dude this thing's awesome! i got mine today and i'm using it right now. i gotta say that it's a pretty good deal for it's size and quality. mine's pretty fast and it also came with windows 7.
@darkertree it's pretty durable, just like the macbook pro, it's just thinner and the price of it is not so bad either 999 for a super thin macbook is not bad at all....I dun care much for pc's or netbooks at all
After over 3 hours they were unable to resolve the matter and told me that there was nothing further that they could do. I filed a claim for a refund on the technical support and was (VERY RUDELY I MIGHT ADD by "Orville badge #GWSS116") denied. I'm really not sure which is worse, the customer support or the product. After my experiences not only would I not recommend purchase, I would strongly advise against it. I hope this review helps someone before they make the same mistakes that I did.
I decided to take the computer(my fathers christmas gift) back to try another one because the additional $200 was over my budget. After I exchanged the laptop for another computer I came to face with the same problem, I was assured that if I purchased the support that a technition would be able to resolve the matter.
I bought an Acer netbook last week, could get wireless connection but was unable to surf the web. I called customer support and they insisted that I would have to purchase technical support which would essentially cost another $200.
i bougt mine 2 years ago, which looks the same as this one on screen, and it was about 780 levs in my country (Bulgaria). Thats about 400 euro, but it's way better than that peace which tey're showing. It has 16o GB hard drive 1,5 GB RAM an its running Windows XP perfectly...with skype and everything :-)
this guyz are retarded i have this netbook. it has about 8 hours of battery not 2! also it takes very little time for it to boot up. this is a great netbook and its only 299 at most stores
I bout the linpus one which was about £50 cheaper than the windows one. and installed windows xp on it. It's a nice buy i suppose. £250 2008 ^^ first one burnt out and had to be fixed >.>
yes its longlife because it doesnt havebuiltin cd/dvd drive fu connect d usb drive it will drain battery life quickly + u carry arount withit dabgling usbcables opticaldrive+ac adapter fur not a cd/dvd user really then this tiny computer is really very fantastic than a full weighted laptop it can perform like bigheavy laptops but weighs like a box of munchkins donut
I know little to nothing about computers, but were I to purchase this at a local store, would it come installed with an operating system (I'm looking for Windows 7 or Vista)? Also, were I to install Skype &/or iTunes on it, would it considerably slow down the speed of its task completions or distort them? If anyone could answer my questions, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I've just bought this exact one, in blue - haven't touched my laptop since - anyone know if you can get a power lead for it to run it from the cigarette lighter in your car?
@TheSkyScanner Well what I use is a Home Adapter for Cars. Plug it in and I can plug in anything that uses the AC plug (Standard US/Canada outlets) And it works too. I THINK I got it from Wal-Mart
Mine is of the first generation ZG5 it's screen is 8.9 width. I'm very pleased of what this little machines can do, I'm running my movies in H.264/AVC (Advanced Video Coding) for a 712x368 movie very smoothly using VLC 1.0.5, since it has a VGA port I connect it to my 55" LCD Tv and it looks great. The AAC MP4 audio codec sounds great, so it's perfect to store a movies library in your house.

