  • If you don't have to let it sit for at least 8 hours for oxidation, it isn't pure henna. Anything that isn't pure henna can damage your hair, so it's not a good idea.

  • Do you still dye your hair with henna?

  • @asq738 I don't. only because my hair isn't light enough naturally and you can't lighten, then henna it all the time... I will definately use it when I get older and my hair starts going gray (I hope it does so I can)

  • Okay I looked on hennahut... Did you get the red henna or was it just henna? Also I have regular blonde hair and I want to put large highlights of henna in my hair. Is that possible? My hair is in extremely good health. I have never dyed it or chemically enhanced it in any way. I want the same color you got on the highlights.

  • @WTDuckie this is just the pure henna. and you could do stripes but you have to remember they can't be dyed over. so if you do the stripes then change your mind, you'll either have to let it all grow out or cut it off.

  • "Went swimming in a sewer..." LOL! I am a henna-head and I never thought of it that way but it is so true...

  • I really, really want to use henna. I'm scared though because if I do dye my hair red, I want it to look as natural as possible (I've NEVER dyed my hair before). Since henna gets richer with each redye, do you recommend sticking to a box? D: I'm so confused and nervous and ahhhhh ><

  • @Naturaall you can always do one allover dye and then after that touch up only the roots. that would keep it at just the one tint if you don't want to go any bolder. you can also just not leave it on as long and take it slow! :) don't be nervous. breathe!!!

  • Did you bleach you hair first? Cause i have medium brown hair and i would love to make it henna red but idk should i bleach it and then put henna or juts add the henna?

  • @zeldaseven64 don't bleach then henna!! unless you like your hair falling out/being on fire. chemicals and henna can have an adverse reaction. if you want bright orange/red of henna and your hair is darker, you're gonna have to bleach it most likely, or use a high volume developer. they have great stuff at sally's... it just takes work to keep it bright and moisturized...

  • @smixiedee Oh okay thank you:D

But if i bleach my hair how long do i wait to henna my hair?

  • @zeldaseven64 I had bleached it in March and dyed it in maybe May with some box color and then did the henna maybe in June. That might have your roots a bit grown out but I would say a month minimum if you're set on trying.

  • omg.. can i marry you when it becomes legal? im serious you are awesome.

  • @100SmilesAway this is my first proposal from a girl and I enjoy it

  • Thanks for sharing -- the color turned out great!

  • Hi sis i'm from saudi arabia and we alwes use hinna its great for hair and u can add tea or coffe or ugurt ifor a dry hair or the. Yallow part of egg lol sry my eng is bad lol put m trying to teach some sicrets about hinna mmmmm and wut els wut els OH ya u have to mex hinna with a tea water and leav it for a 1 day in a hot place , put a hot water and read tea then leav it for 2 hours then mix the tea water with hinna and live it in a hot place for one day :) try it

  • I'm in lesbians with you lol ^_^

  • Congratulations. It looks great. :)

I'm getting ready dye (again) -- just mixed the henna up -- and wanted to say lemon juice + letting it sit overnight in the refrigerator helps release the dye (lawsone) from the plant. I recommend it. Results with water and going straight tend to be a little inconsistent. At least, that's what I've seen, and I hate having to redo because of screwups. :)

  • @rithban is this the henna hut kind you're talking about? or is it a different brand?

  • @smixiedee I'm talking in general, assuming you're starting with the raw powdered henna, not processed into bricks or anything. We got a few people dyed yesterday and it looks awesome. :)

I've never bought from Henna Hut; I can't say anything good or bad about them. Their marketing turns me off big time though. :)

  • This was SO helpful! Thanks!

  • you are AWESOME!! you seem like the coolest person ever

  • @smixiedee

I have kinda dirty blonde-ish hair. Um Ive gotten highlights before, but never dyed it. Im planning on growing out my hair anyways and so if I grew out my hair w/o touching up my highlights & letting my hair return to its natural medium brown, would this look okay? When you did it, it looked really good + natural, but its too light for my tastes. Would I be able to acheive a natural reddish brown hair colour?

Sorry for this painfully long comment with a bajillion questions -.-

  • @pumpkinseed1998 Your natural hair colour determines the colour you get with henna. Her hair is light and henna makes it orangy-red. If you have medium hair, the colour will be more auburn, and if dark brown the colour is very deep red.

