I got this album when I was 15 and hated it and now I like it...I was only into what I considered "pure punk" and then I got into Black Flag's later era stuff at the age of 18.
@muler321-growing up in the 80's and early 90's kind of gave me an insight of different types of genres of music, but true to most of the music that has come out after the 90's. the so-called punk was anything but. back then to me music was only in certain categories such as if a band was punk then they were and if they were hardcore then they were. i think wikipedia is made up by people who have some knowledge of certain things. i only heard of screamo a few years ago and not in the 90's.
@muler321-back then screamo wasn't around that's some stupid shit the newer kids came up with nowadays. back in the early 90's and 80's emo was cool as hell. yeah you had the whiney kids, but they all had their sense of originality and being unique. when this whole carbon copy rip off of the old emo and trying to make it into a new thing came into play it totally sucked because they all were pansies. all in all the new emo sucked balls.
@nando19751 Everything past the millennium in that category is terrible. But screamo was indeed around in the 90's, it was an offshoot of hardcore, but sounded much like hardcore. Check it out on Wikipedia.
@shikengastxa-very true. i'm just glad the emo scene died out. too bad it didn't sooner, but that's where the whole fun trying to express oneself comes into play as a youth. i wonder what's next?
@nando19751 Old emo is actually pretty cool; check out Rights of Spring and Jets to Brazil. As for screamo, Saetia and Orchid, as well as a ground-breaking hardcore band known as Mohinder bring forth true energy and emotion. 90's emo and screamo are actually pretty Awesome!!!
@gribble503-unfortunately it has. remember when emo came out. well with goth and punk having a kid it gave birth to a mutated retarded cry baby scene.
@nando19751 it's amazing how two genera which were basically awesome in their own respects- managed to create such crap that was directly opposed to the ideology of both the parent genera >.<
that on riff where he sings hold on, kinda sounds like woody woodpeker laffin.
