@gcmc2 Yeah .. that falls into the category of a sting, but what/ev semantics. He already had been prosecuted and convicted. Back when she was 13, she didn't have a husband and children. Perhaps you could set aside your bloodthirstiness for 2 seconds and take into account the discussion she might to have with her children and how her children might be affected among their peers. Who are you to say this "resolves" it for her. I don't hear Samantha crying for blood. You just revictimize her.

@subversyv @subversyv Look, U really need to wake up here. Try reading posts and familiarising Urself with the case. BTW It's NOT a sting at all. It's just a tactical capture. He wasn't lured or duped in any way. U display NO understanding of this case or legal procedure. I have explained that SGs opinion or requirements have NO bearing on the case. It is legal process. For pete's sake at least learn the basics.

@gcmc2 On top of that .. "justice" is whatever we say it is. Oftentimes, during sentencing the victims are heard from. This sometimes influences the punishment imposed. The importance of this is that it's partly the victim who helps to determine what "justice" means. She has conquered her injustice, now people like you want to take it away from her by labeling her a victim again.

@subversyv ""justice" is whatever we say it is." Well, Ur posts just get more ridiculous. Justice is what we say it is ? " the victim determines what justice is" ? that is just complete nonsense. In some jurisdictions, the victim can make an impact statement and the judge or jury can take it into account, but legal process DOES NOT depend on the victim's opinion. Escaping legal custody is a crime against the state in any case.

@gcmc2 Well actually I do agree w/you. I was having this out with awm0912, but it appears I really didn't understand the facts of the case. I never really looked into it before and when I did I saw that Polanski really did perpetrate a rape. So I'm in agreement with you. Even though Samantha forgave him, he committed a serious crime & admitted guilt to it. Now he must pay. No way out of it. If he only gets the 2 yrs they say, he's still getting off extremely light.

@subversyv On top of all this, as far as the civil suit against Polanski, it's not like he volunteered to give Samantha $500K out of some sense of remorse, she had to sue him, which he didn't immediately pay. It's not clear if he ever paid her in full. So the guy is a bastard, and I'mma boycott him. How's that?

@subversyv Yes, I think he deserves to be boycotted as U say now U have the extra facts. That's why I'm disgusted by those in the industry who support him. I'm not really a movie goer, but I won't watch anything of these creeps' work from now on. I guess the two years may be all he gets and I suppose I could live with that. The public should reject anything he does subsequently. Even most French are disgusted by him.

Also consider that in 1969 his pregnant wife and several of his close friends were brutally murdered in his house leaving Polanski quite devastated. Had he been home he would have been murdered too...not to excuse him, but, he did go through an excruciating ordeal mentally & emotionally. Hmmm