To get a darker red than you get naturally, you can mix (pure) henna and indigo together.

  • you're neck's gonna be brownnnn :p

  • @Tromboneuse I wiped it off... I didn't want to make you watch that. I should have wiped it off with some tissue and then leave it in the hall... scare some people/gross them out. haha

  • @smixiedee YES!!!! hahahaha

i wanna try dying my hair with henna soon... i'm not so much into chemical dye since it basically detroys the hair and I'm so totally addicted to henna since a few months! (i started to do henna ''tattoos'' for fun and a little sideline income hehe) and i just love how everything about it is good (for the skin, for the lungs, for the nails, hair, EVERYTHING!)

  • @Tromboneuse I know right? Few things in life are so good for so many things.

  • @smixiedee If you put vaseline on it before you start painting, your skin stays clean :D

  • @Liha95 yes, good tip! I should have mentioned it, I just personally think vaseline is gross...

  • @ilovetocmmt dying eyebrows makes me nervous... lol and to get them bright red to match my hair I'd prob have to bleach them so iiiidk it has occured to me before. And I love it longer too... I'm in the process of growing it out again and its taking too long ughh

  • I have medium brown hair and I want to dye my hair with henna how do u think it would turn out? And great video btw

  • @avery5011 it would stay the same shade but with a reddish tint. it would look nice and natural. and thanks for watching!

  • I have medium brown hair and I want to dye my hair with henna how would you think it would turn out?

  • did you get it from henna hut or mehandi? you're hair is soo pretty!

  • @crymealullaby henna hut!

  • I got a great Copper color red for my hair. Thanks!

  • I live in "nowhere Minnesota" too and skipped the essential oil as well. I love the color you got!

  • @lilystvincent thanks! yeah not using it didn't really make the experience worse... I'm guessing it just helps your hair feel soft until your natural oils kick in?

  • What is the result if my hair is colour brown-dark??

  • @HeyLoveIsAllWeNeed it would just tint it red... if it's very dark you might not be able to see it... but the hair health benefits would all be there! :)

  • @smixiedee oww :S i really really want the colour like "weasleys" but ok probably i'll try (: thanks for answer me!

    xoxo

  • @HeyLoveIsAllWeNeed if you want to brighten you'll have to use chemical dyes.. :/ I wish henna could lighten, it would be perf!

  • lol when you mixed it it looked like shit ha

  • YOUR NEIGHBOR SCARES ME! YOUR FUNNY!!!!!!

  • omg..so my friend told me about this henna hair dye thing and i searched it on youtube. i thought it only turns your hair brown, but your hair looks very gingerish..which is my dream color hair! :)) <3 i love your hair. it looks great on you! and it also kinda reminds me of ron weasley heheh.

  • @strawberryFUSION you can get henna that is brown, and in lots of other colors, but this is what pure henna will do if your hair is blonde. and weasley orange is a perf way to describe it ;)

  • awsooome

  • I want really bright red hair, like Frida from ABBA had hers in 1977. But I don't know if henna could do that... I love red hair though. It's so different and looks different in different lights.

  • @getmeakitkat red is DEF my fave color of hair. as for if you would be able to get that color, if you could if your hair is naturally light... if your hair is darker henna won't lighten it. you'd have to use chem dyes to get it.

  • @getmeakitkat I know a girl and she had really bright red hair and i asked her she said she dyes it with henna but when she adds water she adds boiling water and apply it to her hair while its still hot!! she also said it took her a couple of times to get that color but wat r u going to lose henna is healthy! <3

  • @yuki13izumi sometimes you have to boil henna, but this kind that I used you don't have to.

  • @getmeakitkat

The place this girl got it from, Henna Hut, has a color called copper top. It is about the auburn color you describe. I buy the 3 packs at a time. Just really be sure you do not leave it on longer than 30 mins, I left mine on an hour and a half, and it turned really dark burgundy brown, pretty, but not the copper I wanted! Several baby shampoos later, it finally toned down, and I really like it now!. I'm going to strip it with mineral oil to perm it, and it will lighten some.

