  • Nobody comes to The U.S.A with his pockets full of money; all of those bums with money are called by the Europeans: "hilly billies"; "white trash" ; "trailer trash"; "Europen-rejects" and many other non-gratous names...What you find there are mostly Hitler rejects: Jews, Arabs, "actors", Gypsies...Money? probably; Class? no.

  • Beverly Hills: land of immigrants; just like the rest of the country. How soon they forget their low class-miserable roots. In the 1930s-60s, there used to be signs posted on many stores all over the Hollywood area, that read: "No dogs or actors allowed". Actors are considered desirable and are admired only by the lowest social and economic class of any country; Beverly Hills is packed with people better known for their money, vices, scandalous life... than for their class.

  • why do these ppl seem upset that there's gonna be a 99cent store!?!?!!!! i recently bought $1.00 sunglasses at a dollar store and they looked just like the ones my cousin got, but he paid $350.00!!!! mine felt cheap though... but who got the deal!??!!

    I DIDDDDDDD!!!!!!! \(.^_^.)/

  • I've driven past a 99 Cent store in Beverly Hills, it's on Wilshire.

  • @jamesrosevear If you are refering to the 99 cents store located on Wilshire Blvd. -just west of La brea- I would tell you that Beverly Hills, is actually located West of Doheney Drive.....That 99 cents store is actually located at some sort of a limbo-land (part of the City of Los Angeles), located between Beverly Hills and Hancock Park ....Real Estate in the commercial part of Beverly Hills is extremely expensive; how many 99 cents items would they have to sell every day to pay the rent?

  • A lot fo the stuff they have are actually brands and cost 5 times less. Why pay more if you can save :)

  • There already is a 99 cent store "Beverly Hills" location... it just isn't on Rodeo.

  • Lol that does look akward, lol haha its good its good

  • People where like What i have to pay less than 100 dollars "Outrages"

  • They probably said something like their is something lower than a 10 dollars bill?

  • Imagine what the people at Dior were thinking!

  • More like 99 dollar store.

  • ahhahahahaa

  • epic

  • OMG, that's hilarious. Those people from a few doors down looked like they were about to wet themselves.

  • wow, nice!!!

  • Please explain(seriously please do i'm clue less)

  • rodeo drive has all they expensive brand name stores, so it would be odd if a dollar store opened there

  • @douggyfrreshh Alot of art is not considered good because of the technique or craftsmanship, but more because of the idea behind the piece. This was not a prank, it was created by an artist to point out the flaws in our human nature.

  • haha! thats hilarious, wrong but hilarious!

  • What does IMAO mean?

  • Laughing my ass off

  • AHAHA. hilarious

  • These people are living in a bubble if they're that offended by a stupid dollar store!

  • BRAVO!!! My god how the Rich in this country hate the not rich! As sign goes up and they piss themselves. Just wait for the revolution then their bubbles with really burst!

  • wtf is this obscure symbol after the two nines?

  • That would be the punctuation symbol for "cent(s)."

Not to be confused with "sense."

  • lol i dunno if ur bein sarcastic or if u don get tha im tryna b sarcastic... proly the first one :P

  • Lol ... probably not . . . this 1 time anyway. Next time I will skip the opportunity.

  • umm.... umm.... CHEEZE IT!

  • Lol ... and I don't know y!

  • public schools, damn them!

  • hahahah

  • 99 cent stores should change their name to something more ritzy sounding, like Beverly HIlls Frugals Stores or Bargain Hills Mart..

  • the woman's face at 0:42 is classic

  • im pretty sure it was just a joke

  • why would someone joke about that ?

  • idk.... well maybe not a joke but jus somthin that would trigger reaction. in the description said it was an art piece that lasted only three days so it couldntv been a legal transaction.

  • Look at the crowd reactions. That's why.

  • Rock on, man. I live near there. Not more than five miles from that location there are homeless people starving in the streets - literally. It's amazing that we accept it as normal.

