  • Gaiden don't mean letter. It means " Another Story " or " Side Story ".

  • thank god i got the japanes ver

  • I don't agree with you. This game is still very playable and I like a good challenge.

  • @kNIGHTWING01

    Thanks.

  • Kwing which Ninja Gaiden game would you recomend for a teen who loves ninjas and japaneze stuff?

  • @MDThomley24

    NG II

  • i wish i can make video games on my video

    camera

  • I think Ninja Ryukenden 3 is a better version. It's not as cheap as US version and story is a mumo-jumbo so it's actually better when you don't understand what characters are saying!

  • owesome review and this game was soo easy for me dunno why maybe cuz i play it alot back then

  • that was my first ninja gaiden game ever then i got the other 2

  • Ninja-Gayden

  • I guess Japanese players are a pussy.....Westerns are true gamers. Bring on the abuse!

  • @123doomdoom man, koreans kick ass in every game imaginable

  • Climbing walls was enhanced since now you can without a problem hope to the ledgeif you are close to it.

  • In NG3 There's no enemy respawns!

  • @TheTenjin666

lawl the first thing which google sais to me is, it's an EgoShooter xD

hmmm i always read "Ninja Gaiden" even wikipedia sais "Ninja Gaiden, in Europe and Australia also known as shadow warriors ... but its NOT the US wikipedia...) i dont get it... whatever i say NINJA GAIDEN, HAI

  • @9snaker Games are called Shadow Warriors and Shadow Warriors II in Europe. Although the name Ninja Gaiden is shown on the box in a smaller font (if it was an undertitle). This third game didn't get a release in PAL regions.

  • @Ruudos

do you really mean the (S)NES games?

because i've never heard (any) of the other names

also, it's maybe because i barly just know them from AVGN

  • @9snaker I mean the first two NES games.

Ninja Gaiden III (NES) and Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (SNES) were not released in Europe. Just type in "Shadow Warriors NES" in Google Images to see the box art.

  • @Ruudos

lol (i havent search for it but) you may be right

but one thing is, so many games were still in english even they were released in a specific non english speaking country - or other games got hacked and translated

so i couldnt even know that, without doing some research^^

  • @TheTenjin666

i dont get what you mean

i live in europe and it is called.... *drum-roll* Ninja Gaiden!

    what else?

  • 5:38 it's not called "Gayden" it's called GAIDEN!

  • YAY I CAN WATCH HD NOW!!! SO I CAN WATCH YOUR REVIEWS!!!! WHOPS BETTER PRESS CAPS LOCK! Much better. Seriously though I caan finnaly watch your vids and it's a blast!

  • this game was the hardest in the trilogy it took me forever to beat. i remember getting to the final boss the first time and i died because in this game the time clock doesnt reset when you reach the boss;however, this game is still one of my favorite games of all time. i play this game and the other two ninja gaiden games everyday and im still not bored of them.

  • gaiden actually means tale so its "Ninja Tale" not "ninja letter"

  • Rather than sending the total might of the U.S. Air Force to combat the Ancient Ship of Doom, I suppose it makes more sense to send a Ninja.

  • You ever planning to review the current Ninja Gaidens?

  • @RyuGoomba

    Yes eventually.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 I WANT TO WORK FOR YOU,HOW DO I GET STARTED???!!!!!!!!!

  • @RyuGoomba thumbs up if you want to play a game with Ryu,Ryu,And kratos.my mind would explode if they made that.

  • the story isnt as good or coherant as the first 2 they jumpd the shark, its a gr8 game i say 10/10 or 9/10 only on a emulator though!!!!ONLY ON EMULATOR This GAME IS IMPOSSIBLE IN ITS ORIGINAL USA VERSION ON THE NES , NO CONTINUES ITS MPOSSIBLE ; its a AWESOME GAME BUT ONLY PLAY IT ON EMULATOR W SAVE STATES

  • tahnk god for save states

  • CAN YOU PLAY WITH IREN CAUSE YOU SAID RYU AND IREN

  • I disagree with this. The story is not confusing, just a little forced, the only thing I would agree with him is that Ninja Gaiden III is a little bit too hard, but nothing that time and patience can't master. I would give this game an 8.5/10 It has beautiful music, great graphics for it's time and since it is so challenging, it also makes it satisfying to accomplish. Try it out if you like the other two, chances are you are going to lake it the same if not more.

