Ouch, alot of tearing there mate. Oh, yeah, I forgot; Compiz doesn't do Vsync good. Keep in mind ppl, those effects are nice, but try watching a fullscreen game or video with Compiz activated and notice the tear of death (because it almost killed me...there is no 100% fix for it). Anyway, I suggest not using Compiz with too much stuff. It's very unstable and is full of workarounds. This is - one - of those reasons, why it will be replaced by Mutter (with Clutter) in future Ubuntu releases.

@wbr531 linux supports nearly every piece of hardware u can think of there are stil alot of things it dont support but most the time u wont come accross them, if you are unsure if linux will support something u got then u can always google to find the answer. Remember linux is a learning and inovative operating system, while some distro's like ubuntu will try n make linux as user friendly as possible you will still need to google or read up on stuff to get the most out of it, but worth it

@earthawaken I would use linux ubuntu or beilium if using my favortie windows programs didnt require an emulator, like if it came with a background emulator , thats not really an emulator more of a part of the system that has a dual setting, running both linux while also allowing windows programs to run, is that something there working on, cause if that release, i am so using linux :)

I lold when you said userfriendly. What about all the commands yu have to type in to install/download something/update etc? In windows its click and go. Don't get me wrong, i run linux on my laptop, because it runs smooth.

Did you have to configure anything with wine, and what is the custom Terminal thing? And the bar at the bottom with your programs and your wallpaper!

i did do some wine configering , feel free to check my post on how to make WOW and VENT work in unbutu its ont he ubuntu forums my username there is "keyboardslave". the thing at the bottom is a "DOCK" the terminal is a DOCK ADDON and my background is a trade secret ^_^ good luck buddy

first off, awesome vid, exactly what i was looking for, secondly, how easy was all that to set up and how hard is it to install it to a partition for dual booting (i dont think i can permanently switch from windows) . and is the quad treating you well? like, any lag or anything like that, o, and do u think a geforce 9400 will do? im not really the greatest at understanding graphics cards yet.

no, i tried, im going to go with about only 60%,

the main line im pointing out here are the most important to me which is the adobe suite, and lets say that i actually breakdown and start using gimp over photoshop (would never happen) then theres still all the other adobe products i use for my graphic design job, After effects, dreamweaver, flash, illustrator, indesign, audition

i need those, and until i get them, ubuntu will never win me over

lok same like at school i use dreamweaver at school cause all they have is xp. there are those programs that maker you come to windows unless you use wine. like i have photoshop under wine and its perfect.

The terminal is a addon for the "dock" i was using it was all in the repositories, Due to testing Windows 7 i haven't been bothered to re setup grub to boot into linux, when i get to it ill send you a message of the exact "dock" i was using.

You also must all take into account that he is running a GTX 260. Now, for the quad core, his core speed isn't impressively high, but the multithreading must make things a lot smoother for all those tasks running at the same time. I don't know if ubuntu is fully using quad cores or not yet.

Dude, you should overclock to at least 3ghz. I don't run quad, I run duo but I made it into club 4ghz. That is speed.

Hmm i have been meaning to over clock it... a little worried though, I think i will need osme better cooling. Things do load slower due to the low core speed but i notice no hickups when i run multiple applications.