  • Wow this was thee best video overall lol made me laugh a lot while I learned about henna thanks

  • @JahSy1 oh wow thank you!!

  • does this make naturally light blond hair look stupid? ive heard rumours...

  • @OctoberCowgirls it would just be a bright orange. here is a site I found with pictures of henna on several shades of blonde hair.

if you search on google for "henna on light blonde hair" you can see some examples... the second one that comes up for me is really good, renaissance... it won't let me put the link!

I personally think it is lovely and I wish I had natural blonde hair so I could get this!! but you might not like it as bright... hope this helps :)

  • Fantastic, and might I add that you would look really great in dark brown hair too! :)

  • @rachelmurphy74 no, henna only darkens or tints hair. sorry!

  • You are hilarious! :) In a good way! You officially made my day ahaha

  • @thatgirlnamedrose oh wow thank you! I am glad I could make your day. ~

  • Hahaha.. you rock.. I love the color.. :)

  • This was a really fun video to watch, you're hilarious! I was wondering if you're planning on doing it again?

  • @GwendolynRaine do what again? I did henna a lot of other times until my natural color grew out. then I cut it short to even out the color... and if you meant do more videos, there's more on my channel but idk if they are funny. haha. but thank you for saying so! :)

  • you really are sooo awesome!!!

  • Hi does this work on ash brown hair

  • @theluvorlust it sure will! it will tint your hair reddish orange.

  • My dad is Arabic and he grew up with five sisters, so he taught me how to use it. If you ever have any questions that you aren't finding the answer to about dying your hair with henna... feel free to ask.

  • @pabloluvsrainbows all very helpful and good tips. thanks for posting!!

  • Again... the longer you let it sit in your hair the longer it will take to fade; try to let it dry as much as possible. Make that you get it on your scalp. It makes it look more natural. I even put some on my eyebrows. If you do this only leave it for twenty minutes.

I started letting my hair grow out a couple of months again and everyone I knew was shocked that I was really a redhead so it definitely works.

  • Don't put streaks in your hair with henna! I tried it when I first started using henna and it looked awful...

Just wanted to give you guys a couple of tips. Ummm... I'm naturally bleach blonde and I've been dying my hair with henna for over two years. If you want the color to be brighter and stay in longer you should mix in some coffee and a little bit of lemon juice. Let it sit for at least an hour before you put it on your hair; I usually leave it three or four. It just makes the color darker.

  • Hey, I have a question.....

My mom finally said I can dye my hair with henna, so I'm exited about that. So my question is - can I do just streaks instead of dying all my hair? Also, I have medium brown hair, so will it turn out a darkish red (like I want it to turn out)? Also, where can I order it online? Something cheap but with NO chemicals?

    Thank you!

  • @cationproduction its possible to do that if you want, but since you can't color correct henna with chemicals, be sure it's what you want! Also, henna is messy so it might be a bit difficult to achieve even streaks. And then when you redye the roots, that would be very hard to get the streaks even. I would probably say it would be easier to do all over color, unless you are dexterously skilled.

As for the color, yes, it will tint your hair red, and possibly darken it a bit.

  • 5:58 "oh yeah!"

  • I truly don't Know what is more ridicoulus , if your ring in your nose like a Bull, your glases, or your carrot hair..... Hmmmmmm difficult to say

  • @BecaJohns1 OMG YOU ARE MY FIRST TROLL! thanks for the honor

  • @BecaJohns1 HAHA eat a dick. You're probably some 300 pound bitch that doesn't have a life. fuck off

  • your the sister that i always wanted... i got stuck with a girl that likes to wear sparkly pants *sigh

  • your funny

  • hey! my hair is brown and has bleached highlights will henna turn it a weird color?

  • @scarlet100000 well the tones will be very distinct. the brown will get tinted red, the bleached part would be orange. and it will be hard to ever get them the same tone with henna.

  • hey! my hair is blond and slightly darker than yours naturally, did you use the natural 100% henna? and how long did it last, did it eventually fade out?

  • @glamsqueeze henna does not fade. it will stay red, you can apply heat and everything to it. :) and yes. it was 100 % henna!

  • Random but you totally remind me of Juno. Thanks for the video!