  • man i love your reviews... but sheesh, spoilers galore..

  • @tyleratthegates tell me about it. I like his review style (he's not dropping the f bomb every 5 seconds) but i find this particular review distateful for other reasons. never give away the central twist to the game's story. plus, you seem to under rate this game due to its difficulty, which seems obvious to me is a hallmark of the ninja gaiden series.

  • This game, i thought, is the easiest of the three. Maybe it is because i played them in order, and by the time i got to the third it was easy, for all the games have the same controls. however, it did take me the most time to beat, but once i beat it i considered it the easiest to pass now.

  • why al of those spoilers in your review dude, seriously.

you really shouldent tel as much of the story in your reviews for those who havent played them yet, rookies reviewer's do that i gues

..a 6 out of 10, you really have no merrit's for telling people to stay away from this game, you justcan't play aswel as the people who watch this video ;)

i whould say, get it if you see it and have fun playing, easy games ar shit, the fun is in the challenge

  • SELLOUT

  • They should have named it Hard as Hell Gaiden lol

  • I always found NG3 the easiest, mostly because the enemies don't respawn like the other two games.

For example, how many times in the first two games would you get caught on a tiny platform with a huge jump ahead of you, only to be clipping a spawning point where some stupid bird would keep immediately reappearing every time you killed it? None of that in NG 3. Still a tough game though.

  • @melvoin yeah I agree ive beaten this game numerous amount of times, I even did a playthrough for this game. dont believe me check out my channel

  • rated one just because of the fucking annoying annotations

  • @vnano

    you can turn them off

  • nop. only individually. which is a real pain when you have to DO IT FOR EVERY GODDAMN VIDEO

  • rate the video for what it is, not youtube's minor flaws

  • this review was alright.

  • what I'm wondering is how can a woman with high heels run as fast as a ninja?

  • gaiden can also be translated to the word History...which can be related to tale or legend... im a huge fan of all these games and always wondered what it ment...i lived in japan for a year and my wife is japanese..i can speak a little japanese and from what i know you cannot translate the languages straight word for word.. so in a way all these translations may be correct in some way... but maybe not so much the word ..letter.. where did you get that translation anyways?

  • Gaiden (GUYden not GAYden) doesn't mean letter, it means story, or tale. So ninja story or ninja tale is basically what it translates to in English.

  • I can beat the US version easily now.

  • damn techmo had it in for american gamers.

  • I was sure that Gaiden meant "Legend"... hmm

  • There's Also The Snes Version Called Ninja Gaiden Trilogy

  • Why is incredibly rare, unfortunately :(

  • The last level of this game is insanely hard, but the musics and graphics are so damn good that you can't let the paddle away

  • i liked 3rd part most. I not liked 1st and 2nd part so much as Vice:Project Doom

  • The 3rd game is the strongest I agree

  • well, the plot of this game is based upon ninja cop saizou

  • you need alot of practice for this game but its fun

  • For me the ninja gaiden 3 was the easiest of the ninja gaiden series. The better controls and the dragon sword update made it better.

  • Comment removed

  • I have beated it like 30 already. I have the japanese version in catridge and i can beat the US version.

  • @CrysisFear

Better controls? the floatier jumping sucked if you ask me. But it was great that you could hang on to platforms. And of course powering up your Sword was pretty rad. but the first NG is the best hands down if you ask me

  • In Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 jumping and wawing sword was kinda bad. Also there were annoying things like birds that i really hated. The hit contact was bad. I find the floatier was bretty good hold the turbo button down and moving left from right was bretty quick for getting up in NG3.

  • @CrysisFear

Ok, i finally made it up to Act 6....and so far this game is fantastic. The graphics and boss battles are better than I and II. And i love how you can get that item that powers up your sword to make it bigger and longer, it's great!

I'm not too sure about the Monsters and machines as enemies, and i'm not huge on the story line but eh. And thank god that Clone item from II is gone ;p It sucks tough that it's mostly about climbing and not jumping from....