Ok I got just a few questions about these. Im gonna be getting one for Christmas and I wanna know it they are worth it. I want to be able to do school on it, on FLVS. (FLVS is my online school.) Would I be able to download MSN on it? Is it able to play games like Funorb, runescape, etc. If not, would I be able to give it a better video card or anything? I'm getting an hp one. It's about $300. Is it worth buying for what I want? and does it come with Microsoft word and all that? plz reply. thx:D
it doesnt come with microsoft word and all that but you can easily do msn on it and a bonus is that it has a built in webcam and it should easily be able to do runescape and fun orb. It is definately worth it. (I'm getting one tonight)
Well, I have the Window's XP Version with 1.5gb RAM. It runs everythign you mentioned above and more, you wont have any problems with the games you've mentioned as i can run WoW on mine.
Ok im looking to buy a navy blue acer netbook at my local wal-mart. It has a webcam and is running vista home. It has 2gb ram and a 250gb hard drive. It is 348$...is it worth it? oh and it has a 11.6 lcd screen. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds good, but i personally dont like vista it drains alot of the performance. But at the end of the day it depends on what you want the netbook for.
@molbs5859 Hell ya!im on an acer aspire one right now,it has windows 7 starter ,a webcam , and a mic! it can also read SD cards and add files to ur SD! Full Wifi GREAT for 720p HD videos and has 136GB in space! ITs SOOOOOO Worth it!!!!!!!!!
@molbs5859 No its not worth it cause i got one for christmas and not even two years of having it i got what most people call the "black screen of death" if your looking at computers or laptops stay away from Acer
I got my Acer Aspire One second hand a few days ago. Its been going fine for about 2 days, then over night i started it up and its taking about 3 times slower than usual, but also the sound has gone crackly and slow.
I don't know what to do.
I have done a virus scan with no threats found, and fragmented.
could it be the fact that hav just downloaded and installed about 5gb worth of stuff.
Also can you please make it so it doesnt remove all my stuff.
annual mark up is 40 percent so add another 80 dollars to that because stores have to make moeny and then tax before the tax (the money they add because the goverment makes them) so wa lah 330$
:( i wanted this with xp pro from amazon but so many people complain about the screen cracking or messing up and how it cant watch vids so i guess i wont get it
a terrible pc...crap battery life....poor warranty and overall your better off forking out an extra couple od hundred and getting a laptop with a cd drive and a lot better specs. this laptop is absloute rubbish
can i play normal game son it? What is the difference to normal pc's? processor wise... cause i like to watch movies and play games :P and download emulators :)
you download then off the internet, and play say for example super smash bros from nintendo, you play with the keyboard lol and is only like half a GiG
NETBOOKS arent gaming computers, theyre for checking your email, using the web, small internet related stuff, if you want a gaming laptop a netbook isnt for you
Just recently mine spontaniously quit working, and their tech support is terrible. It has a year long warrenty but they seem to be waiting for that to expire before they will talk to me. It was great for the month or two that it worked properly though.
I got one for 160 GBP - 160 GB of Hard drive space, it has a 1.6 GIG Processor. The item is about a month old i.e. It's second hand & came with the box and everything else & a 6 cell battery which I thought was excellent. OS on the Acer One is Linux Lite which is fast & works well however it really hard to install a basic codec you know to watch movies & shit.. I have XP Pro on my main PC rig and it does ten time more than the Acer but for that price and well made note book I'm happy with it.
Far as I know it DOES have skype... I don't have one but there are loads of video's displaying this machine using Skype - and those aren't hacks, or at least they don't seem or claim to be. Was Skype employed at some stage with the Limpus?
of course it is xp. The 1.6 intel atom processor and (1)gig of ram would not be able to handle the amount of processing speed that a vista requires. It would slow everything down. On the contrary, xp is lighting fast, and allows for the user to enjoy his/or her's netbook while still being able to run their favorite apps or games without lag. Linux is good too, but its just foreign to most people, and can't run many programs on it like xp could.
i have one. it is really slow.

Theres an XP version available - its more expensive, but well worth it to avoid the cheapass Linux OS

Linux is leaps and bound ahead of windows, why on earth would you want windows if you had a choice.
NauthiX 2 years ago
compatibility.
ease of use
compatibility
not having to read instructions to install basic software like skype
compatibility
besides the version of linux that comes with these is second rate even for linux.
Linux is good in a big business, not for home users.

I have XP Pro on my main PC rig and it does ten time more than the Acer but for that price and well made note book I'm happy with it.
crysis4real 2 years ago
Far as I know it DOES have skype... I don't have one but there are loads of video's displaying this machine using Skype - and those aren't hacks, or at least they don't seem or claim to be. Was Skype employed at some stage with the Limpus?

I'm guessing you can't use flash on a netbook
ToiletRoller 2 years ago
of course it is xp.