  • What's funny is that a lot of wealthy people shop at the 99 Cents Store. There are always a fleet of expensive cars parked in the lot. Who doesn't like a bargain?!

  • simply brilliant. loved watching all those rich fuck-faces all confused and shit. bet maybe 1 in ten of them understood the symbolism.

  • brilliant. but seriously you're going to arrested for this kind of stuff, the posting it on youtube part pretty soon in the USA.

  • you are MAD - Brilliant - Truly AMAZING and just so INSPIRING. Thank you for sharing your art the way you do. I LOVED the art installation and look forward to more.

    God Bless You

America would have one less person not paying taxes

    if you were not here.

    I thank you

Keep UP and Keep doing more INSTALLATIONS

    ps

Two Thumbs UP - WAY UP !!

  • THE ONLEY FUCK-EN People are the one's who go 2 a store that are more expensive come on you fuckers you people always try to find the best deal at you shopping places. here is a other store that sells food. I like paying a 1$ for 6 sticks of gum and its good fuck-en gum

  • man, I dont hate 99 cent stores, they are great for low budget familys and starving college students, but u should see the one in mcarthur park near the subway, the park looks nice, but on the other side looks dirty, a bunch of hispanics solicite stuff outside, and the guys hit on me, even when they are with their family, the workers are rude too, only one worker ever said hi to me, the workers laugh and smile at other hispanics in line, but once they see me they give a look, like oh its you.

  • how come when everytime you go in a dollar store, it always has that same, wierd smell?

  • Hehehe... One day it's 2K at Dior's, next day it's 99 cents right next door. Sweeeet! I'll cancel my account at Dior's and open one next door. This is the best business venture yet!

Question: when do they plan to open one next to Microsoft? I can't wait to get my iPhone for 99 cents.

  • There's one of these by my house here in AZ and my neighorhood is decent and I love the deals, they actually have name brands. There are hardly any weirdos or homeless people. And to those of you who are refering to illegals, how the yell do you guys know if they are illegal and what does that have to do with anything on the video? Do you go up to them and ask them? Many types of people go there NOT only illegals and weirdos. If I was really rich, I would still go shopping there.

  • um ur in arizona not everyone is from arizona here, every state is different, but the majority, maybe not all, are in low class areas, In CA there are homeless and mentally disabled people who hang around the stores, majority in LA and OC, dont believe me, go yourself, no they are not all illegals, but many might be, especially in LA. I go shopping all the time there for drinks, random stuff, and lets say I'm the only white customer in the whole store, But I like it anyway, they have neat stuff.

  • I agree

  • Amazing how human nature works!! here in Florida you can see the same thing but when Katrina stroke you saw all these snobs fighting over toilet paper and water at a 99cents store

  • what snobs cuz my mom shops there all the time for food theres nothing wrong with it its just cheap anything worng with that? and they could save money and be even richer wut dumb asses

  • Love the 99 cent store, and you'll find one in any upper class neighborhood, too, they also tend to have slightly better items in richer neighborhoods.

Regarding this clip though, you DO see a "Dior" sign next to the lease billboard. Use your 'crap' detector. Why would there be a 99 cent store on Rodeo-- there are only boutiques and a couple restaurants, namely restaurants like Urasawa, ex-Ginza sushi ko. Exactly

  • I love it! Some people are such snobs! You can find some great deals. Thats whats wrong with all of us. We are not conservative enough, and are so spoiled!

  • Rightly Said! I bought my Badminton equipment from the 99.

  • I love shopping there, but it does bring bad people, like ross stores, there tends to be more homeless hanging around and probably around 90 percent of immigrants shop there, like walmarts, i love the deals, but why do trashy/stupid/homeless use them as their main hangouts geesh its annoying. they need more laws about weirdos hanging out around them and forbid soliciting for money, and get more security, but no, they dont care.

  • and you're an immature child

  • Thanks Mr. Bush.

  • this is funny!!!.........=-D

  • No way! This has to be a joke. There must be zoning or business requirements to open a sote on Rodeo Drive and this would never fly.