  • @CrysisFear

...wall to wall like in I(especially). But i think the stage design for the most part is better crafted than II's, it's definitly the hardest of the 3, yet i hate it that there's limited continues, but i guess it makes the game more intense hey? also the music is dissapointing. the first is fantastic, II's is great, III's is meh.

  • You are obivousy playing the us version. I have Ninja Gaiden 3 japan version as a catridge and it is real easy. You have there an password system that the us version doesent have. Also there are less enemys. Its really easy compared to Us who made ng3 real hard.

  • @CrysisFear

I love the challenge and difficulty, but i hate the limited continues. So i'm glad i have the US version hehe. And i cant get past the boss on Act 6....At least with Limited continues and once u lose it forces u to start back from the beginning AND it makes you even better at the game, and you memorize enemy patterns ect. Boss 3 is such a pain, and act 5 and 6 makes me want to rip my hair out at times.lol In ways i prefer this over NG II....NG II had sloppy enemie placement

  • the NG on the sega master system is pretty slick too btw

  • @CrysisFear

are you serious? me like cant beat the 3rd stage or something

the first was the most fun, cause it was easy (till it gets to the level in the castle, thats where it gets hard)

and the endboss is so DAMN KICKASS-HARD...

  • how to pronounce? ninja gayden or ninja guyden?

  • guyden

  • guyden

  • guyden

  • guyden

  • hey k wing or any 1 else that still watches this should i get ninja gaiden ds becuz i really want 1 more game for now cuz i m bored of my old games

  • I have the Ninja Gaiden 2 for xbox-360 it is awsome u can cut of the monster arms and legs off a lot of blood and gore

  • Ryu is prenounced Yoo

  • Was this the one that had the area where you HAD to die because they didn't give you enough time to complete the level? Or was that II?

  • u kinda said it wuz bad just because of diffuculty and confusing story. that doesnt make a game bad. gameplay is what really matters and ninja giden III has amazing gameplay.

  • this was the best of the trilogy wat u crazy talkin bout? and 2 was the weakest.

  • 3 is awesome, but I think 2 is far better.

  • The ds version is too awesome the only bad thing is that you can finish the game in 6 or 7 hours but that doesn't matter buy it if you have a ds

  • i m getting ds ver

  • is the ds 1 good?

  • yae, the ds version of ninja giden is AMAZING!!! u have 2 buy it. its the best in the series.

  • Incredible review! I'm subscribing!

  • wait. how did irene come back?

  • maybe she swam?

  • This game doesn't suck it's just hard as shit.

  • Oi vey. Who told you it meant "letter?" It means "side story." "Tegami" means "letter" in Japanese.

  • I think thats pretty harsh, personally i love this game despite the fact that i absolutely with a passion HATE the idea that we have limited continues, seriously whose idea was that? they should be killed. But other than that this game rocks and while it is the weakest of the trilogy i still say anyone who enjoyed the first two should check this one out too

By the way, did you ever finish the game?

  • Yup & the ending was wicked lame! people have a problem with me showing endings in my reviews. So I try not to do it. Sometimes I still do. The ding of NG 3 is almost identical to NG =P

  • @kNIGHTWING01 I've just completed Dragon sword and the game is the best in the series. When I completed it I couldnt stop so I replayed it! It's epic and I think it has the best story out of all of them! In my opinion! I would give it a 10/10!

  • The first Ninja Gaiden was made to be too hard. I dont mean gameplay when I say that I mean if the last boss kills you then you go all the way back to the beginning of the level (its freakin 6-2 thats the hardest level in the game) It makes you work too much just for a chance to fight the last guy. NOT FAIR. I hope the second one is easier.

  • @BakeswithNUG

NG II was alittle harder if you ask me, alittle cheaper and more frusturating where as NG I flowed so much better.

But i hear what you're saying, once u lose to the final boss in the first NG you have to start back from level 6...it's bullshit, since the final 2 bosses are hard enough. I still beat it though, but damn ;p as for NG III, i've only played up to the 2nd level and i hate the floaty-like jumping ;p still fun though

  • I agree, Ninja Gaiden III wasn't as good as the previous two games, though it was still a lot of fun to play. The dragon sword extension is quite cool, but why did the developers leave out the shadow clones??? They were by far the best feature in Ninja Gaiden II.

