I personally love this show. It is so magical and it is my favorite out of all the shows Disney has done - World of Color is amazing, but has nothing on this. I just wish the videos would have been taken on nights when the systems were giving their 100%. Both shows seemed to be lacking in areas. I prefer the show on Cinderella Castle, but the one on Small World is cool too. I just wish they would turn off the face on the tower. It annoys me to see the image and then see the actual part moving...
There are pros and cons to each one. The colors on the DL version are much brighter/more vivid than the WDW one and I LOVED seeing the Small World sections actually happen on DL's Small World- on the flip side, Cinderella castle both in sheer size and design handle certain effects in the show better. I've seen the WDW version in person and am praying I can pull our 2 week Cali trip together so I can see the DL one in person (assuming they keep the show in 2012). Both make me cry (Walt & Stitch).
Wow, I am very impressed with everyone's maturity on this video! Most side-by-side videos like this usually cause a huge argument over which version is better. Take any Fantasmic side-by-side video for instance. You'll go through tons of pages reading through nasty comments like "Disneyland is better!!" I haven't seen one nasty comment like that yet. Nice guys! :) lol
I have to say Disney world. Just the fact that its projected on the castle that has crazy figures and shapes gives them my vote. I think it's more magical. Watching this giant castle transform in front of you is absolutely amazing. Disney land feels likes it's being projected on a screen. Disney world transforms the castle and makes it shape shift. I think Disney land has a stronger light (or seems brighter), but honestly, totally disney world. I couldn't keep my eye's off the right side lol
@alxalxfrv I think the 'brighter/stronger light' effect possibly had to do with the camera being used to film. I could be wrong and one person may have done both filming, but if not then the settings could definitely play a factor. As for the rest of what you said -- I agree. Projecting on Cinderella's Castle makes it feel more magical, but I hope the show will be just as grand to see live at Disneyland.
@theDisney365 I was there tonight. I heard from others today that due to technical difficulties it was canceled yesterday. Went off tonight w/o a hitch. I loved it. Saw even more things I hadn't noticed in the videos. For the others - the doors are giving a big sigh after it is all over. Very cute.
@999Phineas The castle is too small to project on, It's a Small World has a huge surface and it's bigger than Cinderella Castle, perfect to project on, there is nothing else to project on in WDW.
@999Phineas Sleeping Beauty Castle is much smaller than Cinderella Castle And It's A Small World's facade has projectors that can be used for the Halloween Fireworks and the Christmas Projections.
Between the two, I'd have to say I like WDW's version the best. I think it really might be due to just the fact that it was probably harder to make the one on the castle than the one on It's a Small World wall. Of course, I might be slightly biased becase I've actually been to WDW and I just love the park anyways, haha.
@91bookworm its a small world has hundreds of small in trick shapes! that have to fit perfectly! honestly i think its a small world is better cuz its not squished together but over all there both amazing!
Thanks for this side by side. I haven't seen it live yet (will tomorrow night at Disneyland) but can see the advantages of both places. Some things are better on the tall spires of the Castle and some things are better with the width of Small World. Over all another winner of a show!
@16050390 The smaller still photos are different. Roughly 500 new ones each day. They're tough to make out in this video. They're even a bit tough to make out in person, to be honest. But they're there, and they come and go at a rapid pace.
So pretty much the same, just different backdrops. I like at DL they have more space to work with. Cool though. And I got excited when the classic Disney tunes began :)
So this is the Pair of Docks they warned me about on the Jungle Cruise!

@BrianBunka This show plays before shows I believe. If I'm thinking right, this plays in WDW right before Wishes.

As a Cast Member, two of my favorite moments in the Magic kingdom are as follows:
Seeing the Summer Nightastic show for the first time and actually jumping and being afraid they blew up the castle when the pirates fired on it.
Seeing the castle turn into a space shuttle and blast off when the space shuttle program is so very close to ending here in Florida.
I was skeptical of the show, but the projections and audio are just breathtaking. -Ara

What in the world are the Its A Small World doors doing at the end? It looks like they have a mouth. What is that?
chiquitabonitad 1 year ago
@chiquitabonitad I noticed that too. It's also in WDW's version. The castle gate sort of opens. This is how I think of it.
After the long show, the castle (or small world) is taking a "breather" ;)
cdgunzz97 1 year ago 2
@cdgunzz97 Exactly! The buildings let out a sigh of relief at the end after putting on such a fast-paced show.

@InsideTheMagic If that is what it's supposed to be... very clever. Haha :)

Disneyland was ten times better projections. But WDW was awesome with the pyro and rocket projection!

@999Phineas Because we have a white building that functions as a widescreen, flat-panel display. It's perfect for this show!

it doesnt look like its a small world is bigger than the castle, the projection is on the front side of the castle as well.

@TheLuke843 Yes I know how the show is, I work in Magic Kingdom, lol, and Small World in DL has a WAY larger surface to project on.
