spec is a couple yrs old now) specifically for HD movies. MKV at 720 and 1080p. A lot of ppl say there are problems getting it to play smoothly, others are saying it's perfect. What's been your experience? (some ppl even say Plex plays 1080p perfectly, which i found doubtful as it only uses ffdShow and ffmpeg built-in codecs.)
Yes, Plex and XBMC have scrapers that search through your content and do lookups on sites like IMDB and TVDB for movies, tv shows and music and download all kind of infos, covers to your pc/mac. All you need to do is enable Library Mode and name your files accordingly. Check XBMC wiki for more info on how to set this up correctly.
You are right. It's running on Plex but the skin is for XBMC and by extension Plex. So perhaps I should add "for XBMC and Plex" as I don't want to exclude the main reason this skin came to be (XBMC).
wtf my plex doesnt even work, when I hit channel directory it just says "waiting for response" and it never gets one..

Did you have to rename all your library in order to get your Movies/TV Shows section all figured out like that?
Please respond, I'd really need the help.

wow, you must have endless storage capacity.. all those movies, tv-shows..
I saw you have no thumbs for some audio files.
I'm still searching on how I can add custom thumbs for my movies who won't receive a thumb from imdb.

To my experience till now 720P MKV is great even at high bit-rates. I haven't tried 1080P as my TV is 720P (no point downloading them).

Awesome. I absolutely love the Plex look. Is this running on a XMBC modded classic Xbox?
MooseDesigner 3 years ago
No, even better! This is running on a mac mini, able to play HD video.

Oh mama... I have a spare classic Xbox, which is why I asked, but any excuse to add another Mac to my household is always welcome.
Can you control the UI with the Apple Remote?
MooseDesigner 3 years ago
Yes you can - it's not perfect but it works! I suggest an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard or a wireless XBox controller

maybee a stupid question but: from where do you have all the content? cover pictures, casts, movie description and so on? :)
flipflop1986 3 years ago
You can store it on your pc/mac, or you can use XBMC/Plex to grab the art/thumbs/posters, plot info etc. from the net.

Nice little demo of MediaStream. Have you considered renaming the video title though? As it's running on Plex is it not?