  • Unlike the 360 which lets you try out a trial of their arcade games, this reviewer helped ALOT with letting me know which retro game is good to get. thanks alot.

  • can u review comic zone on the sega genisis and wii VC

  • finally a Youtube reviewer that dosen't say the F word every 5 seconds. keep up the good work.

  • what is the music at 6:18 ?? is it from ng 3 ?

  • yeah bad review bro, sorry. the story does actually make sense and fit in the series pretty good. if you had finish Ninja Gaiden 1 or at least READ and WATCH the story unfold in it, then you would understand the story behind part 3. 2/5

  • naaw man this game was the best out of the 3 in my oppinion.

  • HARSH

  • your a great reviewer, goes to show you that you dont have to curse or put on a funny skit to make a review. This was the only Ninja Gaiden i beat :L)

  • No more smirfs :)

  • actaully i felt NG3 had a pretty easy to follow plot

  • Hmmmm thats a tough one. I don't know. To many to choose from....

  • This game is mega cool. I love playing this game. Thanks Ninja Gaiden for everything. By the way what is your favorite nes game?. OK. sayonara my friend.

  • It's pronounced "Guy-Den", and the meaning is "side story".

  • wait what? i thought irene died how did she save him xD

  • Cool review, kNIGHTWING01 :).

Yeah, this game does seem pretty frustrating at first, however it has certain advantages over the first two games:

1.The Dragon Sword extension power-up, as you pointed out, is very useful and makes the boss battles so much easier.

2.The player can tell which power-ups are available in each level. This is extremely convenient. I remember having to memorize the locations of certain power-ups in the first two games.

Anyway, thank you for your review!

  • when is the next review coming out? I can't wait for the SA2B review.

  • A very well put together and thought out review. The one thing I would have liked to have seen more of was you talking a little bit more about what you were doing as you showed the gameplay footage.

Please keep the reviews coming. 5 Stars!

  • ah... i would love to se you make something about a pokemon game...

XD, Pkmn battle revolution, Colloseum... ANYTHING?

but well, i got DKC coming up on your list, overexited i am :)

  • and Sonic adventure 2 battle, such an awesome game must get an awesome reviw, cant wat untill next friday Kwing.

  • the intro takes too long

  • Intro was 10 seconds. It used to be 45 then 25 and 18. Its not getting any smaller.

  • 15 seconds? Dude, I have ADHD and even I can sit through 15 seconds without thinking it's to long.

  • -__-! NG3 is awesome IMO.

  • papa smaer :P lol

  • Cool review. Its like with No More Heroes when they removed the gore for europe release.

  • if you have ds why not review those games to

  • I do own a DS. But I don't have the correct equipment to show the game properly.

  • hey kwing, ill throw you a message on how good ninja gaiden 2 for the xbox is

  • kwing, will you review ninja gaiden for the ds?

  • ...

  • XD Hah!

I used to play this game without knowing.

The cartridge had a picture of Rurouni Kenshis on it so everyone thought it was his game, but no, it was ninja gaiden 3. XD I slapped a random password on it and it sent me straight to the flying ship level... oh, the memories.

  • great video as usual.

but I'm pretty sure gaiden means "side-story" or "tale". So in other words, the Side Story of the Ninja or the Tale of the Ninja.

  • sorry, I just went through the older comments and noticed you mentioned something about it.

  • Dang!For some reason,the video keeps ending at 5:06 for me,so I can't watch the whole thing!!

  • I cant wait for the next review i was just playing that game a couple of days ago.

  • yay, i can't wait till Sonic adventure 2 Battle review! :P

  • good review... but i can't wait to watch the next review... The best Sonic game ever, in my opinion...

  • I dunno about Ninja Gaiden, even for NES it wasnt the best there is. For example, Natsume's Kage was way ahead of this game in music, graphics, and better/faster gameplay.

And the best platformer ninja game there is - is without doubt on GBA - Ninja Cop.

  • Not to dis you in any way at all, but...don't you think "The Real Game Master" sounds a bit cocky? Maby it's just me.

  • I have mastered over 500 games and played over 3,000 in my life time and play every game genre. Its not cocky at all if you think. A Game master is a hardcore gamer that plays on all genres and master tons of games not just one like FPS and fighting game people.

