I dont completely disagree with you. But you have to remember that she is a Malyali and Tamizh is probably difficult for her to emote in. Also, it is a live performance in front of the Queen herself, and such a difficult song at that. It requires almost all her concentration to get all the notes and lyrics right.
Considering all that, we could say this was a brilliant performance.

very well rote leant but i found the natural emotional voice to be missing that this song demands. Vani Jayram is in her own league .. original song is too good which emotes 100 times better than this. This is just a technical exhibition, questionable as to voice quality too. Cheers.
I agree with what you're saying. The music was too artificial. It took away from the emotions of the song. But I thought Roopa did an excellent job in singing. But I wish it was more heartfelt and sung at a slower tempo.

Very nicely rendered. The first ragam IS Panthuvaraali (a mela kartha ragam), not Hamsandhi or Poorvikalyani, which are both janya ragams of Gamanashrama with a higher dha.
