WOW! Todd really caught fire with this kick ass song. Will someone please tell me the cast of the entire New Cars band as I had no idea that the New Cars was even formed.Todd is awesome.....................
WOW! Usually these "supergroup" reunions stink, but this is a good song! Regardless of who is in the band....and let's face it, Rundgren is a great artist!
I saw them live, and were good, despite there being no Ric or Ben in the lineup. Now I'm amped up for this reunion with Elliot,Greg,Ric and David.Should they consider adding Todd on bass for touring?
Looks like the studio track isn't on here; too bad. It's definitely better than this live take, although they did OK here too. The song is good enough that it's still good even if not done perfectly.
When the (great) studio track came on the radio, I thought it sounded like the Cars, and guessed it might be the New Cars... and of course it is! :-)
Oh and btw, why not just keep Todd because he adds some energy and ruggedness, while adding a bit of a smoother touch to handle the Orr songs! Elliot and Gregg are very electric and so too is Todd, but they still need that Orr and Ocasek type of personality to offset all of the fireworks. It would be a wonderful tribute to Ben and all of the bands earlier success. And it would be great for their legions of fans. And David Robinson would be a great spark too because he is a world-class drummer!
You guys are darn right! This is great, old fashion Rock & Roll, the way it should be! It's a lot of fun and wonderful to listen to and tap your feet to! I'm quite impressed and would buy this record in a minute. The kind of music i love. Kudos Guys! They have a lot of hits in them. I have said some things about Todd not being a good fit, but that's only because i know they still need that Ocasek or Orr influence to make this complete. I'm sticking with my belief, but still VERY happy for them!
Great song...really sounds like another original The Cars song. While song dis the new lineup, I think they sound great and are helping keep the great catalogue of Cars songs alive and kicking. Rock on.
I tell ya,I am shocked!!!I am a huge Car's FANATIC???and...damn!!1 big mistake I made???Dis'n them before I heard them.Especially since Gregg Hawkes is my inspiration as a keyboardist,and ELLIOT???M.F.Brilliant!!!Todd???GOOD JOB..WELCOME!!!
Just heard this on WKIT, Bangor, ME (Stephen King's radio station) and I was blown away!!! This is the shit!!!!

You have three of the very best 70s/80s bands right there together; Cars, Utopia and Tubes ! How cool is that ! :-)

The New Cars consisted of Todd Rundgren, Kasim Sultan (Utopia), Greg Hawkes, Prairie Prince (The Tubes), and Elliot Easton.

Hey Todd, you're showing your age. How many people these days even know what a "dance card" is? Great song nonetheless.

Since when did Bob Costas pick up the bass? Someone should tell the drummer he missed the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory audition....LOL

2 bad the lip sync is off a little bit....
lepfanatic 3 years ago
i don't think it's a lip sync, if you look at craig before the band plays his words are off, too. it's the video, not todd.
kurdtkobainfan1 3 years ago
I agree with you... That's what my comment intened to mean.....
Bad video download...
I think Todd fits in well. 2 bad Ocasek quit playing for now....

It's typical upload snafu on YouTube, some vids are better digital material and upload without an issue. Analog to digital adds even more issues