  • True, that. A hardcore gamer plays games a lot, and is especially good at one or two genres. A game master is awesome at every genre. Although, i don't think you've reviewed any RTS games yet, have you? Sorry if you have, I might have forgotten. ^^; Also, looking forward to the SA2:B. I really liked that game on the GC. I actually did a speed-run of the final boss. Not the best, but it's still faster than some.

  • man, I loved SA2B aswell. too bad sonic games just got worse from there. with the exceptions on rush and secret rings ofcourse.

  • I want to find away to Review Warcraft series. I am also working on Battalion Wars 2 and Army men RTS. Probably be the summer of 2008. But I really want to review Warcraft 1. Love that game! Tetris is a puzzle game. I will review the Wii ware ver. Red Steel and Golden Eye Reviews are coming too.

  • That is true, but I remember you making that video saying that you really don't care for the other consoles. There has to be some appreciation for them. And I know there are certain games you refuse to play. There is also the fact that one can just call themselves a Game Master, or they may feel they have mastered a game when they haven't (not that I'm saying you haven't).

Again, I'm not trying to dis or insult you in any way. That's just how I feel about it.

  • I own a Ps2 and have replaced it 3 times! I have about 150 PSX and PS2 games. I will borrow my friends PS2 to Review some of my Sony collection. Mainly RPGS since I only bought a PS2 for 3 reasons.

    1.RPGS

    2.Devil May Cry

    3.Kingdom Hearts

I never got a Xbox because I prefer PC games over Xbox. I am still trying to find away to record PC games. Give me more time.

  • Hmm... That is better, but I will stick to my statement. I'm just a big anti-cocky person. Just try to ignore it.

But I'd suggest Camtasia for recording PC games. There's probably better software out there, but that's what I can think of at the moment.

  • If there's one thing I can't stand about Ninja Gaiden NES games is the fact that some eneimes when you kiilled them, they tend to reaper again, making the game way harder than it already is. I don't know if that's a glitch, or they made it on purpose to make too damn challenging.

  • that doesn't count as challenging as much as it does as annoying

  • sa2b rocks

  • you are awesome :D

  • man' knightwing you really don't like HARD GAMES though don't you (uuD)

  • Side story or letter. Most definitions for the word said Letter. A few did say Side story. But it means the same thing.

  • if u weren;t the person who posted this movie i would give u a thumbs up ^

  • I coulda sworn Gaiden meant sidestory. Oh well. Great review Kwing. 5/5

  • It does mean sidestory.

  • I said it once and I'll say it again. Your review is better than Adam and Morgan from X-Play

  • Amazing ^_^ I learned something means! Cute 5Stars!

  • I was kind of hoping for you to mention that Ryu's armor was in Halo 3 (as overused, and as much as I dislike it) in the history segment. I keep hearing Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword is great, but it looks a little quirky in handling..Does it take a while to get used to?

  • The learning curve only takes a few minutes. Basically after the 1st stage you should have it down no problem =D

Its true what the other Reviewers have said about Dragon Sword.

Whats the other question I am really Reviewing Golden Axe? Yes! I love that series although I am bit worried about the future of the series. Midway tried to turn Gauntlet Mature and it flopped big time!

  • A'ight, sweet. I'll have to give it a try next time I see it.

  • I'm REALLY looking forward to the next review. SA2B was the last Sonic game I liked and it was probably my fave Sonic game overall, since I'm not a huge fan of the original games. Mario was better.

  • Awesome Review. Can you Review Ninja Gaiden shadow? Or the Sega Gen Ver? Are you really going to Review Golde Axe Kw?

  • YES NG 3

  • I would suggest the 2nd Ninja Gaiden. The 1st one may be to difficult for new players. But the 2nd one is just as hard, except for the addition of spirit clones and wall scaling makes the game fun and not to aggravating =P

  • witch is the longes KW

  • Awesome review. I've never played a Ninja Gaiden game, so I think I should play the first two sometime soon.

I think you should do a review of Earthbound, if possible. That is probably the greatest game ever.

  • I can only dream to be a reviewer as good as you.

  • i am the fist person to watch this video.

  • great review. I really like this game =]

  • first one to see XD
