Yes, I think you are correct. Cristian's focus on the dance and on Cheryl, and on Cheryl's instructions is a bit tardy but now in full gear... after the accident. Life is an exercise in irony or so it seems to me.
IF he keeps improving at this rate they could win! I for that.