  • I want to work there....my 99 cents manager in SD is being a bitch. I want to transfer to L.A.!!!

Many people buy at these stores because they can save a lot. There's many good items. I have a BA and I have worked there for more than 6 years. Its not the best job in the work but I least I can still pay my student loans. That

's the reason why I want to be tranfered there, work there until I find a better opportunity in my field.

    peace.

  • Lol people were actually appauld to see a 99 cent store 'Coming Soon' sign in their rich and lavish shopping area. I guess they're more than comfortable buying $2,000 pants because some fashion editorial said it was 'chic' and a must-have lol. Such narcissistic blow-hards they are.

  • sweetheart u speeled GUCCi wrong

  • i used to work at the "99". mosts things are usable, but i'd avoid the food products. i'm not shocked so much at the people's reactions though...opening a 99 cent store on rodeo drive would be like opening a ferrari dealership in the middle of south central- probably not the greatest business decision of all time.

  • Are these pricks serious? Have they never seen a 99 cents store?

    Die.

  • When I first found out about the 99 cents only store I was kind of apprehensive about buying anything there, but there's actually some decent stuff. You just need to choose carefully. Best thing to get there are giveaways (teacher's haven) and random supplies. Ideal for starving college students who don't care about matching utensils.

  • That is the only place most teachers can buy things for their students.

  • Theres a 99 cent store pretty close to where I live. Its mostly filled with crap, and I don't really buy anything there. There are some food supplies that I buy. And some of the cosmetics there cost like 10$ elsewhere so I try those out.

  • yea I got one close by too their really good and sum stuff u can get 3 for 99¢ it does that with chocolate bars but usually they have white stuff on the inside or the expiration date is bad.

still a package of 3 lighters for 99¢ is any child pyromaniac's dream and lots of flamables there too... that might be a hazzard and im not saying im a pyromaniac but still 99¢ is a good deal for most stuff in there.

  • Id be happy to have one of these in my neighborhood. Sounds cool. Everything for a buck. I mean..some things id rather just by the good stuff..but why spend 3 4 bucks for bobby pins when i can get them for so cheap! How lucky all you are to have one in your neighborhhod! : D

  • HEAVEN FORBID residents of BH be victims of the 99 cent stores...that would force them to realize that they live in a city where homelessness is apparent and pain is tangible.

Anyone else confused how a human being can get paid millions of dollars for acting, and those who are making a difference (teachers, nurses, caregivers social workers etc) get paid squat?

    Our priorities are sick.

  • Hey, I happen to love the "99 Cents Store" because you can get so much for about a dollar. I'm just a regular there and plus they have a produce section now. Maybe, they should have a 99 Cent Store in Rodeo Dr.

  • It would it be more credible if it would said: $99.00 ...this people!

  • I thought the 99 cent store sign on Rodeo funny because of the expensive stores on Rodeo drive and how I can't imagine Gucci selling anything for 99 cents. If were rich (which I am only in spirit :), I would probably still shop at 99 cent store, but still would find it odd and funny to be in Beverly Hills, not because I thought I was better than that but because it just doesn't seem to fit in with the other stores. Like a dog sleeping with a bunch of ducks or something like that.

  • Was that for real? Somehow I don't think so, I should drive there to find out. Cracks me up though. I always wondered if there was a 99 cents store in BH.

  • Haha wow I can't believe they all reacted like that. If I saw a guy hammering a sign I'd just be pissed that he's on the sidewalk and I have to make sure I don't knock into his ladder.

  • I LOVE the 99cent stores

  • i seen that store

  • NOBODY - was made from a "special" mold from God..........Sad that the rich think so.....

  • ha ha!! Very clever. The looks on the people says it all "How dare they come to our neighborhood!". Well done.

  • Except I used to be poor, did you used to be rich, or this is all just your opinion?

  • Love it! Eat the rich!

  • lmfaf im gonna go do that lol hahah

  • LMAO this was hilarious, and I grew up with my parents having a lot of money, and being able to shop at the surrounding stores, so you can't say jack sh*t philsuncle. Because I'll tell you this, my parents would be laughing their asses off as well.

