Anybody else catch the VERY strong resemblance to "Uphill Battle?" This song sounds like the old Saosin because it's a new version of the first song they released, "Uphill Battle." Different lyrics and everything, but all the solos are exactly the same.

I think what's giving people distaste to this album is the fact that they are 'upset' that they didn't get what 'they' expected. Look at Alexisonfire's new album. Most people I know really don't like George's new sound, can't say I do either, but whatever...that's how bands work. Just appreciate you get some music at all. The album is decent, I'd give it like...3.5 stars / 5

The album is sick, at least I think so. It's just that, Saosin is really deep in it's own history.. the band's is constantly compared to it's earlier music... instrumentally, this album took a hit. There are practically no signature Saosin guitar riffs, and the drums are kinda held back. The high point of record is Cove's singing and lyrical depth. Overall, the album is tight. As a Saosin album... it kinda disappointed.

I agree. I thought it was going to be a heavier album but it turned out the exact opposite. I think they are maturing as a band and they are going for more of a complex/deep aspect on their songs. It's one of those albums that doesn't stand out at first but grows on you the more you listen to it.

Songs like On My Own, Say Goodbye, and I Keep My Secrets Safe are more of the signature Saosin sounds we're used to... but come on man.. Fireflies, The Alarming Sound of a Still Small Voice, and It's All Over Now are not songs we're accustomed to hearing... not that they're bad songs, they just don't sound like the stuff Saosin is known for. The guitars aren't SILENT on the record, but they are held back a ton.

Honestly, it looks like they've slowly been branching away from the post-hardcore genre. HE DOES SCREAM! On a couple songs! It's almost alarming... his vocals are way too good to be simply one dimensional. And on a couple of songs his Anthony Green voice is extra Greeeeen. But the last half of the album seems reallllll different.