  • FINALLLY!! someone using it whose white!! and blonde!!!! i am platinum right now and i want to use henna and indigo so its blue black :DDDD

  • @hannuhoxox glad I made your dreams come true. ;) just remember if you dye that dark with henna, its going to be hard to get it lighter again without just cutting if off.

  • @smixiedee i gotcha

  • @hannuhoxox - Don't use indigo! (Unless you never want to have any other hair color other than black -ever). Here's why: I did pure henna first and was able to bleach it back to blonde when I tired of the red... Then I tried to do black using henna and indigo. Yes, it turned out black BUT when I tried to go back to my usual blonde -- the indigo WOULDN'T come out!!! It turned GREEN and the damaged parts were blue. And yes, this was the good body-art-quality stuff, pure indigo. Use Buxus instead.

  • @hcmontessori i didnt i just used regular dye XD but yeah thanks though ^.^

  • @hcmontessori yes, you only use henna if you know you don't want to change it. you can't apply anymore chemicals to it. you just have to cut your hair off or grow it out. that's why I said not to do it unless you just want it to always be black, or if your hair is black naturally and you just want to get it shinier.

  • u look like reese witherspoon :D

  • @lovingdamon95 never heard that one before.... thanks? lol

  • I like it, and you are really fun to watch.

  • P.S. Clean dry hair is best :) Love the video!

  • WOW! We think you are HOT! WOOT red heads have more fun ;) Send us an email we would like to talk to ya :)

We also found with new research, cutting a hole in the top of the shower cap to let air get to it helps ( no hair dryer). Henna hut also sells essential oils and we want to send you some free for being so kind and doing this video! Among other stuff! Can you say FREEEBIES? We also want everyone to know you did this all on your own, and we did not ask you to do this. Take a bow YOU ROCK!

  • This is super heplful! (and hilarious) If only you had my hair color so I'd know what color my hair will come out as... hmm...

  • @dandillilion what color is your hair? henna works in a way that it just basically tints your color, and does not completely alter it. my natural hair color is a mousey brown, and so my roots are just basically that color, only tinted red. it won't lighten your hair, just redden or darken it.

  • @smixiedee It's medium golden brown. I know how henna works with hair, but it's pretty much a guess until I actually dye it.

  • @dandillilion yeah, if you're okay with not being totally sure, go for it. :) good luck!

  • This came out really pretty. My roommate is a natural redhead and yours came out looking just like hers. You're funny, too! :)

  • @omg8o thanks! I was hoping I wasn't being awkward. :)

  • Hi, I've got "red" from Henna Hut and did a couple tests with it; I found that what temperature water I used made the color vary A LOT. So I'm wondering, did you use warm water? Room temp? Hot? Yours looks great so I want more tips =P

  • @LjufaVI it was about room temp I think, if anything I had it warmer and it cooled off. henna likes heat so I am thinking the warmer the water, the color can be released more. next time I do it I will be using warm water for sure. :)

  • Wow! It turned out really pretty! You make a lovely redhead, by the way. How long does the color last/how long before it fades? Other than the obvious root touch up that is required, has it faded at all/have you needed to recolor?

  • @SmashingShinyRay thanks! ~ it hasn't faded much at all.. it's still quite red even after I have straightened it, and washed it. If you dye your hair red, you know those thing usually kill red... but I haven't had to recolor yet, its been around 3 weeks since I colored. From what I have read 4-6 weeks is what most hennas have said. From what it looks like I will just recolor when my roots need it since the rest of it hasn't faded.

  • @smixiedee Amazing! You are actually helping e get over soe nerves about the permanence. I fried my hair two years ago from repeated coloring and chopped it off super short to let it grow fresh. It was awful because you could snap it in two. Well, now I have a head of virgin hair (thicker too ~yay!) and have ordered from Henna Hut. I am so excited! LMAO Redheads unite!

  • @SmashingShinyRay cool cool! glad I could help! I love the idea that I can have red hair and not need to constantly re-dye it. I think you will be extremely satisfied. ;)

  • you are gorgeous, the hair is awesome!

  • @chemdog27 thanks! :) I really like it too!

  • I have a question: when you saw that the henna mixture looked like poop, did you think of me? :D

    Anyways great vid bossman

  • @Ooxcasey I only think of you when I see REAL poop. because you are top notch poop.