  • I'm sure your parents are very proud of you!

  • Just remember, rich people are just as good as poor people. You and the homeless man living outside your apartment are just as equal. And if you think I'm saying this just because I'm poor, you are wrong. I'm also upper class.

(the beginning of this comment is on the other post philsuncle posted)

  • I agree rich people are just as good as poor, or middle class, so why all the anger toward the rich? That was my point!

  • there is anger towards the rich AND anger towards the poor. this video + comments are proof. By the people in the video's response to the sign, it shows a sense of superiority; the comments posted show the sense of superiority of the poor.

  • hey brandondaley37, you are quite wrong because there's nobody superior to another neither the opposite. And of course there's probably a sense of revolution in lower classes towards imoralized people of nowadays like the rich or how you call them. Nowadays it's incredible how a watch perhaps can be so expensive. This ad only tries to turn these situations into ironic statements.

  • thats what i said. i agree with you completly. im not sure if you misread, or if i was unclear.

    eh...

  • Oh come on Philsuncle, we can't laugh at rich people a little. This video is good, the guy who put the sign up is really funny, I just love how he just got the sign up like he was a real construction guy.

  • I gotta say I really thought that video was pretty interesting, did you see everyone's face....

  • shove that up your wealthy asses !!!

  • Don't you think you would get that type of reaction if some put up a sign say "coming soon, Fendi", in a very poor nieghborhood? What's really funny and sad is how little most of you know about wealthy people. Most worked thier rears off to become rich, the odds are against it these days. If you inherit money, it's a full time job keeping it! But hey it's so much easier to hate the rich than trying to learn how they did it, right?

  • not everyone in the world has the ability to be rich...everyone has the ability to be poor.

  • not everyone rich works for there money all those younger girls walking around will always be rich for doing nothing

  • That is a very small percentage blown up by making stars out of people who get famous and people like the posters here who idealize them.

  • not everyone in the world has the ability to be rich...everyone has the ability to be poor.

  • An attitude like that is sure to keep you poor!

  • HAHAHA IF YOU INHERIT MONEY ITS A FULL TIME JOB KEEPING IT lmao you must be a rich little jerk if you lived a real life yooud be begging to inherit money not complaining its a job to keep it hahaha wtf

  • Actually I am rich, I do ok, but it seems you are poor and bitter, and can only attack me personally not my argument. I was at time poor, so I've been on both sides. This is typical of the small minds who stay poor! I might also point out that the people here who can not understand my point is about the percentage that stay poor. It is the way you think that gives you the ability to become wealthy, but hey don't try to learn, stay poor, LOL

  • Read these it might help with your proble:

Rich Dad Poor Dad, What the rich teach their kids about money, by Robert T Kiyosaki

The Pursuit of Happyness,(movie) The Story Of Chris Gardner

The Forgotton Man, New History Of The Great Depression, by Amity Shlaes

  • you are someone arrogant, bragging on here about how you are wealthy and its impossible to understand you because of it? You are breaking social classes and barriers up more then those laughing at this. Thats the difference between rich people and poor people. Rich people have this odd sense of entitlement lingering around them just like the cologne they are drenched in.

  • You are confusing confidence and experience with arrogaance and bragging. maybe your to young to know the difference! LOL

  • BTW, i don't wear cologne or wear jewlery for that matter, but I do feel I have earned some things, entitlement is an attitude of the poor! Keep trying! LOL

  • great video would have been funnier if there really was going to be a 99cent store on Rodeo Dr. Also if people don't know what Rodeo Drive is go watch the movie "Pretty Woman"

  • that is hilarious.

  • This is absolutely hilarious. But one would have to know Rodeo Drive to appreciate this.

  • Great vid... the guy under me is a complete idiot.

  • call me an idiot, but i really don't get it.

  • Well, where do you live?

  • Who the hell works anymore. Just me and a handful of other guys throughout the ranks. I am skilled all over but all that is here are shit jobs. Still how many idiots are they supporting in their beurocratic system that they couldnt make room for skill over bullshit? I work harder out of personal pride, family tradition, and neccessity.

  • There are so many people unwilling to work a nine-to-five and so many people who even when they are working arent really working. It is hard among the working class to find workers. Then the middle class is worse because they hog up the good-pay little-work jobs. The middle class professionals strive to do as little as possible and get away with as much as possible. Then the rich they lack vision and do not reward innovation and good work out of lack of caring (lack of work on their part).

  • Interesting art.

What surprises me is the amazing amount of hate in the comments. If those with more money knew more about those with less *and* vice versa we'd all be better off.

The 99 cent store sign on Rodeo drive is unlikely and therefore surprising. Surprised looks from the passersby do not implicate that they are snobs. Maybe they are, maybe they *aren't*. Examine your reaction and if it's filled with emotion, negative or otherwise figure out why.

  • Good point! There are people who want the devide between Rich and Poor. They will sweep in on promises and screw everyony!

  • Fantastic video. Funny how people on here refer to product on Rodeo Drive as high end. I see it as overpriced nonsense for the extremely shallow. They need a review of the 7 deadly sins.

  • I was there when you did this on Rodeo...I thought it was funny then...nice to see the final product

  • wow, thats funny

  • love it

  • Notice that white male at the end--he is so amazed that he stops a passer-byer to look at it with him. Thats how you know that it wouldn't be accepted, because he needed someone to join in on the amazement with him.

  • It so brings down the tone of a snobby area...

  • fucking rich people

  • this shit is funny i was there when he showed up

  • i compleatly agree with moxieman2. just back off everyone!

  • BOYCOTT ANN COULTER, BOYCOTT NANCY GRACE!

    Coulter, Grace = Narcissist 1000%

  • Every damn one of you are just jealous.

  • I was there not long ago I wish I was there to see it, hilarious, it's the type of thing I would think about doing.

  • A $99 (dollars, not cents) shop might actually work on Rodeo Drive. It would stir liberal cries of mockery on the working class. Life is fun, isn't it? The one's who are down and out won't even ever read this.

  • i fuckin hate rodeo dr fuckin rich ppl are nasty!

  • it is disgusting how much people waste their money!

  • The reactions off the people walking by are ficking priceless!!!!

  • hahahaha look at those dumb fucking idiots.

  • uppity schmucks! love it.

  • The price is right.

  • hahah this is great

  • oh whatever. we are not sheltered. back off.

  • I you were sheltered would you even know it?

  • That's "if" not I.

  • What sheltered lives they must live. These people really need to wake up.

  • And the middle class rides again!!!!! Take THAT Rodeo Dr.!!!!!

  • ew. thats not even funny. i would hate to see a 99 cent only store everytime i go there.

  • Looks like the jokes on you...

  • Why? Ever been in a 99 cent store?

  • all about high classmens! like me! all about beverly hills

  • wow thats some fucked up shit what a bitch fuck high class

  • Fantasic!

and people still like to believe that the caste system dosent exist in the U.S.

Bet there were alot of calls to the other buisness owners/lawyers/city planners over that sign.

  • I would have loved to hear what the locals were saying ? shame it was`nt any longer , good job funny and poinant

  • Powerful...?

  • Take that wealthy pigs!!

  • there was no point to this video

  • If you're just looking for something stupid to laugh at, check out some of my sketches. -Cosmo

  • ii dnt get it

  • its beverly hills. every store on that block has like 300.00 sunglasses 500.00 pants. so that fact that he hung a sign saying a .99 cent store is comming in that neighboorhood is funny. really funny actually. it would e etter if he got some audio on people like hide a mike by his sign somehow. but the premise is there. i like it. keep up the good work.

  • lol clever and original.

  • That was great, those clueless idiots were all like WTF? Not to mention how pissed they looked. They don't even realize how the rest of us are forced to live, and it's their fault!!! Now we need a walmart in beverly hills.

  • That was awesome!

  • The wealthy and ignorant

  • nice one
